Fun fact! Doctors use something called shorthand to make writing multiple perscriptions and receipts more efficiently, nurses and pharmacists are trained to read it
Penmanship has less to do with laziness or competence and more to do with time pressure. I’m a doctor, would you rather me spend time perfecting my handwriting (which is actually neat) or look after my patients?
@Evelyn Rivera Garcia Definitely! For example ‘SH2 # P1 L) LF’ means ‘Salter Harris 2 fracture of the proximal phalanx of the left little finger’. So much more efficient! Makes sense to our hand therapists but complete gobbledygook to anyone else!
omg I rest my pen on my ring finger too D: A lot of people say my handwriting is neat, but the truth is that I adjust my handwriting based on the speed I need to be writing and it gets worse when I have to write very fast LOL My journal looks neat only because I make it neat haha

Carmen You can. There are dozens of people copying certain fonts or handwritings and after a while they write exactly like that because they trained themselves to.
It’s certainly not impossible, especially if you are trained from an early age to write a specific kind of handwriting, but for a lot of us, especially of we just take our own handwriting and improve it with age (my case), the ‘design’ of letters we use changes with words or with our mood.
I tried this during quaranteen, I chose a font that was similar to my og handwiting. I actually improved a little, changing the look of some of my letters and am overall happy with the result. Small steps is the key!!!!🖋🤏😻

My teacher always told my class that good handwritings come through practice ✍🏻 A tip for beginners is to practice writing on the lined notebooks while noticing the capital line, middle line, and base line. Next, practice your neat handwriting as often as possible! When the muscle memory develops, you will write neat handwritings effortlessly ✨ Practice makes perfect. Hope this helps!

Fun thing: the traditional pen hold (tripod on middle finger) was developed for the dip and fountain pen. The 45 or so degree angle that you get is great for letting the ink flow out smoothly with the minimum of pressure needed. Modern ballpoint, gel, fineliner, etc, pens will work better in an upright grip as it will put the pen tip in best contact with the paper. But, due to history, we are all taught a grip that fights modern pens. So, use whatever grip works best for you unless you want to write with a fountain pen, then practice the traditional grip for best results.
you know why?...cuz lettering is a bad calligraphy with fancy colors and cliches .... if you want a nice handwriting you must stay away from lettering.
