I’m really beginning to appreciate your wee rants and more importantly Dani’s complete indifference to them. Another informative vlog that introduced me to my grandads home county, and I’m ashamed to say I’ve never explored it, I will now!
The rants are just how my mind works, they are always well intended and i always get over them pretty much instantly. I think a lot of people struggle with my videos thinking if i have a rant it means i hate the place. I rant all the time even when i love somewhere haha. Dani balances me out, she always throws an opposite opinion out there and i love it. We always debate random crap! You must come up here its gorgeous in most parts especially along the coast.
Thanks for posting and sharing your experiences, I live in Northumberland and like yourself I’ve visited most of the places on the N250. I’m planning to try the N250 after Xmas and new year. I would normally head to the highlands but I’m gonna try something different.
Good lad, I knew you would get around to doing it sooner or later. Its a trip I want to do in my Grasnd Cali or my defender, great video and food for thought. Keep up the good work
I'm afraid to say that English councils are anti Vans very much because of the bands of (mainly) Irish travellers who hit towns in the spring and summer, I live in the South Devon area and we get swarmed by gipsies in motorhomes who wreak havoc in the local communities. Councils are more often than not left with significant costs in repairing damage and cleaning up piles of mess left when they've left the carparks. Because of this decent campervan and motorhome owners get treated the same as gipsies.
As a Yorkshire lad who lives in the Dales, I know we have it good round here in terms of scenery, but I will champion Northumberland, Cumbria, Scotland and, dare I say it, bits of the badlands (that there Lancashire) all day long.
Congratulations to Dani for telling Chris to live in the moment - stop comparing, start enjoying. Congratulations to both of you for showing two things for me:- The N250 is an amazing road trip and I loved the mix of coastal sections and the inner Hadrian wall sections. The other thing for me, thank you for talking about the digital apartheid (sorry if that offends anyone) that you encounter in England when you leave a town or city and move into more rural areas.
Forgot to add, I used the park up at Beadnell Bay last June - hats off to Northumberland Council for providing overnight spaces. - this should be expanded nationwide where vans go. Adding Holy Island car park would be decent, along with a few out Hexham way too.
Without her id moan even more than i do. She helps me view things differently which works perfect for a stubborn habit former like me haha. Yeah the N250 is a great route, we are planning on doing it again since we live so close. England really need to step up their game for 4g etc, Norway had full 4G literally in every area no matter how rural and their terrain is a lot harder to work with than ours. No excuse really!
I definitely think its a start but the trial has been going on for a while and the very limited numbers of spaces are a bit of a joke considering the sheer number of car parks available. Plus its the same council that put the height barriers on a lot of the car parks which is just a naive and ill informed way of "Dealing" with campervan owners which is a huge chunk of their tourism
@@ChrisSloanesIf I was that close, I'd be there every weekend. And I agree - our digital inclusion strategy is shit, and we really do need to improve massively as a country in this area.
@@ChrisSloanesI did the feedback survery for the council, but surely any decent business will know how much they made last summer - purely as they would be monitoring the outcome. You would like to think. And I agree - the height barriers are annoying, I can. get my van under most - but some gently buff the solar panels wiring hump.
Yeah that was a joke actually. I forgot to mention that in the video. We didnt leave until around 11am but i guess in more summer months they will be around early to try to catch people out
Hi Chris, Can you put up a map of this trip please. Just been up around Durham , High Force and Yorkshire Dales and was thinking about Yorkshire Coast and up to the Borders
Hey, i got my map from the NLand250 website. You can sign up on the website i linked below and they email you the actual google maps route. northumberland250.com/route
Hi Chris Just stumbled across your vlog. It was like listening to me to me talking. What a pathetic trial. You might know Craster could accommodate dozens of vans and nobody would know they were there. I’m gonna drive the route myself just for the hell of it. Not done Norway yet but I’m always drawn to Alps n Dolomites.
I know, if your going to run a trial then at least give it a chance. Not a tiny number! Norway ruined everything for me, it was incredible. I loved it that much we are buying a house there! It’s a good route well worth a drive
I have been to those places several times so I must like it up there. Shame about the places to overnight though. As a van lifer I have found that the mess was made worse by the " We'll buy a campervan cos we can't get to Benidorm brigade, c>nts !
200% agree. Vanlifers are just an easy target to blame for anything like that. Plus it doesnt help that our coast line is full of old rich people that hate everyone that isnt also old and rich so we must look like tramps to all of them lot!
We were the t5 van who stayed in Kielder at the weekend with you, passed you on the forest drive as well. Thought I recognised your van, good work showing off the north east! Class place for cycling and walking and only 80 mins from Newcastle 👍
Ah yes i remember. Looked cool with the black trim around the arches and along the side. I went for a similar look with my Cali Ocean i used to have. Thanks mate glad you liked the video
Chris why not try the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. This is in the county of Powys, where the council allows campervans to stay 1 night in 7 in almost all there car parks. Most are free from 6pm. Check it out mucker or drop me a message for more info. Currently serving Army Officer living in Wales 🏴
Hey mate. That’s great I didn’t know that and last time we were in wales the weather was pretty awful so we headed back up north. Would be up for that I’ll drop you a message at some point when we have some time to get across to wales.
Id have to disagree. Id say its the best in England (if there was nobody there but as you said its always rammed packed) but the best in the UK is up Scotland by a mile. Either up north or the western beaches like. We are looking to do the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland in a few weeks and that also looks incredible coastline wise
Just come across your channel by accident, just got TH-cam up on the TV and your video was there, had to come on here and subscribe and give you a like as you sound just like us ranting about the facilities and signal in England 😂 makes us sick they make vans and Motorhomes so unwelcome when we bring money to the local economy. Great informative vlog, look forward watching your others. 😊
First video of yours i’ve watched but if the the rest are like this one them i’ll give them a pass, you’ll have me suicidal with all your whinging and whining 🤣
I cant explain how much that place blew my mind. Id dreamt about moving to Canada from being a kid and hadnt even considered Norway until we got there. I fell in love with it as we docked in Kristiansand never mind when we started the actual roadtrip.
@@ChrisSloanes I guess we get a pluss for the lack of carnivores who'd eat you too😅 I grew about an hour west of Kristiansand, and now live about the same to the east. Over the years I've covered a fair few miles around the country, but not as many as I'd like. I love the contrast between the regions, and that so much is still mostly untouched. But just you wait until you get to the northern parts! Summer or winter; 24 hour daylight, or Aurora Borealis. Be prepared for long drives; Kristiansand to Nordkapp is about the same as Kristiansand to Barcelona...

