Disney CEO Bob Iger got Nuked by Elon Musk at the Dealbook interview earlier, but Bob Iger's interview itself was very interesting. While giving lip service to caring about less sequels, quality not quantity and entertainment over messaging, did he mean it? Or worse, is he even capable of understanding the size of the problem he's facing? Because SOME people do like the Disney movies, but for entirely different reasons to what the audience means when they ask for "good stories". They like the people in the movie, not the acts that the people do. In fact the acts of the people are motivated by the identity of the person. This is entirely backwards to how stories used to be told, how values and morals used to be passed down through history. But as Doctor Who tells people to relinquish power, is that the right way? Or is it a moral duty to push for the change you want to see? As if one point of view doesn't, the other one will. But what do you think? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)
Great video, my only question is does everyone have to use the term "nukes" in the video titles? I'm guessing it's because of the whole clickbait algorithm system but I'd hardly call what he said nuking. He wants to say they're holding him hostage which is such a victimhood exaggeration. I hate Disney as much as the next person but not giving someone money because you don't like what they say is not holding them hostage that's just capitalism.
I COMPLETELY disagree with you that "morals" are what make a good story. Morals don't even exist in reality so they have no meaning regardless. Now personal values do influence how a particular story can be received by someone and as most people share basic similar values like wanting to survive for instance or protecting family, seeing a character fight to live or protect their family will connect with these people. Such things though do NOT make a good story. If that were the case, most horror movies would be despised solely because the monsters in them wipe out the people and then the movie ends. There are many ways to captivate an audience, aligning with their personal views on life is an easy way, but NOT the only way. The real problem going on nowadays is just sh*tty plot and forced values. This is where these companies really screw up because a good story doesn't need to ram a lesson it wants to teach you down your throat, yet media these days want to give you a random lesson they believe in, ram in down your gullet by bringing it up constantly and not even necessarily having said lesson even agree with their own show. Like in Robyn Hood, if your idea is to show people trying to get justice, it is a very bad idea to seemingly give the very characters you are writing almost no reason to get it. A guy legally bought their property and was going to develop a crime ridden neighborhood and to fight back, they did crime whilst trying to portray the guy as the one with the problem. This is poor storytelling because it makes no logical sense. A story like this can easily be told like from a perspective of Breaking Bad, you can even make your "villainous" characters win and have the audience love them, you just have to write them properly.
black panther was not diverse, black panther was almost completely monochromatic and they killed everyone who was different, except one but they called him names and made fun of him
I really like Black Panther comics, the movie was pretty good... The sequel was a pandering shield for people without any idea on their own. Shame on them!
Everything you needed to know about the ideology of diversity was the scene of a powerful black leader barking mockingly at a man because he was white and wasn't allowed to speak.
Nono... That is exactly what Hollywood's definition of diverse is. No one who is different from the established and approved. So in that sense BP was diverse... Just not dictionary definition diverse, or normal persons definition of diverse. UK's BBC is now considered diverse and the idiginous British person is a minority in its halls. Historical figures like Anne Bolin and Isaac Newton are race swapped and are now 'diverse'. When the term diverse is used, don't think of what the term means. Look at how the person is using it. Enough time has passed to see what Hollywood's intent is when making places diverse which is not defined by who comes in... It's defined as who they are getting rid of.

Black Panther is one of the least diverse films made recently. Like there are only 2 non black characters, one of whom gets killed, and the other gets called 'coloniser' the whole time, but it's set in Africa, so it makes sense that everyone is black. But if you did the same to, say, ancient Britain, were everyone was white, they'd have problems with that. The double standard drives me crazy.

