Very interesting video, thanks for your information. After 3+ years of use, my cube doesn't hold a charge for very long and has pretty much quit. Is it possible to replace the batteries that you mentioned at time 2:27 on the video? Are these a replaceable item, and would you know the type, specs or brand of a battery that could be used. Great little item, and I'd like to keep my going.
it should be pretty easy to find one on ebay. Just look at the markings on the original battery and find it by that. It can be a bit different battery but it has to be a lithium battery with the same size so itll fit the case
+mygiguser Okay! Thank you very much for your response. I'm totally trying this so I can attach it to a Syma X5C copter :D I just need to buy those super small screwdrivers. Good video by the way! :)
The case has a strong magnet in it, and i needed to find out how to remove the magnet, because the magnet was interfering with a magnetic sensor close to the cameras. Also, when mounting the camera in an airplane, I love to keep it as light as possible.
Some people complain about the magnet is still sticking to surfaces, after removing the camera. So in some cases, the glue is very weak and in some cases very strong. Try it, but be aware not to damage anything behind the magnet, if you try to remove it from the outside. I had mine pushed out after disassembly. Mine had really strong glue. And risking the internals is not worth it.
mygiguser I don't want to either, but want to make it focus closer than it does now, figured that putting an extra convex lens there should do. Maybe got any other ideas?
Is yours still working? Have you had to replace the battery yet? I have the Cube+ and love the videos it takes and would love to be able to replace the battery.
mygiguser : No one seems to have them. Mine is holding only a 10 min. Charge. I will try resetting it first. If that does not help. I plan on buying the act 2 Polaroid cube from amazon and using your great guide to replace the battery out of the Plus. Act 2 does not have the same picture quality, no slo-mo, and no timelapse features. Polaroid is still making the Act 2 but not the Plus. Does not make any sense to me. Lol
@@MannyCAM Did you try replacing the cube+ battery with that of the act 2? Did it work? if anyone knows where I could buy a replacement battery for the Cube+ I would appreciate it. PS. How long (months, years?) did the battery last for you MannyCAM and did you use the camera extensively?
Sc0pee ; Hi, I have taken it, the plus apart thanks to this video, but i haven’t purchased the original cube from amazon yet. About 30.00 to get it. But I have high hopes and will post my results. I really love the plus. Everything about it. The picture quality is way better than the original cube. I used mine extensively and only got a year before the battery started failing. Was lucky to get 20 min at the most. I did use a powerbank at the end which gave it unlimited power but not practical in every scenario. Worked perfectly for time lapses or static shooting. Odd that the company is still producing the original and not the plus. So lets hope the battery swap works. I have other cameras, the Osmo, the Osmo Pocket, the Osmo Action and the Sony 330, the 405, funny how much I miss the plus...lol
alright, thank you for the attention... although the weight in the camera specs is 44 grams I also use it on a multicopter... and those grams matter haha
+Nadene Shoukri Sorry, but i had to remove the magnet on the bottom of the camera, because i had magnetic interference with the compass on my quadcopter.
The half with the rainbow stripe should be pulled AWAY from the camera whilst the other half without the rainbow stripe should be PUSHED INTO the camera to release the locked clips so the 2 halves could be separated. Your advice @ 2:00 "...to push the rainbow IN...." is misleading & incorrect. Glad I didn't follow your advice as I would have damaged the clips and make my Cube useless.
終於找到拆解VIDEO了,可以拆我的CUBE,非常感謝
Thanks for posting this. Now I will remove the magnet and use the camera on my DJI Phantom 2.
What if you take that screw off the logic board and pull it out? What chips do you find on it?
What batteries does the Polaroid Cube use please? I am trying to find a replacement as mine are dead/damaged.
great. I want to save weight by removing the magnet. Can i just use a flat head screw driver to pry it off? just glued?
yes it's just glued on there

or if you can get rid of the batteries. I can provide 1s power through my miniquad and without the batteries, it would be much lighter
These are great little cameras, going at ~$20 now. But really need to figure out how to replace the battery on this thing!
My polaroid battery's drop, where i can find a new battery?
Ban Ben i have never seen one anywhere.

Hello! Are you able to reassembly it back together after this?
Yes of course

raexe R Thanks
Do you know if the battery can be replaced. My one doesn't power on without the cable.
i couldnt find it online, but if you find one you could replace it.
Very interesting, just wondering why you would need to disassemble the camera?

Is the battery replaceable? It’s a second reason to do this. My battery only lasts 10 min. These days after 2 years of use.
How much does it weigh now after you took it apart? Cause I don't know if my 3"quad can lift the stock 68g
Felix Baum i don’t have a scale right now. Give me a few days, and i’ll let you know.
@@mygiguser Thank you so much!!!
I measure 26g with SD card inserted
@@mygiguser Thanks!
Wow that's really light. Including the battery, right?
my micro sd card stuck inside, cant get it out with a tweezer, what can i do?
Is there a way to remove the magnet from the outer shell itself? Possibly with a knife?
I don't know, they are glued in, and it very hard to remove them.

Thanks for the video. Any idea if I can take the top cap off the lens and put it back on safely as well?
What do you mean with top cap of the lens?
mygiguser I mean the top clear lens cover which seems to be just a uniformly thin piece of plastic/glass which covers the actual lens.
SnipeGift OK, I see. I didn't go that far, because, I did not want to destroy the camera.

Hi, does somebody knows how can a I replace the batteries? is it there any option or hack? Thanks
after tearing down the cube +... can i take out the ir cut lens, so it can film with ir leds?
No, i didn't take the lens apart.
thank you for the quick answer!
it is possible to take out lens out? I mean for use other kind of lenses ??
Not really. It seems to be glued in.
do you know if theres some camera similar size with out optics?
Juan B. Gonzalez Sorry, no I don't know.
Hello! my polaroid turn it on and stays with the green LED and I do not photos or video matter how hard they try. You know why that happens? THANK YOU
+treb zere Maybe bad memory card? Or the card is not formatted right.
Have been waiting 5 Years for a How to 're assemble a Polaroid Cube ???
bigearedmouse17 me too, and then i sent it to GoPro for a $100 upgrade program, and i got a GoPro instead. That’s how that went down...
do you know what kind of the glue for the magnet ?

Why do you want to know this? Did your magnet fall off?
yep, my magnet on polaroid fall off ...
The mic doesnt work on mine, anyone know a fix?
could you weight it pls?
I measure with my kitchen scale 0.10lbs or 45.5g
alright, thank you for the attention... although the weight in the camera specs is 44 grams I also use it on a multicopter... and those grams matter haha
Alberto Jimenez Well, I don't know how accurate my scale is.
Please do a teardown of the Polaroid cube+
Why?
+mygiguser to see if the internal layout is diffirent because they added wifi and some other stuff
+Minh Vu I don't have the cube+. Can you send me one?
Are you the micro mini guy
