This was such a ground-breaking movie and way ahead of its time. Also, this movie was so different because the protagonist never undergoes any kind of character growth. He is just a plot device to help the other characters grow and evolve, especially the antagonist

Chatur(Silencer) was born in Uganda, and brought up in Puduchery(French spoken region in India), that's why he doesn't understand Hindi well. On the other hand to impress Virus, Librarian written the speech in highbrow Hindi, Chatur said he will memorize it, he doesn't want to know the meaning. it seems you missed the whole part. that's why you are confused. The whole point of the scene is to comment on memorizing/cramming method of studying. and it seems you missed the essence of this scene.

I love the scene where Virus gives Rancho the pen. Not only he acknowledges his student but answers the first question Rancho asked him when they met. Giving him an answer why he was wrong and can't always be right but also praising him for asking the question thus making him an extraordinary student.
Aamir Khan has had a fantastic streak of movies, especially from 2001 to 2016. My favorite films of his are 3 IDIOTS (2009), LAGAAN (2001), and RANG DE BASANTI (2006) (with special mention to TAARE ZAMEEN PAR (2007), his first and to date only film he also directed). Believe it or not, he was 44 years old when 3 IDIOTS released.
Speaking of which, the same 3 male leads of 3 IDIOTS also appeared in RANG DE BASANTI as well.

I never understood the hype for this movie before I watched it. 3 idiots still remains as one of the best hindi movies I have seen. Seeing reactors being able to connect emotionally with the movie proves what a gem of a movie this is.

this movie is loved by almost everyone because it brings awareness around things like suicides and rote learning, i mean india still has a long way to go in those areas for eg i study comp engg at GBPUAT college of tech and in my 3 years here there have been 2 suicides already.... so yeah still some work needs to be done .
I remember watching this in our English class because our teacher was feeling good. He also had us watch The Life of Pi the next day.

Another fact that makes silencers speech on teacher's day more controversial in the movie plot is the fact that rancho actually changed " chamatkar ( miracle ) to balatkar (r*pe ). If you read the speech translated correctly..you would think silencers about be hanged ( npi) 😂😂😂

if u have not seen ANDHADHUN movie u r missing out biggggggggggggg time that movie will shock you intensely every 25 mins or so and there are sooooooo many shocks in the movie u will just go crazy watch it....and don't even look or read the basic plot at imbd because the synopsis will spoil the first shock the movie offers
