I stopped using sanding cloth around Y2K traded it for a wire wheel on the impact never bought another box of sanding cloth. When I saw this video pop up on my feed I was hoping to see you pull out a pocket reprogramming tool for the module!
People have mentioned the wire wheel, I should definitely get on that! Well hello at the rate this things fail might just invest into the whole thing 🤣 my tropic supplies programmer is down so they have to send out somewhere else get programmed, tad bit annoying
@@KoolinwithKrauss when im doing my installs I make sure to carefully remove the knockout not to make it look like i used a can opener. It can make the grade an install C real fast.
My X-13 in a 1.5 year old home with a Carrier did the same. I also put a rescue in. Kept the old one in case of an emergency. Blower wheel came off using the Ted Cook method. :) I didn't have the installer warranty it because they wanted more in labor than I could buy the rescue for. My smaller Carrier has a Broad Ocean ECM still going. I added louvers to the A/C closet doors too so hopefully it helps with static pressure.
Its not the motors that usually go bad. Its the modules on the back of the motor. They go bad because of surges of power. Putting a surge protector on any variable speed unit is highly recommended because of this fact
Correct! Modules from my supply aren’t as readily available as the whole assembly unfortunately! 100% agree with surge protection I recommend to them ag3000 minimum or the icm493 to really CYA
Man if attic units I’m my area were that easy to access I would still work on them.. around here you usually have to belly crawl or be a contortionist to get to them.
I don’t blame you! I would say about 50/50 for the attics I get into are like this vs the crappy ones. definitely fair share but I also don’t have the crawlspaces 😅 generally though, closets and garages.
Why not clean the wheel while you got the motor out? I tend to if it’s easy and accessible and there’s a water source. Good work man! Love the channel!
Definitely agree with you Tom! I’ve done that in previous videos if it’s in rough shape, this one was fairly clean, good 4” media filter. Appreciate you 🫡
The dedicated x-13 ones or just like the ag3000? I’ll have to start moving those because I believe that will drastically cut down as well! Thanks for the input 🫡

@@KoolinwithKrauss also something to consider if you have a system that is problematic with motors is to look into static pressure and system/duct sizing, I’ve had a rash of new customers that have had issues with x13 motors and ultimately it was found that the system was not built out correctly. Sir you really need to be using knee pad of some kind. YOU ARE DONE WHEN YOU LOSE YOUR KNEES.!!!!! BELIEVE ME I KNOW. ONE OF THE BEST TEC TIP YOU EVER GONNA GET!!!
Absolutely appreciate that tip!! You are 100000% right my dad would tell me the same thing, I have a kneeling bad and knee pads, but need to make it a conscious effort to utilize them 🤦♂️ thanks again!!
I just think x-13’s suck in general , no matter the manufacture probably do to the area I’m in and the power is crap! Agreed on the design tho, and tons of mildew … or is that mmm..mm…MOLD 🤔 😳
I’ve left a few that way just they had no oem motor or x13 available at the time and had to beat my skull to figure it out and it works bro 👌 love your vids btw

Been having that issue a lot lately specifically carrier products
Is just terrible especially when you just know that it’s has the module and gotta face it. May just start throwing psc’s back in em
Here in Port St Lucie down to West Palm using Gemaire and Tropic Supply I haven’t seen a heat kit on Rheem/Ruud without a disconnect.
Same here, most of the time that’s what I see, the disconnect in the knockout portion,

Absolutely!! Sometimes Teds method works… not all the time 🤣 he’s a goof!! Ya man anything to help that system breathe for sure!!
Try them Azure motors for attic or garage units. If you have a local Ferguson in your area
Will have to stop in and check em out! Pretty good success?
Get a wire wheel for your impact, it makes it a lot easier to clean the shaft on the blower motors. You can make it cleaner than using sandpaper.
Jam it!! I definitely need to get that would make better sense! Thanks for that Tim 🫡
That’s what I use too. Works great!

So common now. At least it was running.
Absolutely!! I did tell the customer at least they had it, but they wanted to shut it off at breaker 🤷♂️

Very true the power in this area is so dirty it kills alot of the electronics so prematurely

🤣 I totally thought about doing it over the condenser saying something about uncle Ted 😂 merry Christmas Eddy!! Same to you and yours brother 🙏

Ruuds problem ... in my opinion is cabinet design....to much moisture buildup .......i can see the mildew in that from oklahoma

Hey none of y’all know the fan relay solution for the stuck on fan on ..in these situations?
Not on an x-13 motor module, doesn’t have anything to do with the relay, the module wasn’t receiving the 24v required to run but would still run.
So in a pinch install a fan relay to break the 1 high volt leg to the motor and common and green to the coil of the relay
Solid point! Never thought about it dude honestly 💪
