- Step back in time with us as we honor The Clash's historic performance at the Rock Against Racism event in 1978. Sing along to their classic tunes and immerse yourself in the spirit of this iconic gig, recreated in Leigh on 10th February 2024. Part of the Pete Shelley Memorial Campaign's Rock Against Hate event, the event, featuring a Buzzcocks tribute and ska band Skafull was for Hate Crime Awareness month, with the view of recreating the original Rock Against Racism events from 1978. To mark it, Death or Glory played the exact same set that The Clash played at Victoria Park in 1978, followed by a short greatest hits set. Enjoy!

@@user-dn7yy1bg2n I bought The Clash first record out of the bins when it first came out. This is amazing. I think the Mick guitar presence could be dialed back a bit for a live set by about 20% it's a bit too promenant. I enjoyed the whole set.

@@MotttheHoople2010 you may be in luck mate, we emailed venues in Newport, Cardiff and Crumlin just yesterday. Awaiting a response but hopefully we will be booked down there soon. You guys played a great set! I loved that you even used a setlist similar to the real RAR concert. I was curious if you would post the guitar tablature of the Last Gang in Town, it's a fun song to play but I don't know what to play like you guys do.

As a Clash fan from back in the day first of all thank the actual f**k for a relatively young tribute band. Not only are the aesthetics (central to the original group's overall mojo) far more convincing and appealing than the usual greying / balding efforts, but the energy other level.
Beyond that this is musically absolutely brilliant, it completely captures the feel of Strummer and co at their peak. Have not listened to the whole set yet (felt compelled to comment immediately ) but already can say that this version of 'Last Gang in Town' actually betters the one The Clash recorded on Give Em Enough Rope. Absolutely superb, and at a moral level 'Rock Against Hate' indeed...
PS having listened further on 'White Riot' (both the original and this recreation) is a visceral musical rush, but ideologically highly dubious - in reality there is no such thing as 'white' and 'black' and it contradicts the whole anti-hatred and violence vibe. However one miss-step does not negate an overall hugely positive package.
