A great site with both history and geology. In carbonate basin, dolomitization doming in the center can cause thrust folds surrounding the dome. Then this type of thurst can only affect the surface of the crust but not the whole crust structure. I am thinking about the Africa Congo copper deposits occurred in and above proterozoic dolomite. There should also have detachments or domes, basin and ranges.

The length-scale for these structures is very small - just a few metres - so a very unlikely cause of larger-scale thrusting ....
