I am a Lidl fan as it has a good bakery and teh shop is a reasonable size so takes shorter time to find all the items I want. I then look down the middle aisles and buy all sorts of tools and garden bits. Yes , good value for a pie. Glad you liked it.
I dont buy at Lidl simply because they treat their staff much worse than Aldi does. From working conditions to pay its much worse at Lidl. Otherwise theyre just equally bad companies pressuring small suppliers like farmers into horrible dumping prices. But thats just the norm these days. Nothing we can do other than directly buy from the farmers.
4:30 just a pointer but at 2:24 it said to place foil tray (ie, the pie in its foil tray) on baking sheet/tray it did not say anything about kitchen foil (or in your case baking paper)
I don’t work for Lidl but I am mostly impressed with their food and I have been shopping there over twenty years. They don’t go in for fakes or copies but there stuff is usually quality.
Lidl beef pies are really good and great value. It’s worth going for the ones in the chiller than the freezer. Will definitely check out the beef dripping one. Thanks again for the heads up on what to buy
Well its 1264 calories per pie. Each lb of fat equates to 3500 calories. Assuming a daily calorie expenditure for a sedentery lazy man at about 2200cal/day (2000 for woman) You would have to consume 14,000 calories over your maintenance to gain 4lbs of fat. So for an average sized man thats about 16,200 cal in 1 sitting or 12.8 of these pies.
Bought some space raiders onions ring from Iceland, cooked them up yesterday in the air fryer and they taste absolutely mad 😂 Would love to see you review them!
Sorry for saying it again Gareth in them air fryers come ovens you don’t take any notice of the temp all ways take 20 degrees of IE 180 and take 5 minutes of the time then probe it if you wish good vid mate
Good review Gaz.MandS used to do a Tin of Chunky Steak in gravy that was so good for making pies with. They still do it but the tins are half the size they were now and some reviews say it's nowhere near as good as it used to be.
Thanks for sharing this.. Lidl is my closest shop.. that definitely would look great sitting on top of a portion of chips so that once chopped open the gravy would make the chips taste beautiful 👍👍 thank you 👍👍

Sat at the table you looked like Desperate Dan 🤣 I had their chicken and mushroom version a couple of months back… very nice they were, the steak looks better…
Silicon sheet rolls from Amazon. They last for a long time, and protect your backing trays and airfryers, micorowaves etc. LIDL Frikadellens. Ready cooked sausage meat and nicer and cleaner than bangers - microwave in 1minute. Fried brekkie, or with chips and beans, or with mash and onion gravy, green peas or cabbage and beans
Really enjoyed watching, almost as much as you enjoyed savouring the pie!! I will buy one of these, Lidl is my favourite go to store. Take care, from one baldie to another.
very tempted by your review . Could not find the pie but picked up one pie that looked identical. it was however significantly more expensive at £3.90. It might be they have dropped the one that you reviewed which seems too cheap compared with similar pies from other super markets. The differences that i noticed quickly with the pie that i bought was it seems to be already cooked , it is 10% heavier at 500 grams. and the beef dripping is missing., and the cooking time is less at 30 minutes and of course the price is a lot more. I have not yet cooked it yet but thought that i would make this early review to let others know that it might have been withdrawn perhaps mistakenly offered too cheap.
A great looking pie for £2.69. It would do me two meals once I add some mash and some veggies. Beef dripping will really bring out the flavour of the meat. You had my mouth watering with this one m8 🤤🤤😋 And best of all ? I have a Lidl’s within a few minutes walk from home. Up until recently I did do quite a bit of shopping at the Co-Op local. Now I’m beginning to get more active I will be doing my shopping in Lidl. Co-Op prices have become ridiculous. On one visit to Lidl per week to stock up with the usual items for me, dog and cat food, treats for them etc ? I reckon I saved about £50. I can’t believe how prices compare. I’ve always done my main shopping in either Lidl or Aldi. I know people who wouldn’t shop in either store as they think cheap prices gets you cheap products but I disagree. Plus I love the weekly promotions based on various countries, like Greek foods, Polish foods, French and Italian foods. Anyway I’m waffling on again. Great review Gareth keep them coming.
@@BaldFoodieGuy Damn!!!! Went to Lidl tonight and they had sold out of these pies. Promised they will be back in soon. I would love to see the return of steak and kidney pies though. They are truly scrumptious. But I did manage to get a liver and onion ready meal, so all’s well. 👍🏻👍🏻
When you mentioned the price Gareth, I thought yep, its Lidl on price I don't think, and sure enough when you opened it up, as usual it was mostly pastry. Seems to have tasted good so I suppose it might be worth a try. Thanks for a great review though 😊👍
Seen this the other day in Lidl picked it up and put it back wasn’t sure???? But after seeing this will be buying one! Thanks for the review! Love a Pie! Cheers!!
A friend's husband is the Director of a food production company that makes ready meals for various supermarkets. His exact comment was .... "None of the production staff shop at Aldi, Lidl, Iceland etc which should tell you everything about the contents". I do know they use a lot of fillers and chemical additives. I love to cook so usually batch freeze homemade otherwise, the only ready pies we eat are from Cook.

The beef was more generous than I thought it would be. Looked very tasty. 😊😊
There's a chicken and vegetable version that's really nice too.

We used to fight over the beef dripping leftover from Sunday joint to spread on toast as kids ..yummmm

When I was kid, you could get dripping from the butcher.
As you say on toast or just spread on plain bread with a little salt, yummy.
