We all replace a lot of caps but I add the Hardstarts to them upon replacements. It helps with the compressor and gives the cap a longer life too. You’re not doing a customer wrong by adding them. Take your meter to it on start up, prior to hardstart and after.
@@spok209 I only put them on older units. Most scroll compressors don’t need them but if my amps are high I am using them. There are some people that won’t agree but I have never had an issue. Not one. Been doing it for 20 years so i don’t know if that is anything…..
@@KoolinwithKrauss these new gauges are awesome...full color touch screen and data logging...connects to measure quick app and yellow jacket has their own app...been using them for a week now and they are the best gauges i ever had....i got them in the backpack kit with the wired probes and vac gauge, 3/8 vacuum hose and a set of 5 ft hoses...the backpack is awesome...so many pockets for storage
I’m up in middle TN. Ran in the same thing the other day bad cap. Mine was $ 311 with trip, part, labor and taxes. But that is taking the moment and checking pressures and making sure it’s working properly. Always like watching those videos 🫡
Exactlyyyy!! Absolutely, as long as you have a good SOP like that it is well worth the cost to determine if there’s any other issues to note and let the customer know, to prevent the callback!! Appreciate you brother be safe 🫡 🙏
good job man. I heard 945 for the capacitor and i was thinking ouch. Then i heard the 3 something at the end. That seems reasonable. I keep an extra cap at my house just in case. Im not a hvac guy but i can do the basics. Good vids. I like ur guys weekly podcast.
I like to throw small jabs out there 😆 but ya it’s about 290 for cap, we are flat rate, that includes the dispatch/diagnostic fee and cap! Appreciate it Rob, definitely a good time to shoot the breeze
Looked entirely reasonable to me. You provide the guidance, and the customer makes the decision. Maybe he'll just let it ride until it needs something more serious.
Exactly!! I always say if it’s a compressor or coil/leak type job and out of warranty, just about doesn’t make sense. Other then that let it ride until the wheels fall off

I got a question do you have your epa certification or diploma cuz I’m currently in trade program and my professor tryna pressure me to get a diploma, but I know he trying to get more financial aid out of me cuz I want get my Nate certification too I alright I got my epa certification just with them 2 certifications I can get a job right
Never heard of needing a diploma 🤔 maybe just for school completion and you get your epa. I never went to school, do need the epa to buy and handle refrigerant. But if your with a company, you’ll work under theirs
@@KoolinwithKrauss okay thanks one more question you think I’m better off getting apprenticeship even though I got my EPA certification card I can learn quicker hands than a trade school

It’s good to hear your price on that cap. I have my own business here in North Georgia and I’ve struggled with what to charge on a simple capacitor replacement. My price is just a hair below $300 so that lets me know I’m at least in line with other guys.
Absolutely brother!! That also includes the dispatch/diagnostic fee… however you want to categorized it for yourself!! I’m glad you watched that portion and saw, we are currently in a beta through our CRM for regional pricing average. And for some we have to lower others we raise
@@KoolinwithKrauss That makes sense. Yeah my price includes the service call fee and labor. I end up charging some customers less depending on their situation. I just did a second opinion for a lady that told me she was very broke but needed air, the other company told her that she needed a blower motor and quoted her $1200. I went there and found nothing but a bad thermostat. I charged her less than $200 for the whole thing.
@@AaronPowellvox my man!!! Sometimes that’s all it takes. Unfortunately either the other company was just ignorant and didn’t know what they were doing, or would change the motor then on top of that charge for a stat after the fact
