Coming from two very talented parents, his famous actor dad Donald and mom, actress and activist Shirley Douglas, he cannot help but carry on their tradition of spot on performances. My personal favorite film of Kiefer’s, ‘Truth or Consequences NM’ in which he displayed his talents as a director.
For a voice acting role you do need quite a lot of speaking lines to have a great performance, otherwise its a wasted performance. Mad Max Fury Road is live action so it's an Apples to Oranges comparison.

Ive been exposing my friends to Lost Boys, The Killing Time, Stand By Me, Dark City and a few other favorites. Needless to say they're enjoying his work. I havent seen Phone Booth but that clip definitely had me wanting to.

I don't think watchmojo truly appreciates how great 24 is, especially for its time. It was ahead of its time with the level of storytelling it was achieving on network television. Jack Bauer is truly one of the greatest fictional action heroes ever in film or tv. Regarding tv, he might be #1 on that list.
This is so hard for me to pick because he's my favorite actor of all times! I knew 24 was going to be number 1 but I'm kind of disappointed it wasn't The Lost Boys because that's the movie that made me fall in love with him
but even as a 10 year old I think I was able to separate Doob the Psychopathic rapist child killer from KIefer nice guy great actor he is a hero he does not die in YG2 he simply rode away to France changed his Identity to Athos and became lead Musketeer to protect the King and Queen among the other people darn you MIlady Dewinter darn you to heck she did not kill hum but she crippled his spirit but he and Rebecca were good together she played that character as flawed but she loved him if only him so I cannot hate her I even wish her to not die but she did what she did to spare him more anguish for one of having to witness her beheading and take part and who knows what else her way she alone ended her life whether she was guilty of murder or not at this point is not even spoken but I read in the book the first kill was his brother but it was self defense and Athos did not believe her this one would the 93 version was more romantic and heroic and friendship driven they were all for one one for all
So many memorable performances, but somehow The Lost Boys always comes to mind first to me (followed closely by Stand By Me). Loved that dig at Twilight by the way, haha.
Kiefer is agelessly sexy. I love his voice, he's such a talented actor, and I would watch anything that has his name on it. One of my favourite roles of his is one that's not mentioned here, because it wasn't commercially successful. It's a film called Last Light from about 1992, where he plays a death row convict. It's an amazing performance.
Dark City is among my favorite movies ever, and Kiefer Sutherland turns in an awesome performance as Dr. Shreber, but I think his best performance is in Phone Booth. He had me on the edge of my seat using only the power of his voice--and he's not even a professional voice actor (that I know of). That takes real talent.
I agree his role as Jack Bauer is his best ever. That is the role made for him, waiting for him. I'm sure his screen time during 24 is longer than all his movies all together, and every single second Kiefer delivers top class perfect acting performances. He's good in every role he has done. 24 is his legacy.

When the scene was done being shot he actually consoled the actress who played the victim. After the movie was done shooting, he had to go to serious therapy to get out of character. If you're going to include TV, I really wish Touch had made the list. It was an extraordinary show that only lasted two seasons but it is absolutely worth watching. I was 11 when the lost boys came out & rented it so often the video store clerk gave me a vhs for my 12th birthday. I was so into it, I spent hours reading about Vampires & folklore in my local library. I continued my interest in folk tales & cultural traditions & rituals, leading me into a career in anthropology & Archaeology until my back went out & I went back to school for a degree in history. I was never a big fan of westerns (my dad was) until young guns. I read Garrett's book & anything I could find on Billy the Kid, but it was Doc that really caught my attention. Possibly my first serious crush. In my romantic life I've always liked bad boys with a sweet streak. I think it's a combination of David & Doc, characters I was obsessed with during puberty, that formed my taste in men. These movies literally shaped my entire life. From who I was attracted to, through my academic pursuits & my entire career. I wonder if he knows that there are people who were genuinely impacted by his performances. I get how it could sound silly to say that young guns & the lost boys changed my life, but at that age they really did, and that set the direction for everything else. I love history, I love folklore & always preferred cultural anthropology to forensic anthropology. I'm imprinted by Mr. Sutherland. I'd really love to meet him someday.
