Great sail! I hope Wanderlust from now on return the passion you've put on this journey with amazing sailing, trusty behaviour and no more breaks! Fair winds! You deserve it! See you on the next!
Your video reports are classy, so it seems not only your steering system has had an upgrade! It is exciting to see life ‘as it is’ of sailing cruisers like you, with the beauty and the troubles, but I must confess that I am glad to be able to watch your pure sailing and those beautiful surroundings again, above and below the water. My fingers are crossed in advance for you, for a trouble-free crossing to Fiji!

🤩 we don’t have a schedule for the TH-cam booth yet, but if not at the TH-cam booth we will be at the Seawind dock. Looking forward to seeing you 🤩🤩 We will publish the schedule as soon as we have it!
The resort right next to the Coral Gardens has a really nice pool bar and restaurant. The Coral Gardens were very nice when we were there during the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
I have been to the coral garden many times. Its unfortunate that you didnt see it prior to the bleaching of 2014-2016 when it really was spectacular. Such a shame its nearly all dead. Northern Tonga is even worse. The diving in the Somosomo strait in Fiji is still very good so dont miss that......
😊😊😊 thank you for watching and for commenting!! The Seawind 1000XL is a great boat. Stopping to work isn’t easy, I get it, and for many reasons, different for each of us. But if you want to, and if you’re trying, you’re already halfway there. Enjoy the boat and the journey. Hopefully we cross wakes out in the water 😊😊😊💪💪
I feel your trust issues. The contrast for me is my sailboat and my washing machine at home. I'm a DIY fix it guy. On my boat I spent three weeks trying to sort out what's wrong with the vacuflush. There is no trouble shooting list, no support from the companies that made this stuff. (Speaking of which has B&G ever answered a query? ) My 16 year old washing machine? For some reason troubleshooting and how to videos are readily available. I can quickly find out what the problem is, what needs to be taken apart to get to it, and which parts I'll probably need. I actually enjoy fixing it. The videos are made by repair people and their companies. They want to sell the parts, but it takes a long time. Instead I send them $20 (probably more than they'd make on the parts.) I appreciate the help and know they aren't making any money from TH-cam. Boat issues? First of all boats are extremely complicated. We need all the help we can get. The vacuflush? I figured it out. Still not sure what the problem actually was, but I fixed it and learned a lot. (It's a great system.) Then I happened to meet the local guy who repairs them. "A lot of times we just take it out and put in something different." Have I actually learned more about it than him? That this could even happen, for me, sums up the problems with boat repairs. I don't think it should be this way. (So if anyone has a vacuflush problem I will be happy to help. Most of the cheaper duckbill valves work just fine.) And I'm sure you've experienced the Google Hole. You google How to fix.....? and get lists and lists of chats where people have asked the same question followed by "Well I heard that....", opinions. If I do find an answer, it's almost random that it's there. (AI is only making this worse. 90% of a fix it topic is people searching for help, and random opinions. (Of which this is probably one of those...))
I hear you Will, on point as usual!! Boat repairs can be a total nightmare but is a challenge that keeps us going. We spend weeks trying to fix something and there’s no real help out there on line, only help from fellow cruisers. Meanwhile, fixing a 16-year-old washing machine is a breeze with all the videos and guides. But we find satisfaction when we stick with it even when the “experts” just suggest replacing it. (Like B&G with my radar, without an answer) You’re right, it shouldn’t be this hard.🤣🤣🤣
Great video as always! Glad your steering system is fixed. Enjoying following you along on your journey, both the ups and the downs. As we are getting ready to embark on our own adventure into the great blue seas next year, your videos never fail to provide inspiration. Hope to see you in Annapolis!
🤩🤩🤩 we will be there!! Looking forward to seeing you!! Congratulations on your upcoming plans!! Make sure to find us either at the TH-cam booth or at the Seawind booth! 😊😊😊
Ha! We anchored in that exact same spot off of La Taha'a on our last pass through the Society Islands in 2009. We stayed there while we did work on our catamaran Zen. We hauled at Raiatea Carenage. Funny to see they have a huge travel lift now. We had to haul on a railway back in 2009. Anyway, thanks for the memories. Love checking in on you guys every once in a while. It motivates us for the next pass through that area.
