Gavin Ashenden is a great, honest, and good man. I pray a perpetual novena to Our Lady of Walsingham for their return of the faith. God bless and sustain him and the English people.
as a former Episcopalian, I must say ONE of the things I miss is the 'Coffee Hour' after Mass. This was a great 'vehicle' to build community. In the Catholic Church, after Mass, people rush to the parking lot.
We haven't lost. We have Christ. We have Truth. We need to get the Truth out there, in the media, in education, preach Christ, loud and proud and take no prisoners. Everyone, even the most recalcitrant modernist, craves Truth. We stopped proclaiming, so others filled the spiritual void. We have the muscle and we have the weapons.
Thank you. I agree with most everything you said. I also am discouraged about the assumption of progress. It is everywhere and very harmful. my favorite century was the 13th, perhaps 14th as well. I have appreciated Dreher and think he is right.
@@JohnFromAccounting Perhaps my comment was misunderstood? I will clarify. What I meant to say was that the SSPX officially does not claim to be the Catholic Church, but rather claims to be an instrument within the Catholic Church - and same with the founder. This was in response to a commenter claiming that the SSPX is the Catholic Church instead. If such a thing were true then you would have two organizations claiming to be the true mystical body of Christ, and each with its own Pope. The SSPX recognizes the authority of the Pope. I am not a proponent of the SSPX, but I do defend them when mischarged.
Greetings from the UK! Does anyone has any views on 3rd order communities/associations, does joining one require as much discernment as choosing priesthood/marriage? My wife and I are considering the lay part of ICKSP even though they are about 3 hours from us.
On the one hand a certain amount of prudent discernment is required simply to make sure that you are able and willing to fulfill the requirements, even though these obligations are not under the penalty of sin (but to make sure it is being taken seriously and not just a decision made on a whim). On the other hand, the amount of discernment would not be huge, and definitely not as much as for the sacraments of matrimony or holy orders. Even if one wishes to take vows later on, the vows would make the 3rd order promises null and void, so there is no issue there. These 3rd orders have been designed to assist those who are living in the world to have a more unified path to Heaven with others under the mantle of those who have taken vows, and to assist people in being detached from the worldly things. Pope Leo XIII, in one of his writings, recommended every lay person to join the Franciscan 3rd order as a means to combat the Free Masons. But any 3rd order would have the same effect as long as it keeps to its original purpose. A good traditional 3rd order of Franciscans is the 3rd Order of the Marian Friars Minor which is an international one, and run by Tridentine Friars. I am certain that the ICKSP would also be a great choice. Another option would be to design a rule of life for you and your family and have it approved by a good spiritual director. I would think though that being under the mantle of a bigger organization would have greater spiritual benefits compared to an individual rule. God bless.
@@JJ-og2jq Thank you. I hope they find it edifying. My purpose in writing the book was to try and encourage faith in God, especially in a great love for the Christ Child in the mystery of Christmas, and by remembering our Guardian Angels and the Saints. God bless.
Great to hear from this recent convert. First he was an Anglican priest. Then he showed up in bishop's garb as part of some other sort of denomination. Now he's Catholic and shows up for Crisis Magazine, EWTN, Nigel Farage, Fox News. What next, Vigano? SSPX?
PRAYER TO MARY, QUEEN OF THE ANGELS [ August Queen of Heaven Prayer ] An Indulgence of 500 days. (S. C. Ind., July 8, 1908; S. P. Ap., Mar. 28, 1935) August Queen of Heaven and Mistress of the Angels, thou who hast received from God the power and the mission to crush the head of Satan: we humbly ask thee to send to us thy heavenly legions so that, under thy command, they may pursue the demons let loose upon the earth, fight them everywhere, vanquish their audacity, and drive them back into the abyss. “Who is like unto God?” O good and tender Mother, thou shalt ever be our love and our hope. O divine Mother, send the Holy Angels to defend us [me] and repel far from us [me] the cruel enemy. Holy Angels and Archangels, defend and keep us. Amen. THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS PRAYER [Please Read] The faithful are asked to say this prayer frequently and fervently. It is of great importance given the following remarkable background: [1] The prayer was dictated by the Blessed Mother herself to the holy and venerable priest, Fr. Louis-Édouard Cestac, on January 13, 1863 as a means to combat the powers of Hell. [2] An exorcism prayer in itself, this is a formidable prayer for “spiritual battle” especially needed for our times when the ravages caused by the fallen angels are everywhere conspicuous and unrelenting. [3] It is a prayer approved by the Church: It was recommended to the faithful by Pope Pius IX, and later indulgenced by both Popes Leo XIII and Pius X. Prayers of the Auxilium Christianorum - Fr. Chad A Ripperger O Mother of Love, Charity and Mercy, O Mother of Prayer and Stigma, O Mother of Immaculate
Jolly good show, lads! I enjoyed hearing his wonderful English voice. The idea of him trying to almost go undercover to reclaim the Church of England is actually a rather funny story. But how much more would the sinister conniving of the wicked enemies of the Church be willing to adopt a sort of kenosis about Catholic teaching and theology in order to try and steer the Church towards their ideological ends?
as an English convert to the Catholic Faith please disregard Gavin's comments about the monarchy. there are NO issues/problems/difficulties with being a Catholic and being loyal to the Crown, of course we wish H.M. was Catholic
I did not take his comments in that way. I think he was just emphasizing how learning the truth about Catholic history versus the Protestant propaganda can make us see the crown in a much different light. The 40 English Martyrs and many other English Catholics who were martyred by the crown remained loyal to to that crown even unto death, but simply would not compromise their religion by calling the Queen the Head of the Church.

You’ll be happy to know that the coffee hour (social time) is de rigeur after Ordinariate Masses 😉
Depends on the church - after our FSSP Mass (in England), we most definitely have a 'coffee hour'. In fact, it usually goes beyond the 'hour'!
Some Catholic churches in New Orleans had in onced a week after 8am Mass but stopped with Covid.
Have coffee hour with donuts every week after Mass at my Catholic parish in Brewster, NY.
Love listening to an educated Englishman
This was a wonderful and wide-ranging interview. Far wider than just the state of Catholicism in England.
Thank You for this! Visit the Anglican Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter in Houston, Texas.
and pray for the brave, good Catholic; Fr Vaughn Treco an Ordinariate priest punished and persecuted by the hierarchy for speaking the truth.
Gavin "shakes my screen". Gotta luv him.
Excellent talk. Thankyou.
Great interview, great guest.
Thank you. Brilliant!
Btw pope Francis sent a letter to the German bishops stating that you can't change the Church to accommodate secular world
Great show, learned a lot!

Completely off track about the Church. Dreadful and inaccurate outlook.
In what way?
that which is asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence
Which Church is he off track ???