Mate, we did the Kielder Forest Road and LOVED it....Top tip that, cheers Chris!
England has some stunning scenery
Beautiful up there mate, seahouses, Beadnell bay, budle bay. Cracking scenery.

Miss northumberland even the weather. Especially Cragside hall

As usual, top video and honest review 👏👏
Thanks again glad you enjoyed it
Glad you got a bit more positive towards the end of the video.
Stayed in the Bamburgh car park myself in August. What is really daft is the ridiculous time you had to leave in the morning
Yeah that was a joke actually. I forgot to mention that in the video. We didnt leave until around 11am but i guess in more summer months they will be around early to try to catch people out
Dude. That edit….. the drone shot where the writing changes. 👏
We dud thus last October .certainly and amazing route. Lovely scenery. Plenty of castles ect to visit
Yeah its gorgeous. Luckily we are from here so over the years ive visited pretty much everywhere on this roadtrip with my parents when i was younger.
Why do you do a tour if you 'dont like the countryside'?
Great video. I’m from Durham and was thinking about doing the Northumberland 250 over Christmas. 👍
You should give it a try. Can easily be done in a couple of days so its not a massive time commitment.
abrupt end, did you kill a womble on the road, at that point?
Great video mate
Thanks 👍
Hello……come to Portugal 🇵🇹….you have always phone signal and good food and Praia ( beach)….i like your country and van
I would love to come to portugal. We are planning some hot weather travelling next year so Portugal could potentially be on the list!
I recomend all Portugal
But Tróia ( Setúbal) to Sagres it s amazing….lots off beach and good food

Most of the messes I’ve witnessed have been left by boy racers and locals. Most “van people” clear up shite left by others!!!
