#boardgames #Top10 - เกม
While making this list we apparently forgot the entire Tiny Epic line existed. So one of those could definitely be on this list
I thought you were going to mention that you were excluding that whole line cuz being small it’s kinda like it’s gimmick.
Yeah but which single one, would you pick?
No love for the Mint series?
Well, some of those Tiny Epic games take up a huge amount of space on the table. That's what's so impressive about those. Probably the game that is a small footprint is Tiny Epic Galaxies. I'm interested in your #1 and #2 games though. They are very intriguing.
And how about the wallet-style games by Button Shy?
Three more that take very little table space and are great for trips: Point Salad, Land Sea and Air, and Citadels.
I've taught several friends how to play The Red Cathedral because not only is the gameplay really tight and fun, but it fits into a smaller box. I purchased an insert from Etsy and setup is a breeze. Eagerly awaiting my delivery of The White Castle!
This was truly posted at the right time! My father is in the hospital, and I've been wanting to bring games that we can play together while visiting. Thank you so much!
That’s awesome. Hope your Pop gets outta there soon!
You guys are becoming one of my favourite channels you have such a prevalent knowledge of board games that you recommend so many games I hadn’t heard before but am now interested to try out, keep it up!
Thank you so much for the kind words!
Great list! I would definitely add The Red Cathedral, so much game similar to the White Castle.
Masters of Renaissance - Lorenzo il Magnifico The Card Game is a great game for this list. Lots of game play with a relatively small footprint.
Just recently played It's a Wonderful World and could not be happier with the very limited size, same with Splendor Duel
Love the topic! I'm really into little games right now.
Fantastic list..... the Village Rails segment made me laugh out loud because I had the same reaction. I ordered the game online and when it came in the mail I thought I was getting pranked. The box was so small while the pictures made it look like a full table sized game.
Great list/video! I purchased The White Castle and Village Rails because of it. And at great deals - price wise.
I started your video and am currently cracking into unbreakable and thought "hmm this game does a lot with a little...*looks at all of the stuff* sort of" good pick!
I just love games that give you lots of game in a small box!
Some of my favorites are: A fistful of meeples (like Five Tribes with a western theme), Little Town, Tybor the Builder, Sky Team, Knarr, Goblin Vaults (crunchy hidden gem), Mining colony, La Isla (Stefan Feld), Artifacts Inc. and Botanik.
Oh my goods, all the tiny epic series, the red cathedral (i really like this game), targi, patchwork, parks, canopy,
I love games that do a lot with a little. It's a great sign of really smart, elegant design. A few of my faves that fit this are Animal Kingdoms, Songbirds, Targi, Nova Luna, High Society, or even Modern Art, and a pretty underrated little gem - Food Truck Champion.
We like Brew for this; the main board is small and so are the character cards, leaving good space for your animals and potions! Play it on a coffee table all the time. Good video, thanks for sharing
For me, the smallest footprint and the biggest impact has been Homeworlds. Part of the the Pyramid Arcade line up, but you can get this one separately... But this one is such an amazing 2 player game and for such a small box, and such few components, it is an amazing 4X game of sorts.
Another one in the similar vein is Hive. Very deep strategic game with just a few Bakelite pieces. Amazing. Tak is also another game I would like to shout out. You can even get cloth bags to carry the pieces and also have a printed board on the bag.. Very portable but such deep strategy. Incredible.
Thanks for the list! It's useful type of a list cause gaming space really is important aspect of gaming and a big issue often times
Great topic, cool list! Love it!
Thanks!
I think AllPlay has doneva pretty good job with their choice of games. Bites is my personal favorite, so much variability with a simple ruleset. Flatout games as well.
Agreed!
Targi and Res arcana are the first that came in my mind
Great list as always, and I will add to it literally every game by Carl Chudyk (except for maybe Bear Valley) as well as Race for the Galaxy!!!! :)
Besides some of the great suggestions we see in the components, we like Villainous, Trails, Cat in the Box, Fox in the Forest Duet, Floriferous, Welcome To the Moon
Wow, awesome list! The only game I have on the list is 7 Wonders Duel plus one expansion which is awesome. So many other intriguing games on the list. The standout curiosity for me is The Legacy of Yu. It looks so appealing as a solo play that appears as an actual board game. It’s kind of pricey though. Maybe a bit more complex than I want.
I thought Beer and Bread may be on the list too as I know you like that game and not extensive table real estate. I do enjoy the 2 player game!
village Rails! what an incredible surprise of a game, cant recommend it enough.
I would also add Jaws by Revensburger as a great one versus many game with a tiny footprint, as well as all the Dark City games, such as Bristol 1350.
Tiny Epic Vikings and Tiny Epic Dinosaurs give reasonably meaty games in a small table presence. Another would be Furnace, if you are short on space for rows of cards you can double up the rows - fundamentally it's a bunch of cards and resources, but they create a very good play experience.
All great choices!
