@Alco Power - Did you notice how well the trees are 'maintained' - nothing on, or, 'over- hanging' the tracks. This part at least is what I would call a "Farmed Forest" with all the trees neatly spaced out and not masses of 'undergrowth' to allow them to grow to their maximum.

How low footprint?

It looks like a narrow gauge logging railroad. There are still a few like this in the US, many operating as tourist railroads, such as Cass Scenic RR in West Virginia. Narrow gauge railroads have rails closer together and smaller rolling stock, and for logging they built them like this. The train you see in the beginning is using a switchback, where the train pulls into a spur, then backs up through the switch to continue uphill or downhill. It's not an efficient way to climb mountains for a large railroad but it works for small ones like this. Mountain railroads like this will use several switchbacks to climb up and down hillsides.

Nice video. Thanks. I Rode this train up to Ali Shan and back in spring of 1988. I remember lots of Wasabi growing very thickly at some elevation. A wonderful experience.

This looks like the tracks that go through the woods a few blocks from my house. The trees are different but they arch over the tracks like a tunnel. I love walking it. If you go the other direction there's hundreds of acres of forest to explore off the tracks.

To look at the tracks you would think that nobody ever uses it. It's so quiet and peaceful then slowly but surely the train comes trundling along but even then it still looks quite surreal.

As far as I know, the bamboo railway is in Cambodia and Philippines. However, in recent years, Cambodia's railway equipment has been updated, and it is unknown whether the bamboo railway exists.

There is a light switch on the caboose. The station in the video has no signal lights, and the train conductor will give instructions to start the train. This is in Taiwan.

I'm curious what they were hauling. They load it in what looks like a garbage or tote bag with handles. I notice the gondolas were empty towards the end of the video. They were unloaded somewhere along the way. Do you know what cargo they were carrying?

Thank you for your watching. The train is loaded with sand, gravel and cement, and these cargoes are carried to the construction site. Those white bags are commonly called "Space Bag(Bulk Bag)" in Taiwan.