I think you hit the nail on the head - it is clearly a difference of morals and values between the audience and the content creators. I keep wondering when Hollywood will realize that the consumers of their content are what funds it.
In their eyes, you’re the problem and you need to be “loved in the right direction” by petulant children like zigla. Even if they “change” all they will be doing is putting the mask back on, they won’t change their society destroying ideology. They believe in it. They have been fully indoctrinated.
They never will because those specific people don't seem to care about money, they care about "spreading the message" and, since they're so vocal, Hollywood listens since they're scared of the cancel culture mob.
There are far too many people in Hollywoke (and elsewhere) that believe that being a part of a certain group automatically makes them special. Those clips from the recent Dr. Who episode are a perfect example. The grandmother points out that they (she and her daughter) never encouraged the son/grandson when he was their son/grandson... but they constantly do it now that he/she is their "daughter/granddaughter". The son changes identity to a girl, and instantly becomes "wonderful".
The consumers are not the target audience. The target is hyper rich ideologues who know better than us filthy peasants(while not believing in the crap they spout publicly).
Those leaders fell into their swords because they feared massive repercussions if they didn't do it. Like Varus, who lost most of his three legions to the Cheruscans in 9 A.D. when he did that. He knew that if he returned to Rome he'd answer to his Emperor why he'd lost that many soldiers to a bunch of unorganized barbaric people led by the deserter Arminius. And he also knew that he'd face torture and a very slow death for that. So this is actually a really cowardice solution. In opposite to a japanese Samurai who could no deliver his Tenno a banana split. Seppuku is the only way to restore his honor.
@@DbonnRPMusk's advertisers, such as Disney, need money to pay for advertising on Twitter, isn't that correct? Look who is, as you say, screwing themselves. 😅😅😅
Bob saying entertainment is more important then messages is absolutely hilarious. Most of their creatives are mentally incapable of understanding the difference between heavy handed political propaganda and entertainment.
Bob is Lying again! He already admitted that he cares more about PUSHING The MESSAGE, than making money! You can not trust a word that comes out of his mouth!
The "irony" is that Bob also said that the message is more important than the entertainment, because sometimes they have to support... The Message. Frankly, I'm not sure that he said anything in that interview that he didn't also contradict, in the same interview.
Michael Eisner was probably the best CEO that Disney's ever had. Was he perfect? No. Did he make entertainment a top priority? Without question. Also, if Walt were there, and saw what his company had become, he'd be raising all _types_ of hell.
Michael Eisner was also the guy who made Disney a lot more guy friendly. Bob iger has literally made Disney very anti-male. Michael Eisner gets a lot of unfair criticism for allowing Disney studios to make so many direct to videos sequels and other movies like that. I would much rather have a million more direct to video sequels, then all the unnecessary remakes Bob iger is allowed to make. At least those films tried to show some creativity and continued their stories, rather than just retelling them again for no reason other than just to make them better for the woke crowd that never pays money for them anyway.
@@theunknowncommenter725 Plus they did learn from mistakes in the direct to video sequels. Aladdin 2 had Homer's voice actor as the Genie and was generally not that well received. Well, it's the Marxist goal... Which is both appropriate and interesting because corporations are just government sanctioned unions focused on business, rather than a trade.
@DeadlyPlatypus exactly, they are trying change the morality at least for the Western World, I don't think Asia or Africa are becoming diverse. They thought 95% of the population would give up 2000 years of history. That's not happening
1000% agree. It's a even better description than the one I normally used of individuals vs collectives. I'm totally stealing this the next time I try and explain why I can hate a black, trans, disabled character, without actually hating every black, trans, or disabled person in the universe.
@@harbingerofchaos6720 I don't know why TH-cam didn't inform me of your comment, but I'll answer it now. I dislike clichés and I hate forced inclusion. But the answer to your question is neither. I can hate a character without any connection to their group identify. I can like or dislike a character if they are black, white, or even a member of my own race. And what I feel about one character of race X will in no way effect how I feel about another character of race X. In my head a persons races is of no more important than their shoe size.
"A male presenting time lord would never understand" has to be right up there in the worst lines ever recorded on film along with classics such as "Somehow Palpatine returned".
So, quick thought… does this mean actual women who “transitioned” to “male presenting” are now as stupid/etc as actual men, due to “presenting” as one??!? Is it “presenting” as a male that makes you a useless violent idiot, or is it a genetic thing?

Oddly enough when I just parroted their logic back at them they shut the hell up because you don't get a free pass on sexism when the target of your disdain can transition / has transitioned, if anything it makes it worse.

