      Let's not forget what he went on to say in his Resident Evil 2 Remake video:
      (he was speaking about a 1st Person mod)
      "Being in 1st person is the definitive way to play the game. The perspective allows much more immersion, & is much, much scarier. I can definitively say that THIS is the best way to experience Survival Horror. So if you're playing the PC version & have access to mods, do yourself a favor & get this 1st Person mod IMMEDIATELY." - Jared "Jaded Hypocrite" Avalanche

    I've seen like 3 machines of this in the wild and every single one had insane amounts of screen burn because no one played it. That should tell you how good an idea making this game was.

    • @AvalancheReviews
      @AvalancheReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      That makes a lot of sense. It used a DLP display, from what I've been able to tell. Those DLP's were mega prone to image burn-in. They were also hard to get bright pictures out of, which explains the curtain around the cabinet.

    The whole story aside, the fact that the plot revolves around Little Baroness is a nice touch. It's one of the lesser known mysteries which was mentioned in the series exactly once in one single memo in SH2, IIRC, which provided both creative freedom and sence of belonging to series proper without messing with the canon.

    First, I want to say, I absolute love your channel. Great content to binge or even rewatch.
    That said, “if you’re playing an arcade game to get a specific ending, you may have missed the point of an arcade game” is a pretty bad cop out. Obviously the main point of an arcade game is fun, but a huge part of that is replay factor, something you could’ve taken advantage of to get the “good” ending.
    That said, I probably wouldn’t have replayed it, either, considering it was on that tiny window.

    • @AvalancheReviews
      @AvalancheReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I remember playing at one of the arcades in used to go to. Trafford Centre, Manchester, UK. I remember dumping in 10 pounds and got to use both guns, which was so cool. Because, if you pick shotgun for one person, both players got it. So, I drained the shotty with player 2, who then switched back to handgun. Boss battle comes up and my player 1 still had the shotty which made the battle itself a bit easy.
    I remember having a blast playing it. A real shame they took it out pretty quick. I always wondered why they'd do it but looking at your video now, I kind of understand why they took it out in such a hurry! Awesome video btw!

    Your self sacrifice and time spent getting this footage looking so crisp definitely paid off. I also like the look of the game and can respect it as a fun spin-off. Not like how BoM was a spin-off in name only and attempted to make every game somehow work with the damn book.

My PC is old junk (I love it because I do every non-game thing on it, but it really is) so there is absolutely zero chance I'm gonna be able to get this running, not gonna try. I am lucky enough that the mall literally 15mins away from my house that has this and 1 out of the 3 arcade cabinets located in Eurasia. I used to play this almost every time I go there. Also, been dual wielding the hand gun for the hell of it. I never finished it though. I would still play it today but the guns are worst for wear.

      My only gripe about the actual arcade cabinet is that the guns doesn't have any recoil function. Other than that , it's a pretty solid arcade shooter with an SH theme.
      It's not everyday that you can blast SH monsters with unlimited ammo xD

    It's worth pointing out that this game IS part of the main Silent Hill continuity. Prior to its release, back in Silent Hill 2, James Sunderland finds a memo in the prison that describes the events of this game, specifically, the mysterious disappearance of the Little Baroness in Toluca Lake.

    • @AvalancheReviews
      @AvalancheReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I try not to harp on too much about that though. Just about every game since 4, has been mentioned in a memo from one of the original games in one way or another (except Book of Memories).

    • @dr.pepperphd
      @dr.pepperphd 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AvalancheReviews I guess it's kinda cool that when Konami decided to make this sub-par game, at least they went back through the old games and found some random memo to use as a solid story connection when making this game. Kinda like how SH4's story relied heavily on a few newspaper articles, also from SH2.

    To be honest, I didn't know this existed. That being said, the story sounds like your standard American horror movie. You know Teenagers exploring a haunted town, they fight or run from monsters in an attempt to end the haunting and survive. Pretty standard and the original SH games are meant to be representative of Adult horror movies like Jacob's Ladder. This arcade game sounds like a take on the teen horror genre of the 80s and 90s. Which for an on-rails shooter makes sense.
