@@thatboyminus You may have not watched Sailor Moon back in the 2000s, but you do a nice impersonation of Jason Barr's Tiger's Eye. In fact, you kind of do sound like Tiger's Eye voiced by Jason Barr.
Placing Ash vs Kukui as an honorable mention instantly brought this list down for me. A battle doesn't have to have huge stakes to be fun and memorable. And that's what Alola was all about: fun. Because if something's not fun, why bother? It was an epic, high-energy showdown between two characters with a more than well-established relationship, featuring the culmination of Torracat's story arc, top tier animation, awesome music, and Ash triumphing over the strongest Trainer in Alola and the closest thing he's ever had to a father during the series. Those factors are more than enough to make it one of my Top 3 favorite battles in the anime. Ash winning the Alola League was an awesome achievement, and I'm glad you acknowledge that on this list, but to me, the exhibition match was the culmination of the Sun & Moon series and Ash truly proving himself as the greatest Trainer in Alola.
@@thatboyminus I meant what I wrote. Ash vs. Kukui was an action-full, enjoyable, and grandiose match that shows that a battle doesn't need to have big stakes to be an enjoyable classic. I recommend you watch a video called "Ash vs Kukui - How To Make The Perfect Pokemon Battle", because it explains very well why I like it.
He wasn’t saying it was a bad battle, he was just saying that in terms of important victories for Ash it slightly misses out. Personally I disagree with that as it is the battle that says “Yes, Ash is a worthy champion” by defeating top tier level pokemon.
For me personally, while this battle may not have had high stakes attached to it's outcome, it still did do one thing very well: Kukui was probably the single strongest trainer in Alola at that time, even if he was specifically choosing to not be involved in the tournament himself. By beating Kukui, this proved that Ash didn't just earn his victory to become the first champion of Alola, but that his strength was arguably the real deal, and that he deserved the title he earned. There's also the other themes present in this battle that others have talked about already, and they're important, too, but for me, a big part of what made that victory so satisfying was that it validated Ash's title as a champion in Alola
I personally would have switched the second and third ranked battles myself. Think of it this way: while Ash finally became a regional champion by beating Gladion, his victory against Paul was arguably more important, but not necessarily because he helped Paul to change afterwards, or even because it proved Ash's philosophy of training to be superior -- rather, it was more so the fact that if Ash had lost, it would very likely have demotivated him from continuing to be a trainer. For Ash, I think the reason why he felt like he had to prove himself to Paul so badly is because it meant that if Paul were to always come out on top, it would prove that Ash's method of training his Pokemon by becoming friends with them would not be enough to cut it if he truly wanted to be the best he could be. Because of this, I think that being defeated by Paul then would have either crushed Ash's spirit, or at the very least caused him to be forced to seriously reconsider the way he went about training his Pokemon and decide if sacrificing his friendship with the Pokemon he caught was worth it if it meant bringing out their full power. It's also worth mentioning that this battle helped to cement this ideology that the series has always tried to push: Pokemon have always been meant to be friends and companions to the people who catch them, not having value purely for how strong they are and how many battles they help their trainers to win the way Paul viewed them as being

What do you mean?
;)
Yahooo
The battle between Ash and Cynthia is definitely my favorite and Cynthia is one of my favorite female Pokémon character crushes and my favorite Pokémon champion.
Better than Ash vs. Leon?
@@thatboyminus To me it is!
@@thatboyminus it is lmao how you have Ash vs Cynthia 4th when that’s the only battle I see people really talking about outside of him world championship victory
In my opinion leon sucks cuz if he has a “mighty charizard” how come just about everyone beats him up 😂 and the galar region must suck at pokemon or something