Lol. Identity based judgments are one of the core tenants of Marxism, something a LARGE portion of the globe (and Hollywood) thinks is still viable...even after hundreds of millions of deaths caused by it.
It genuinely saddens me to realise that when people say they need to see someone like them to connect to movies, they mean it literally. Like until someones steps on screen and exclaims theyre gay, or has the right skin color they relate to, they cant appreciate that movie. And thats gotta be a genuinely awful way to enjoy stories and media. Ive been watching movies with black people, gay people, women as leads my whole life, i never really spent time thinking about "oh this is a women, i view women this way now" because thats an insane way of thinking unless you literally see everyone in that category as being identical, as opposed to individuals with a ton of factors that affect how they became who they are
@@HiroKompleXwell yea since they say they want only gay actors to play gay people etc, I guess why not just take it to the extreme, you can't play a lawyer/doctor/fireman in a movie unless you are one. Goodbye almost every actor who has no skill outside of pretending
Yeah, people these days are so narcissistic that can only enjoy entertainment if the lead character looks exactly like them. Used to be, people related to characters with similar issues, values, dilemmas, morals that they had. Now they can only relate to a character if they have the exact skin pigmentation as them.
It's a trait of a very shallow personality as well. If your only individual worth is telling me about how much melanin is in your skin, what you do with your dangly bits in the privacy of your own home, or similar superficial traits it tells me nothing. Are you equally at ease with highbrow culture as you are with going to the pub to be with friends? What's your fave season of the year? Do you prefer the city or the countryside? Do you get on easily with most of the people you interact with or are you a bit of a shy introvert? It's those sort of nuances that give character to people and it's what should also flesh out characters in fiction and film. Identity politics has largely destroyed those interesting characters that once populated the entertainment industry.

Including the punctuation, spaces between the words, and grammar. “I think I’m good, therefore what I’m doing is automatically good” is a special kind of delusion.
The story tellers as Bob calls them care far more about the (message) than they do about good story telling and profit. Hence is the reason why their characters don't struggle through the heroes journey. They're perfect the way they are.
Whenever Bob Iger speaks, with one of his elaborate excuses, somehow, some way, I always recall Barack Obama saying, "You can keep your own doctor". Enough said.
You've perfectly illustrated here just how insane these people are. RTD has a very disturbing view of the world and morality if he thinks everyone else sees an evil person who is disabled and thinks all disabled people are evil. That's lunacy.
Disney will reap what the sew. Having many friends who won't let their children watch Disney movies is a testament to how badly they are doing. It's just disgusting !
The worst part about Bob's interview for me is that he proves that they know exactly what the problems are, he laid it all out and said that he tried to fix that. They aren't incompetent, they are evil. They are doing it all on purpose and giving a middle finger to their audience while gaslighting them and telling them that they're the problem, that they actually *are* making good movies. Your version sounds more plausible but also more optimistic. It implies that they could still be taught that identity isn't the same as morality and that'll fix everything, instead of the core problem being their alternate goals and their morality itself. I do hope you're right. Side note: Jack Harkness. What an awesome character that EVERYONE liked. I don't remember anyone complaining that he was bi-sexual (but mostly gay), it wasn't who he was just an interesting part of his character. I actually can't even think of a single non-straight character other than him that's both a good character and whose entire identity isn't based on their alternate sexuality. Just Jack. I can think of plenty of gay celebrities or other noteworthy people in reality who are great for something other than being gay, but no other gay fictional character.
I was complaining about the past few years of Dr. Who recently, and I brought up Jack Harness to emphasize that point. He never saved the day BECAUSE he was bisexual. His bisexuality was never the salvation of the episode. He did something cool himself. He made a sacrifice. He was inspiring because of who he was as a person. He also just so happened to like dick at the same time.

The underlying message of Secret Invasion was that when you open your world (countries, specifically in the West) you must promise the migrants (invaders masquerading as good people) that their lives will be completely provided for and they must have free reign to live how they wish regardless of societal standards and laws that have existed in the world (countries, specifically in the West) and that if anyone that is native to the world (countries, specifically in the West) questions the migration (invasion) those natives will be demonized and when possible jailed to send a message that the desire to protect your world (countries, especially in the West) will not be tolerated.
I suspect you're right that that was the intended message. That's not what I drew from it, which is something closer to "Don't accept refugees; they'll inevitably decide that their interests are more important than your shared interests, and think themselves righteous in evicting you from the land you offered to share with them."
After years of thought, this video hits the nail on the head of what my brain was trying to articulate! Absolutely bang on! Identity of character replaces hero's journey! 😅

