Best fall ever. Saved every single thing. Definitely deserves a raise
Thats what I'm saying lol
Off topic but you might want to consider hanging the curtains higher and wider. Higher so they don't pool on the floor and wider so that when you open the curtains they are covering the wall instead of the window. Everything looks great though! I love how the fireplace turned out. Such an improvement over what it was.
Great idea! we didnt get the new ones in yet
Love that opening gambit John! I saw the original video and people went crazy about the blurring. 🤣🤣 So funny but great to have you doing your best kind of content! Renovations and trying things out for our benefit. Love it.
That was quality.
Ever thought of teaming up with a lens maker for a prescription option of shop shades?
that's the main reason i didn't get them
I've had prescription safety lenses made by my eye doctor or wherever he sends them. I just dropped off my frames and picked them up a few days later.
Honestly, I’ve held out because I can’t get them in +2.0. I just use cheap magnifiers, but can’t find safety glasses.
@@mjc8248 yeah my eye Dr finally told me last summer about that. I saw some frames that would look great as sunglasses, and he said we'll put shaded lenses in them then. My mind did a hard restart, how did I not know?
That will be so cool
2:40 I've had success using a filler knife on the plaster to stop the back of the prybar from damaging things.
Spread the force out over a larger area. Great idea!
I think it turned out great. the only thing I would change would be the back color. The black accents the cracks alot, whiteish would of make them disappear more so
Yep, that’s the one thing that’s bothering me, the gaps between the stones. good shout with the white paint behind
Came here to say the same thing
I just dropped my cup of coffee... Primo 2 48 starts at almost $10,000... Looks like I'm staying with a space heater :)
This may be random but I really appreciate hearing the knowledge from the guys from the fireplace company. Them explaining why something may not work for your space and being able to guide you accordingly.
Scary fall, but NICE save!!
Also, it seems like you could have made that mantle a recessed drawer if, instead of having the drawer go all the way across, have a drawer on each end, leaving space in the middle for the ducts. The mantle could still be one piece, but it would pull out both drawers at once. Am I describing it the way the picture looks in my head? I hope so.
Anyway, very cool build!
Great idea! Kind of like how drawers in bathroom vanities have the middle cut out for plumbing.
I was thinking of the exact same thing!
I love this and great tip on that fake stone I am gonna use that next time. But the stone should have gone all the full expanse of the wall not just 2/3. Otherwise it’s beautiful
I love the idea! And it depends what you like, but those stones would drive me crazy. Not a fan of the look, but the project and idea as a whole is great
15:06 that’s why you face a ladder. 😂 Also, you’re supposed to place the corners first for any kind of masonry because it’s easier to cut and fit the straight pieces. It still looks good, it just makes it easier on you.
Jack black pointing and laughing at your crocs was a nice touch lol. I hated on crocs forever and my kids got me a pair and now I never take em off lol
THAT FALL DESERVES A PAY RISE ! .... click like if you agree get the kid a pay rise !!
No stupidness does not deserve any extra money 😂
unilnize!
I actually like the white wash pallet wood look 😂 I just made my entire home look like a cabin
I think what went in looks almost identical to what came out
Agreed I would much rather have the wood look!!!
@@JonathanDuddy-oq6nv yep, same. Really similar colour, just more texture and less cohesiveness to the pattern
Very classy; I love the look of the corner of the room with the fireplace framing it.
The only thing I would of did differently would of been not painting the background black. You can see the black in the gaps like crazy. If it was a color that matches the stone then it would of been seamless
Agreed the black only emphasis the gap between the stones. Why black anyway?
Great video. Perfect project. Now I think I know what to do in our bedroom. Thanks
Looks great John
Amazing, John! It really turned out beautiful! 😃
Well done!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
"The Scope of the Gas".... I loved that movie!
Another awesome project and I ordered my Shop Shades today and am extremely excited to get them on my face
Looks amazing! Love the Evolve Stone! The shelves look great! I am just wondering though, if you left a way to access the back so you can get to the gas and electrical for the fireplace in case anything happens. An access way like a hidden built in door or a pop off section of the wall in case you needed to do work back there. But always love the content and I love how the room ties together!
Your newest vids are always the first thing I watch when I get home from work every Sunday morning
Beautiful work my friend!!
Very well executed!
Great build! I'm in love with the inside stone work
The king👑 is back and is the king👑 of youtube
i really wanted to use evovle for my fireplace but the color wasnt right. we ended up going with genstone, pretty solid product too. comes in 1x4 foot sections and its tongue and groove. gives a good look. this looks solid though john good stuff
Looks great
That was an A+ fall, athletic as fuck.
Great job John, myself the mantle shelf would be the bit wide from the stone.
Love the editing and new camera angles!
Lol... I love the fact that you did a cut back from the remodel of your bedroom I'm very new to your channel I believe I watched mostly all of your videos so far I'm still working on it to finish all of your videos... 😂 I just found it very amusing a flashback.... I cannot wait to watch that video. I love your content keep up the great work!!!!
The Jason Bourne clip is the funniest damn insert I've seen in a long time!
Love your videos hope you Family loves the new room
Amaze-balls 🎉❤ love it… great choice of stone colors and that fireplace man!
The project was great love the look
There's a trim prybar it's super wide at a 90 and with a bent flange that does most of the pulling for you.
Looks so good! ❤
Very cool that turned out amazing. Great job and awesome save Sam with the Beam
Nice looking project! Glad no one was hurt with that fall. As someone who fell last year and shattered my ankle I can tell you the rehab isn't something you want to deal with. I will say too that with the amount of adhesive used around that fireplace bottom god speed to anyone who has to replace or service it in the future ;) Beyond that though that really came out well!