Tonight I played Tiny Epic Vikings. My words were: such a small fotoprint for such a big game!! Was really impressed with it!
Jaipur, tiny epic galaxies, targi, oh my goods, and Fort of some of my smaller box favorites 😊
When you said "you are Yu" in the Legacy of Yu section, all I could see/hear was the Chris Tucker scene from Rush Hour 3 😂😂😂😂
Viking ship! Great choices overall. Ya'll know I'm gonna recommend some Button Shy games for this list: Ancient Realm, ROVE, and Heirarchy. I also can't help but mention Oh My Goods, such a good thinky game in such a tiny package.
Oh My Good is definitely a top pick for me. I was kind of thinking they were leaning toward games that actually have a board, or else I would have shouted out Race for the Galaxy as well.
Vaalbara would be my pick. A fair bit of game in a few cards!
I love Clans of Caledonia and it definitely has a small box, but I wouldn't say it takes a low amount of table space. It ends up pretty sprawling when all set up, in my opinion. Great game, though. One of the few games that I would argue could actually use a *slightly* larger box, because it can be difficult to actually fit it all in there if you aren't precise.
My vote for great small box games are Targi and Watergate. And, of course, the first edition of Pax Renaissance will also hold the record for the most game crammed into the least box. But that game is not for most people, probably including you guys.
A couple of my suggestions would be, Token Terrors and button shy games.
lol the Editing being visible at 12:03 haha, also do you credit when you take snippets from other peoples videos?
In this video all footage for b roll was shot by us and when at all possible we film our own. When we can’t get footage of our own we usually defer to using promotional footage from the publisher itself. We don’t use other content creators footage as a general rule but if we did we’d get permission from them first and then absolutely credit them :)
Thanks. Added more to my want list haha
Yessssss
I originally thought the concept for this video was boardgames with the most game packed into the smallest box. 😅 I think Burgle Bros is the most game per square inch I've ever seen and I still admire the packaging
Demon Worker is my go to small footprint Worker Placement. Such a great game, so streamlined with just brutal decisions of an efficiency puzzle.
We have always wanted to try that game!
It's in my top 10 regardless of size. It's just...perfect for what it is.@@TheBrothersMurph
What are the dimensions of the board game in Village Rails ?
These days, with the size of game footprints, does that mean Arkham horror with all expansions is a small footprint? 😂
It’s basically a micro game
i would add beer and bread to that list. i`m getting more and more interested in the white castle.
Great list and fun commentary. You need to make a drinking game out of your videos. We all take a drink every time one of you says “flex”.
That might be a very dangerous game to play with that video in particular
Clans is the best #1 choice for this list, plus it’s a top ten of all time game too. However, you are missing “oh My Goods!” on this list-it’s a Euro game in a deck of cards!
I need to show that one to Nick! Love that it’s only cards
I just ordered Paint the Roses based on a couple of recommendations you’ve made.
Nice!
My kids and I love Tiny Epic Vikings, Trails and BOOoop lately
Trails is a great choice for this list
Paladins of the West Kingdom, Circadians: First Light and Raiders of Scythia are the main ones I thought of that were not mentioned.
Definitely with you on circadians!
As a solo player I am done with large footprint games. I have gravitated to Verb and Writes because of this and I don’t have time to set up a bunch of crap
You guys rock!!!
Jump scare at 12:08. Very spooky! ;)
Hahahaha
Haven't started the video yet, but I'm gonna guess Arboretum is somewhere on here!
12:01 i dont think you intended for that too happen in the video boys!
Looks like you forgot to cut out a part there!
Whoops yeah I left the video long before my fade! Oops!
@@TheBrothersMurph amazing! Haha
Glad i could help out
This is the same mindset I went into Essen with…came back with 23 games, in my caryover bag 😂😱🥰 also, looks t me that World’s fair looks a lot like Animal kingdome, in more areas than one: same hexagonal assambled main board, cards played around and even colored cubes that are place and colected on and from the board….you should check that one out 😄
Will do!
If you like Village Rails, check out Cafe and Lata, both from Pythagoras Games.
Oooh will do!
The Castles of Burgundy Card Game comes in a box roughly the size of Love Letter and isn't very far off from the original game as far as depth/complexity goes. When I first got the game I genuinely thought for some reason that it would be a super stripped down game but it really isn't.
It’s pretty amazing how much of the full game experience they got into the card game
What about Façade Game games?? They're not only small footprint on the table, but also on the shelf (the size and look of a book!). They're latest content is similar to Secret Hitler, but no one dies! So Good!
Those are great picks!
Thanks!
Thanks for the gift!!!
Watergate. Pax Renaissance 1st edition.
Good luck finding Clans of Caledonia, been out of print for years
As we mentioned briefly in the video, they have an expansion and re-print coming soon
I missed that part. Well well its about time. @@TheBrothersMurph
Waaaaaay overdue
Sorta disagree with TMB. Sure, playing the scenario itself takes up very little table space, but having to source the dice when you upgrade and referencing the character sheets takes space.