Well, Bob's narrative is that Disney's problems are Other Bob's fault, never you mind that all of Other Bob's problems were Bob's problems coming home to roost.
What would Walt think now? He’d be rolling in his grave at how far his company has fallen, how it’s lost its way. Yes, Disney today is more corporate, and while Walt was a bit of a shrewd businessman behind the scenes, he still had values of quality, integrity, and appealing to the target audience that made up most of their success: families, and fans that’d stuck with them and watched their films. He’d keel over a second time if he’d seen how much Disney has lost its way. Which is why some fans have abandoned it.
The wife just saw a meme for RPGs which suggested that the DM have the players go through the campaign killing what they thought were villains, only to discover at the end that they were killing heroes and that they, the players, were actually the villains - clearly this was a commentary on Hollywood.
Pretty much shows why their “newer” films and shows don’t have realistic struggles. Cuz their “heroes” get every convenience possible for positivity rather than working towards the character arc that creates the payoff of the story. It becomes a game where the scores are never kept and nothing happens. But those that did nothing, still win. -_-
I respect people who sticks to their guns. If Iger and Disney wants to stay on this route, let'em. Just show them (like we are) who's really in charge. I'm not rocking with any Disney products until it's in the hands of competent personnel. I like this because it gives TH-cam creators more space to make a way for them, and it's way more entertaining for me. 💯

Iger brought woke politics into Disney. Thats just a fact. Hes had (and likely still has) aspirations to run for President as well as mayor. He was donating to BOTH political parties until he ultimately decided to go full democrat and wanted to use his handling of Disney as a boon to his campaign. Once he went full Democrat he opened the doors and encouraged the woke infestation because he thought it would help him...fast forward to today and hes trying to blame everyone else for what HE caused. Chapek was meant to be a fall guy, until Iger thought he could "save the company" and come out looking like a hero, but instead wound up getting bit by the consequences of his own actions. Esiner wasn't the best, but Disney was still doing well until Iger took over in 2005..then, the Obama Era came, between 2008-2016 is when the collpase of everything began. "Gamer gate", Ghost busters, the death of comedy, the introduction of DEI etc...ALL blew up in those years....as well as the beginings of Disney's fall.

I have lived in this world for over 30 years, in Poland, and I am sure of one thing when it comes to people: what matters is their character, what kind of person they are, not what social/ethnic group they belong to. There are people everywhere who commit bad acts, in every group, looking at one and saying that they are "clean as a whistle" we fall into a very dangerous trap. No one is a saint, no matter how many limbs they have or what skin color. What matters is whether they choose to be good people. That's what humanity is all about. I don't wonder why Hollywood doesn't understand it. I doubt there are people who still have souls... After all, they sold them for fame and fortune and they don't hide it.

@@xipheonjThat's the narcissistic fantasy of the perpetual victim.

Even if they realized it right now, it's already too late
It's not a good look when you're the boss and blame everyone else! A good leader would fall on his sword!
Also, did you notice? He took full credit when he spoke about the stuff that was good. Then said it was everyone else's fault for the failed stuff.

Their use of "representation" in place of individuals is the VERY DEFINITION OF PREJUDICE.

Do you get on easily with most of the people you interact with or are you a bit of a shy introvert?
I'll just point out that this is not a new story, even if it lands differently today.
The idea that someone who is disabled in some way is incapable of evil is scary as fuck. Because everyone seems to be disabled now.

