This was really cool and I liked that it didn’t feel rushed. One addition I really think you should do is put some sort of railing on the outside of the stairs. For a chonky and aging dog, you don’t want her to come rushing out of the top floor and go 5 feet down and break something!
dogs dont walk on stairs, its not good for them specially not a girl that big change it for a ramp if you are doing the work anyway and dogs dont do that angle 🤣 just look at him pushing the dog up the ramp like michael scott pushing the fat guy up on the table in the office 🤣 imagine the dog going down again these breeds do often get hip dysplasia, and this dog is walking a bit stiff allready by the looks of it
Not sure y'all's definition of portable and mine are the same, but that pooch is living nicer than most of the people I saw on trip I went on a few years back. For sure gave me a few ideas for something for the wife's pups. Honestly didn't think she would roll up the stairs but she went right on up.
I thought those were the "Japanese inspired" touch, and I was going to say uhhmmm.... and then he called them a clamp and I had to delete my comment ahahah
Yes it’s a dog house, but never cut corners on anything you do. Once you do it on one project, it becomes easier to do it on the next. You made the correct decision to extend the roof line.
Yeah but the ground floor is level and no step into the house so as soon as it rains that underfloor heating is going to get submerged in water. The roof won’t matter 😂
It's an awesome doghouse, but even with the heated floors and fireplace, she's still going to get cold because it's wide open, and there are no doors for a windbreak. I overbuilt a doghouse for our doggos myself, it had an 18-wheeler mudflap as a door, an entry/exit hallway, an open-concept one-room efficiency with a heat lamp for the winter a window AC unit for the summer (I live in SETX, it gets very hot here), lighted, and a very big fluffy bed of cedar shavings so they could lay on. Thanks for your content.
Dogs are family. They deserve just as much love and consideration as we do. It’s great the way you went the extra mile because she means that much to the whole shop. Fantastic video!
Hey watching you and the guys building stuff is great. Now you have children built them the most epic play house ever I have faith in your abilities to do this.
14:48 had a similar conundrum when building my first gingerbread house. Panic set in as I realized I wouldn’t have enough icing to “caulk” and support the frame… then realized it was a GD gingerbread house and wasn’t meant to be strong/support in anyway lol
I love almost everything about this. A railing on the stairs is a must, so I agree with all the others on that. One other thing, on the bottom floor, plastic flaps over most or all of the opening to cut down on the wind. Great build guys!
You should have put this on a trailer base, and made it a dog tiny home. It would have made it much easier to move around. And i agree with others who've said it needs a railing on the stairs. But apart from that, it's a typical over the top Malecki build. 🤣 Completely mad but always fun to watch and really nicely made. I could see you selling a lot of plans for this as either a dog house, small child play house or super plush chicken coop.
A dog house was my first ever project during Covid. It’s a shed sized doghouse for a Pomeranian lol. Has a porch, had a human door (weather snapped that off) nice tongue in groove flooring and well my dogs love storing toys in there and running in and out of it, so i call it a success
Suggestions... (1) Put the recessed can lights on a programmable timer switch so they will turn off/on at a predetermined time at night and in the morning. (2) Add motion-sensor spotlights to the exterior so that when she's sleeping, nothing can sneak up on her while she's at her most vulnerable. (3) Get an app your brother can control the heated flooring with from his phone. Great video...
growing up with dogs my dad "didn't want," this is the most dad build I've seen on this channel. we still have all the dog houses my dad built, and one he has turned into an outdoor litterbox
As I'm watching you build this, all I can think is how are going to move this? Also, you best put this on a cement slab, or you're not moving it again. Oh, the anticipation!! Way to build the suspense!!
hey little tip when it come to flipping stuff that doesnt have any hooking points if you have some bessy clamps or some strong slide clamps you can clamp a lifting strap to one of the 2x4s on the edge and then strap to either your fork and use another bessy clamp or you can run a hook to your fork lift mast. then you can run a long strap from the bottom 2x4 and have a guy pull the bottom of the frame away from the forklift while the forklift begins to lower and either drive forward or backwards in a attempted to keep the strap on the fork lift at a 90 degree angle. you wanna try to keep it at 90 to keep from having the frame slide forward or backwards. might seem excessive or overkill but i lift and tip huge platforms and tanks that weigh in the region of 15k pounds to 50k pounds the same way. and never have issues
Change the stairs to a ramp it will be easier on her joints vs stairs as she gets older and when arthritis sets in she will still be able to use a ramp when she can't do stairs. Also yes add a rail to the side. I see you tried a ramp, but I'm sure there is a way to make it work. I know my male Rottweiler would need a ramp he's 6 now, but already had arthritis set in his hips and elbows when he was 2. Even if it extended beyond the base and was detachable.
