I'm glad you mentioned that it can be plugged in with an otg cable. I have a Moga and the Bluetooth causes stuttering and breaking up of the image on Moonlight game stream. I was looking for a controller with an arm that works through USB and Bluetooth. I will look into this controller!
What most reviews fail to mention is that there is no xinput support over Bluetooth. The only controller that actually does it is the Steelseries Stratus XL, so you need to fork out a premium if you want a single controller for multiple devices that require xinput without mucking around with dongles.

About the input lag. How bad is it compared to the competition out there? Are there Bluetooth controllers that have much better/lower input lag over Bluetooth? Or is it a limitation in the Bluetooth protocol itself?
Well I bought the Gamesir G4s today and tried to set it up. In theory its a nice controller. In actuality, it is super flaky. There are three modes: wireless, Bluetooth A, and Bluetooth B. To switch between then you press X + Home to activate wireless, A + home to activate Bluetooth A, and B + Home to Activate Bluetooth B. The home button flashes the color that represents whatever mode it is "supposed" to be in. Blue for Wireless, Green for Wireless A, and Orange for Wireless B. I inserted the dongle in the firetv and activated wireless mode (X + home). The controller finds the dongle and I can navigate. Great! I powered the controller off. Switch on the Steam Link and put the controller into Bluetooth B by selecting B+ Home. I get the flashing Orange home button. The steamlink finds the controller. I have a few issues with it not connecting but it finally does. Im seeing issues where pressing left analog over once and the cursor moves twice to the left (same issue with right) sporadically. Poweroff the controller and switch back to the FIretv. Power on the controller using X + home and the controller gives a solid blue light and a rumble saying its connected. Great right? No. The firetv cant be controlled. Perplexed, I switch back to the steam link and the controller is connected via bluetooth. But that cant be right as I have activated the wireless mode, not bluetooth. Power off the controller again. Try different modes and they all default to bluetooth. I cannot get wireless to be selected or work at all. It seems once the controller is paired via bluetooth, that is the only mode it wants to use. Also, when unplugging it from charging it becomes unresponsive. None of the buttons work and I cant get it to come on. I plug it back in and it doesnt show its charging. It is dead. I have to use the reset button on the controller. Maybe its a defective controller. I can try another one. Right now its been pretty infuriating trying to set up this controller.
Some phones like the Axon 7 the top of the slider will push on the power buttons so you have to kind of move the phone over a little to the left. They need to make a open slot on the top slider so power buttons don't get pressed down, or Android needs to make a option to DISABLE hardware power buttons while you are playing a game. My G5 won't have any issues since the PWR button is a finger print sensor on the back of the phone.
I've watched both your G3S review and this G4S review, and I'm wondering what your settings are on the Sega Genesis emulator (looks like MD.emu). While emulation and Bluetooth do introduce input delay, I haven't experienced as bad of a delay as you have. Did you try disabling Wi-Fi, mobile data and location services on the phone before playing? Doing this on my V20 has worked wonders in regards to input latency. If that makes no difference, the other thing you absolutely MUST do is set the GPU copy mode to "standard." NEVER leave it on "auto."
Lon the old one had a screw in the middle of the slider which apparently scratched some peoples phones. The newer one the slider design doesn't have an exposed screw.
Hi Lon, I watched your review on the G3s and bought one, however once I got it I found the analog sticks had a major problem: they "stick" to the vertical and horizontal axes. What this means is if I am pushing fully up and start to increasingly turn to towards the left, the joystick will hold dead centre up to a particular point and then snap out towards the diagonal; the same phenomenon can be found when slowing moving away from all 4 compass points (N, S, W, E). I couldn't figure out why I wasn't able to control my car properly in Rocket League at first, but once I got into the windows joystick test control panel (where it shows axis readings and button inputs) it became super obvious what was going on. Now I'm not sure if I ended up with a counterfeit controller, or this is just a flaw in the genuine product. I noticed in this review that your testing in GTA appeared to pan perfectly horizontally, suggesting the same issue might be found on this controller. Could you please do me a huge favour and do the same control panel checks for the G3s and G4s and let me know your results? Also it would probably be a useful addition to your future videos to include footage of the joystick test control panel because sensitivity and/or dead zone issues in the analog sticks are highlighted very clearly here. If the G4s has fixed this problem (or a genuine G3s unit doesn't have it), I would look at buying a replacement because apart from the analog stick issue the controller felt really nice. I think the lag doesn't because of the gamepad itself, it could be the emulator that you're using. I've using Gamesir G4S playing epsxe & ppsspp and it way more responsive than my old Ipega 9025. But yeah sometimes it freezes when i'm using bluetooth to my phone. But when i'm using it with the dongle it run smoothly like a proper controller

Yes, in a way. Let me explain. You can swap both the left analog stick and the dpad's function but NOT PHYSICALLY. You do this my doing a button combination on the controller, which is Clear (there is a "Clear" button under the bracket) + left thumbstick (L3). For example, in GTA San Andreas, the left analog is for movement while the dpad is for gang control and response to NPCs. Once you press Clear + L3, you now use the left analog for gang control and response, and your dpad for character movement. Hit Clear + L3 again and you're back to the original config.
I have the previous version he reviewed and I see no compelling reason to upgrade. The phone holder on the GS3 I have looks sturdier than the built in holder on the newer one, though it is hard to tell from just looking. The only advantage I see is the built in USB dongle holder but this isn't worth $40!

I have to hit the reset at the back to make it work again!!! If you don't believe me just search up this product on amazon and read the critical review in which many people have complain about this controller freezing up. So until gamesir fix this problem hopefully with a firmware update do not buy the g4s!!!

If you got the G4 instead of the G4S the controller does not come with the wireless USB dongle so in order to use it on your computer you would have to use a long Micro-USB cable from the controller to your computer.

The delay would kill it for me, no matter how good the controller is the delay would ruin it. Please tell me that is the result of the emulator as with the USB you still had a delay when on the android phone. I am to use the controller for first person games on Samsung Gear VR, so input lag would have a massive effect.

The delay would kill it for me, no matter how good the controller is the delay would ruin it. Please tell me that is the result of the emulator as with the USB you still had a delay when on the android phone.
I am to use the controller for first person games on Samsung Gear VR, so input lag would have a massive effect.
Mike McCall I use it with happy chick emulator and I dont notice any delay on a sega game I beat as a kid so its possibly the emulator