"Gamer gate", Ghost busters, the death of comedy, the introduction of DEI etc...ALL blew up in those years....as well as the beginings of Disney's fall.
Damn! This was a really good explanation of the morals I’ve been seeing come out of Hollywood. Honestly I’ve been unsure how to articulate it because it was just such foreign reasoning. I kinda felt like well, maybe somebody lost a bet and it just spiraled out of control. More unpleasant is the correlation one can draw with any forced relocation in history. Well done, Disparu. This video was food for thought.
"For all these years, I can finally be me..." No Jason, you have a few more years to go. Good luck, DUDE.
GOD, that Bat Woman scene annoys me! "I'm not about to let a man take credit for a woman's work" she says that as she TAKES THE NAME, IMAGE, AND TOOLS CREATED BY BRUCE WAYNE!!!
This is your best video. You’re literally shifting the paradigm here!
Excellent analysis Disparu!
Disparu has been very good for a long time so it is impressive that he manages to get even better the last weeks.
This is scary watching this video.. you can't push you politics in movies. It is divisive and will always give you about half the profits.
Iger must have gone to the Justin Trudeau School of throwing others under the bus.
I cannot wait to hear him try to blame C-19 for what was going on in Reedy Creek under his watch. He cannot blame Chapek since he is responsible for exposing Iger's crimes.
Fitting, as they're both wannabe dictators.
I dont think anything else describes Hollywood better than "They try to look good while doing evil"
If you're wondering how Disney can push ahead with doomed projects, while burning money..... remember that Germany made two fatal mistakes in 1941, but they played out the war for 4 more years when everyone could see it was lost.
It is more entertaining to watch Disney fail then it is to get groomed by a Disney movie!
And to celebrate Disney's centenary year, we have the damning audit of the old Reedy Creek.😂
This is easily the 2nd most well stated evaluation of the problems with the current entertainment culture
Elon Musk is a goddamn hero.
elon musk is a dangerous man, money does not equal intelligence
nobody is as unafraid to call out the crap as he is. we need more elon musks.
No, he isn’t, what the fuck has he done that’s heroic?
@@drownzi We don’t. If he’s that brilliant, why don’t you buy a Cyber Truck?
Elon Musk has the temperament of a narcissistic child. Just because he got one thing right, that won’t change who he is.
Face of David Tennant while being lectured by some old lady and her freak son is priceless 😂😂
Musk is a National Treasure
Well said! Thank you for this video.
Davros is not disabled and a wheelchair user! He is a cyborg!
*Standing Ovation* Brilliant man, absolutely Brilliant! one of your best videos!
The comic shop guy is my new hero. I hope the FNT crew start using that clip a lot more. He speaks for real comic lovers everywhere.
Iger's speech and answers clearly show that nothing will change until he is CEO of Disney. He still doesn't get it.
I found this the most succinct, and illuminating description of the current identity politics morality, and why they seem unable to understand the criticism of their POV. Genuinely brilliant.
This Video is so well done. the ideas and reasoning presented reflect exactly whats going on in hollywood, and in the world in a larger picture.
As a wheelchair user, I never realized that my disability is equated with evil. How charitable of RTD to clear that up for me. Now, where do I sign up for my James Bondian, high-tech villain equipped wheelchair? Gotta have that to protect myself against all you able-bodied do- gooders that want to put me out of business.
You didn’t get the memo that when you’re sitting in the wheelchair you’re supposed to be plotting world domination?
Op is clearly evil I can tell because he said he uses a wheel chair. We'll stop your evil schemes yet faithcastillo!
/begins destroying wheelchair access paths
“Ok, so I can’t even be evil now??!?”
Just another asshole telling you something you can’t do.
I'm colorblind. I've already submitted my request for Lazer Glasses to the Avengers and Justice League, since I'm now confirmed "pure good" by RTD.
I look forward to seeing you out there, partner!
Ahaha I love you 😂
Don't give any Disney property money. Period.
bob iger acts like a sneaky lying politician while elon musk acts like himself and says what he actually thinks.
@@balletshoesHis literal autism is what gives him the bravery...
His money just means he can perform a hostile takover of their favorite social media platform and tell them "go f*ck yourself" when they try to silence him for pointing out that their emperor has no clothes.
I guess Mason Verger from the Hannibal Lecter-verse must really be a good guy because he uses a wheel chair.
well said. the film industry is using identities rather than individual actions as the measurement of morality, because as token characters aimed to represent a specific minority demographic, it has become taboo to showcase them as committing acts of evil, because it would be perceived to reflect badly upon the entire demographic they were supposed to represent.
Well thought incredibly insightful logic…nicely done!
I wish studios would just be honest and put a “woke rating” on a tv show, game or movie to inform the audience. Kinda like a warning. Like Snow White is an 8/10 on the woke scale. Buyer beware.
They’d have to label it as a “Choking Hazard” due to having THE MESSAGE rammed down your throat.
It would need to decay, because they keep going further. Last year's 10/10 is only an eight or nine today.
Let's not forget what the "amazing people" at Disney have done to Doctor Who. That's gone into the crapper as well.
Elon Musk is to media, what Donald Trump is to politics. way to go Elon, don't let the bastards grind you down!!!
You mean he looks good because opposition is extremely crappy?
Yep, out of their depth.
Elon looks good?? Since twitter/ X he is clearly the definition of stupid rich guy without talent
Brilliant take on morality and values. Absolutely fucking brilliant. I gotta say, my dude, you've been really nailing it lately and it's good to see the youngsters getting it right. Well done.
Villains who twirl their moustaches are easy to spot. Those who clothe themselves in good deeds are well camouflaged. But he, or someone like him, will always be with us, waiting for the right climate in which to flourish, spreading fear in the name of righteousness. Vigilance - that is the price we have to continually pay.
this is a fabulous video. It explains it all PERFECTLY
If Bob had distanced himself further away from Disney then the office shower, Disney could be saved.
