Morphy CRUSHED the best players of his time, taking chess as a childhood past time... retiring at 13 after smashing Lowenthal, coming out of retirement at 20 to kill time and show the chess world who was boss, he studied and played little chess by any chess master standar and so was at the BEGINNING of his true chess potential, yet was essentially invincible... as Anderssen himself said so... yeah the greatest chess genius in hi story

It's actually funny if you ever get the chance to do what morphy did with the queen holding the d2 pawn in place and then going on an attack while they literally can't even move. I've done it twice because well usually you can't do it but when the moment is there try it it's really funny. I love that we can get little tips like that from masters of the game just like fishers book taught me to go h4 h5 if facing the sicillian dragon to open the file and to be honest it works like 90 percent of the time. So much information in our era that even noobs can learn good strategies from top players

hikaru is the world champion bad guy of chess. his skill at chess is only rivaled by his streaming genius. feared and envied by his competitors while loved and adored by his fans. The only streamer in history who is undefeated, undisputed and never missed a move. 100% accuracy rating and protected by a motley crew of stonemasons whenever hes out in public....-excerpt from a history book dated 2044

What makes Morphy unofficially the "first world champion," ahead of Adolf Anderssen, winner of the first international chess tournament of 1851? I mean, I get that he would later go on to lose to Morphy in 1858, but do those seven years not count for anything? More precisely, what criteria made you settle on Morphy over the dozen or so other "unofficial" champions listed on the world chess championship wikipedia page?