Looks great John
Looks great! When I redo my living room, I may go this stone route for the fireplace.
As a post masonry semi expert, the stone work is phenomenal!! Love the build!
That looks awesome!! I benn wanting to make a faux fireplace in the living room.
The fireplace build came out pretty nice.
Would love to see you compare the 10-in-1 type tools with the single use type tools and see if they are really worth it.
Looks amazing!!
Love this project. Beautiful!
You look a lot thinner in this video. Looking good.
Did you just call John Malecki fat? 😂
Beautiful work
Great content thanks for sharing
Well done yet again!
Your employees and beams are always entertaining to watch. Cue sam smacking that support in place in the old shop.
Great video 😁 keep up the good work
This comes at the PERFECT time as our new fireplace gets installed Thursday!
Awesome as always!!! Love Watching your video's. Only problem is we need more of them😂
Well done!!!!!
Looks great !!!Love the channel.
This project was amazing to watch. I wish I had some workers like ya'll to come help fix my house that was damaged by a tornado. I had a contractor steal over 9k from me. I wish he was like you and your crew, John
Looks incredible 🎉
Brick tiles need to be painted grey to match the other side of the room it’ll also help to focus attention to the fireplace with warm flames flickering against the darker grey background
that turned out BEAUTIFUL!!!! GREAT WORK GUYS!!!
Beautiful job
You should go back over that faux rock with a drybrush and bring out some variation in coloration. Looks good though!
Everyone in the comments seems to love the evolve stuff, but as a tile guy, I'm not really a fan. Having said that, great video! lol and I still love the headboard on the bed!
You could also make a transition to the left and to the right painted walls using an uneven number of bricks in each row (say from one to three), it would look better than a straight line
That turned out great. Nice work John.
Love it 👍
Good job John and crew! I want to nit pick but it looks great in the end so who really cares haha keep up the good and fun content
Looks great but my only concern would be servicing. I personally like to make some concealed access panel just in case 😂
That Jason Born Moment killed me 😂
looks great!
That turned out so great!
Great job John can you how you fitted the shelves with the hardware thanks
That looks awesome.
So cool man. Really looks great!
Looks fantastic, keep crushing it. Congrats to reaching 1 million subscribers.
That came out really nice!
Very nice improvement, great job
The stone is pretty slick. And the beams! 💪
I have to say it made me smile to see you using trash cans as sawhorses. :)
Hi John. I have one offtopic question, if its not a problem, what camera do you use for yout videos? Is that Hobie on trailer outside? I have 2018. Hobie Outback and no time to use it!
What is the device above the light switches in the room? In the time lapse, looked to be changing images, so is that a decorative screen saver, or going through your home security cameras?
dame it turned out awesome
he falls/jumps off the ladder "thats jason borne" and then the clip pops up. come on! predicable Sir! Keep up the awesome content!
The only thing I hate is the mount for the tv. I kid you not I prefer the ones on the swing arms. This allows you to adjust the angle of the tv for the room. My living room down stairs has one and because where the tv is compared to where the sitting area is, being able to pull it out and adjust the angle helps better viewing.
In my upstairs living room and office I have 2 tvs up there and they are also on those swing outs arms as well. This allows my tvs to be pulled out further and allows for the desk under them.
I also have light bars on the tvs both upstairs and down stairs. While I could install those RBG lights the light bars work quite well. We have them all set up for our smart home and it works nice to be able to turn them on yet still keeping the room dark. Set them to alarms and to generally see under the tv for the desk while not interrupting the viewing pleasure.
Great Video Dude ✌🏻
Shoulda used Sheppard brackets on the shelves. Invisible mounts, not the "hope you don't see these because they are flush" brackets. Would have been a good project in the shop.
Fantastic job, Everything you build always ends up being outstanding keep up the fantastic work
Its a cool look if you fire it up with the torch and stain it . Looks damn good.
I Love Your Videos John 💓💖
just a small but important tip for anyone doing this: its best to attach a straight board one row from the bottom for all of the weight to sit on as you stack out the walls. helps to keep stuff from shifting as you work. then you come in later when everything is dry and remove that board and fill the bottom row out.
ahh, didnt know you could nail this material. what i said is more important for actual stone or tile.
John!!!! I know it isn't easy, but you should have taken the time to travel, just a little bit, for the eclipse!
john my boy i have the bottom electric simplifire thing it works wonders 4:24
As someone who grew up with tiled stoves in every room as the mean heating souce (and a coal powered bath boiler), I was firing up an oven since I was six or seven years old. This means that I would not be interested in anything fireplace-like where you can't put a log of wood in, light it and watch it turn to ashes. But that's just me.
What I really missed from this video is John telling us how he sleeps and what mattress he uses.
Love all your videos always waiting on the next video much love from Australia!!
Hello fellow kangaroo rider
Noway. Hahah 🎉🎉
@@ToxicMrSmith g'day mate
Love the Evolve stone, saw it on the Perkins Builder Brothers a while ago, they've used it in many of their builds. Don't care much for the tiny sliver of stone above the fireplace, that seems a bit off, but the overall look is awesome, especially the faux beams!
I like the Stone Work. That Works like Wood?
13:13 John was so concerned with the faux beams getting wet he forgot to zip his fly! 😏
I have priorities....
Appreciate the reply! Im a amateur/hobby woodworker and I really enjoy your content. It always makes me want to get in the shop, keep it up!