Long time viewer, first time commenter...I think. Love that you guys used hurricane clips... you know, just incase the winds don't take the whole house. Buuuut....put your drip edge under the felt paper along the eaves. Rakes, it goes over the felt paper. Probably not the only comment on that but wasn't going to read 687 comments to check. This turned out awesome though. Love the cedar/black contrast.
I don't have a bunch of clearance, we have discussed making some double layer ramps because we can't obviously make it an extreme angle my own specific French bulldog with back problems really starting to struggle with the bedroom stairs, which are steep and questionable. I'm glad you brought this up because this guy needs help. I'm going to see what we can do for him. Thanks again
Mate, this build is bloody awesome! My dogs would love something similar! The episode/build felt as if it wasn't rushed which made it more enjoyable to watch and also made for a quality end result.
My daughters are 1 and 5 and love singing and dancing. Would you consider making a video on how to build a play stage for them to perform on that would fit in the corner of a standard bedroom? Love your channel! Thanks!
You totally missed the opportunity to make Qui's home a smarthome. Motion sensors for the lights, as well as remote on/off, and a camera or two to keep an eye on her.
Most epic dog house of all time! One note - I think you need to consider balustrading for the stairs. I'd hate to see her get excited going up or down and come off them. OK, two notes - please look up the issue of giving dogs rawhide chews. They have been linked to bacterial contamination (because they're left 'wet' then come back to), and also known to create choking hazards because either pieces get chewed off, then stuck in the throat, or, they get chewed down to quite small and become a choking hazard. Aside from these... This is probably the BEST dog house I've EVER seen. Also the best Anker ad I've seen. :D
Your dog is extremely cute and she looks liks she'll be living like a queen. You should make a video on powercarving testing out bits and just tip and tricks for it. Im looking to get into powercarving and that video would really help. Love your stuff and am looking forward to the next video
How will you prevent snow getting into the inside? Snow melting on the inside of the dog house will cause some issues and accelerate the degrading of it, especially with that metal edge between the vinyl flooring and the turf on the outside. You would have needed to construct the floor with a slope so that the water can run off and out or it will just pool on the inside, creep under the inside panels and into the framing which will have difficulties to dry out. Some of those transparent vinyl strips you have in industrial walk in fridges might work. The stairs would also be a concern since you did construct it with the vertical panels go on the outside of the horizontal ones. You might be using weather protected panels but they are usually not protected on the edges when you cut them off. Even if you paint it small holes in the paint will remain unless you first use some weather sealing mud, epoxy or plastic padding to seal it completley. Also are you using outside rated electrical fixtures? That could end up with some serious issues and shorts.
Hey, it's a dog house, so there definitely are corners you can cut, but some will make a difference like the roof overhang. And you love her, so you want to do it right for her anyway. She's a great girl, and she deserves it. even if it's nicer than any house I've ever lived in lmao.
I hope your brother get that phase in his life going successfully, I'm going through a rough patch right now trying to get thing figured out. The weather jumps up and down in Texas at worse 15 degrees and up to 54 degrees, stay warm and safe out there. (Rough patch reference, death in the family its been coming on 2 years but the scar is still there 😢)
I love this, past week my derp idea has been to make a massively over the top rabbit hutch for my nephews rabbits... so this kinda project is definitely in my lane right now! :)
Standing still is the hardest thing for me. I’m currently avoiding a spinal fusion of s1-l5 and a disc replacement in l4-5. I can bend all day long but ask me to stand still or reach above my head. It will pinch nerves and drop me instantly.
Wrap the cords for the solar panel in schedule 90 PVC pipe. You can use a heat gun and bend it and mold it, so it goes with the structure and it will hide the wire and protect. If you’re leaving the panels up there permanently
Maybe I'm too late to ask, but I have 2 questions :) The first one: why did you skip insulating the bottom part of the house? And the another: If you want to put it outside, why not installed some small "legs"? It would be better to have it away from the ground, and it may not rot as soon as standing on the ground.
The power supply should be kept warm. Lithium cells can't charge in cold weather. In general, they should be kept above about 35-40 degrees. Solar charging can be difficult too, there are a lot of reports that they need to be above 50 degrees.
"For this phase, I'm keeping it super super simple". You built a two story doghouse- there's nothing simple here. What a lucky dog! How are you going to move that thing?

it's not the size of your collins clamp that matters, it's how you use it
@@FreviriousQuigby That's usually what someone with a small Collins clamp says. 🤣
Yes it’s a dog house, but never cut corners on anything you do. Once you do it on one project, it becomes easier to do it on the next. You made the correct decision to extend the roof line.

Super massive tree house, I say! :D

I can't even imagine moving from California to PA during this weather 🥶
Plenty parts of California have cold winters.