I can dig it
Clans of Caledonia is such a good game. I wish they made an expansion for it.
Coming soon actually wahoo!
Age of Galaxy has to be place one here
Honestly, Village Rails fired Earth for me. While Earth is cool, space and time are a premium for me, so VR takes its place.
Sea, Salt& Paper!
How does Clans of Caledonia play with 2 player?
Now do, the good games that have too much box space, like splendor.
Yeah unnecessarily large boxes is a whole sin in of its self
Tiny Epic Galaxies. Lots of strategy, great table presence, but not a lot of space.
Yeah if we had to choose one Tiny Epic game to be on this list, we’d choose that one
One glaring omission from this list... GWT: NZ!
JK 😂... My picks would be Hadara, Queendomino and Beer and Bread.
Of course Clans of Caledonia is also a fantastic pick!
"board is this big" something completely different on B roll every time 😅
Gotta keep you guessing
Some of the cards in Village Rails have a stupid misprint. See 24:51. It's a brilliant game, and the misprint doesn't affect gameplay, but these things just shouldn't happen.
I’m not sure I see the misprint
@@TheBrothersMurph Look on the white card to the left of the tableau. "point point"
Ah yeah never noticed haha
I'd like to see a list that is somewhat the opposite. Games that are really good but don't get to the table as often because they are bigger than they need to be. The new Stonemaier Expeditions game is like that for me. An excellent game that I really enjoy. However, if it were half the size I would play it way more often.
Interesting idea for sure
As a solo gamer I'm biased and think Legacy of Yu should be #1 haha
Fair!
Watching 🎉
No Mint Works?
Naw but it’s a good’n
Tiny Epic Galaxies
Friday
Citadels
Mission to Planet Hexx
Innovation
Lanterns
Splendor Duel
I'm surprised I didn't see any Button Shy's wallet games on this list.
You know we really haven’t played that many buttons are games yet, but we do enjoy them quite a bit. The ones we have tried.
watergate, condottiere
Oooo Watergate’s a great choice! Mike hasn’t played that one yet
Hey guys. We need some new unmatched epidodes.
(Beowulf, Cobble and Fog, Brains and Brawns)
They are planned we just haven’t had time to get them filmed :( but they should be soon!
@@TheBrothersMurph Woohooooo ❤❤
Trick taking games fall in the abstract side of gaming I guess?
I think we subconsciously steered away from pure card games like that, and focused more on ones that have boards/tableau's. But trick taking games are a great choice for a list like this
I recommend Strike Harry Potter edition.
I’ve heard it adds to the game which is neat
@@TheBrothersMurph and it’s easier to involve your daughter in the game :)
Awesome! She mostly wants to eat the dice but hey that’s showing interest in board gaming in my book
Wait... the White Castle isn't about sliders?
In our hearts it is
@@TheBrothersMurph in my stomach it is.
Where Inheritors at, bro?!
We haven’t played yetttttttt
JORAKU.
Write down this game's name.
A roll and write game reduces production costs, and shipping expenses. If a developer can succeed at creating a memorable experience. The value people have with the game can be quickly assessed. When learning to play takes 10 minutes, or less.
54 cards, 1 rule card, 1 diagram/business card, 6 polyhedral dice, and 40 poker chips.
If you guys say flex one more time I'm going to sneak into your homes and steal one card from every game you own.
Well it’d be a flex if you did so ball is in your court ;)
You must not have noticed yet......@@TheBrothersMurph
What. Have. You. Done?!
I snuck in and shuffled all your game's decks. You'll never be able to undo it. Bwah ha ha ha@@TheBrothersMurph
You didn’t say *flex* nearly often enough. Say it fifty more times! Flex!
FLEEEEEEX
Murphs: "We chose to make a couple of exclusions-"
Me: "Oh, let me guess - micro games like Buttonshy, Tiny Epic, Mint Series, Pack o Gum Series, and Pocket versions of larger games?"
Murphs: "No... but literally none of those made the list."
Me: "B-b-b-but those are tailor-made for exactly this kind of list!"
Murphs: "Yes, but they suck."
Me: "Not all of them."
Murphs: "They exclused themselves. By sucking. GET REKT!"
Git REKT!
Nothing compares to Age of Civilization in this regard IMO.
Sad you focused mostly on 2p games. 1 and 2p games are usually small by design because there is only 1 or 2 people ever at the table
To push back a little we have a grand total of three games that are solo or two player so that doesn’t nearly qualify as most. We wanted to give a variety of suggestions, but didn’t want to only hit two player and solo games because I agree they do typically take up less space as there are fewer players.
You guys always do a bang-up job with the videos, but, when you keep saying something is "this big", try not to when you're showing shots of the game.
Haha editing happens after the fact so timing that up would be rough plus we figure it’s just easier to show the game so you can see for yourself
I mean... they did say something is "this big" while literally showing a picture of how big it is. Technicality or not, doesn't get much more accurate than that.
We lucked into that