It looks like you are having an incredible journey exploring the Tahitian islands. After ensuring your boat was well-maintained, sailing around La Taha’a must have been a delightful experience, especially with the opportunity to snorkel and witness the stunning underwater sea life ecosystem, which resembles an aquarium. The vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life must have been captivating. I imagine that transitioning from such a serene and beautiful location to sailing toward Bora Bora (Pora Pora) must be filled with anticipation for the next adventure. Your journey through the South Pacific truly looks remarkable, until then just waiting for the next upload of the Fiji crossing safe travels.
🎉💖🎉 Y. E. A. H……Kristin and Fabio ‼️ The steering seems to be working fine as the over-the-top smiles on your face (K) would indicate. OMG 😱 😊 Totally understand the trust factor from personal boating experience. It was good to see Wanderlust just making way like a bullet train in France 🇫🇷. Just truckin as we would say sailing in Maine. The snorkel drift was a total luxury experience, I am particularly fond of the giant clams and all their color. Looking forward to Bora Bora and best wishes to Yoda’s appointments. See you next time. ✨🌊💨⛵️🏝️👙🌞✨
Wow, I'm sure that's a huge relief. Bora Bora, epic! Has there been anywhere in S Pacific you couldn't go with Yoda? I remember his long on board purgatory last year, but curious if there's been other challenges? Our boat arrives in 1 month! :)
How exciting Peter! Cruising the South Pacific with Yoda has been complicated. After French Polynesia the typical route is Cook Islands, Nuie, Tonga, then people either go south to New Zealand from Tonga or go west to Fiji and then to NZ or Australia. Dogs cannot get off the boat in Cooks or Niue. Dogs can be imported to Tonga but there is no vet there that can do the necessary tests and treatments for New Zealand. Those tests and treatments can be done during quarantine in New Zealand but the quarantine is 30 days and I’m not sure of the cost. We opted to sail directly to Fiji from French Polynesia because we could import Yoda to Fiji and they are able to do the tests and treatments for Yoda’s export to New Zealand. However Fiji changed their laws this year in May and it’s no longer possible to import dogs via vessel. They can be imported via Air but the animal must have resided in the export country for 6 months or more. So needless to say, it’s challenging and the laws can change suddenly. I hope that’s helpful.
So when and how are they going to fix your Hatches? Great video 📹 . And I hope all is fixed. Until next time, Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! Aloha and cheers 🍻
It was wonderful seeing so many marine species of fish that are cared for by reef hobbyist in thier own salt-water aquariums. I will shoot from the hip and try to name a few that I saw: Yellow-stiped Maroon Clownfish (6:09), Picasso Triggerfish (5:58), Double-Saddled Butterfly Fish (6:31), Hawaiin Squirrel fish (7:11), Maxima (?) Clam (5:51), Octopus (Not normally kept by hobbyist as they are escape artist and almost impossible to keep inside the tank, and a bubble-tip Anenome (6:45). Great video guys, TY so much....... heart-smiles for sure!
@@deerfootnz What is happening to our coral reefs is beyond sad. Even more worrisome is what the future holds for not only our reefs, but mother nature in general. Kristen / Fabio I have been a long-time viewer of your channel and could not help but becoming a Patreon supporter. You guys take extra care in not only explaining details, producing excellent content and videography, but vividly describing those wonderful images into a feeling allowing the viewer the full experience. Is Wanderlust ready? The reality is no one knows, but I do know the captain and crew have shown with every challenge to perform beyond expectations. I have watched in amazement, how the challenge was handled and ultimately overcome to continue your journey. The two of you show so much respect for each other, quick to jump into action working in concert playing very different notes that blend so perfectly. I believe that respect is the outward action of the love you have for each other. Your reaction to all the issues you have had with the boat is commendable. I lost count of the number of times you replaced the autopilot arm, hand helming day and night for much of your pacific passage, then lost the gudgeon on the ruder. Not to mention the many other issues you have dealt with. Seawind in the end came through with a complete refit of the entire steering system. Your patience through this and the many other issues is paying off. The joy and countenance on your faces in this video says it all. What a wonderful sail and yes just a little change made a 1 knot difference but that was 10%, which is huge. Observing this sail was so heartwarming. You are both are so generous and gracious to take time to include your viewers on this journey. --Carl
