    I was unlucky, I had the same problem where one pipe was hold one with one nut, when removing the old system one of the bolts that stick out of the engine block broke off, very unlucky, I went to a garage to remove it, they first welded another nut on it but it broke off too sadly so they bored it out en tapped a new tread for a new bolt. I fitted the same full black widow exhaust system with the steel blue tip 200 mm can, it's super loud! Sounds amazing, love the vids keep it up!

    Surely the worst of the Divvy is the un aesthetic angle of the silencer/pipe. It would be a lot more pleasing on the eye to be either parallel to the ground or upswept . As always , thanks for the content.

    The N is better for heat dispersion but in the summer both versions cook my thighs to well done.
    Granted though I love my 2010 F ABS. She's seen about 4 crashes in her life and she's still going strong

    Vintage! I had a naked XJ6 as my first "big bike" when I passed my test a decade ago. So slow, so hot, so uncomfortable, so heavy feeling. Sold it within the year. I checked it out on the DVLA database recently and was happy to see it's still running and has an MOT, which is something I can't say for 2 of the 3 bikes I've had since! So at least it's a workhorse.

      @@K0NSview I don’t know. If I was going to do it all over again now I’d probably get a 400 as a first bike after passing my test, would probably make me a better rider long term than going straight for a 600. For a 600 I’d definitely go for the SV650 for a couple of years.

    Hey Spicy, I've had my XJ6 Diversion F in black for a couple of years now as my first big bike and agree with a lot of your loves and hates about the bike. I primarily use it for commuting and overall it is definitely a good reliable workhorse of a bike. Btw I'm also from the Portsmouth area not far from Hayling Island, still hoping that one of these days after the lockdown I might see you on the road!

    I have had my FZ6R, The American version of the XJ6 Diversion F for just over a year. I have often heard it said that it is not very exciting but having test ridden the Honda CBR650 N and the Suzuki SV650 I think the Yamaha is just as exciting. You are right about the suspension. I am going to try a better quality tyre.

    “This bike has another name….The Ball Cooker”
    Panigale owners be like “That’s cute” 😂
    Amazing how such an uncomplicated and ‘boring’ (your words, not mine) bike can really root itself deep into your affections - yet tiny little niggles (like the scratch) can also boil your blood too.

  • @ilovecake50

    Suspension is the weakest thing on my 2000 xj600 diversion, I've stiffened the damping on the front with heavier oil, that helps a bit but the chatter on a rough county road when you are giving it some is hysterical

  • @MrGeoffrey1998
    @MrGeoffrey1998 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What bothers me on the XJ6 is that exhaust systems are expensive, and the stock one has a 4 pipes to 1 huge pipe, so to put a custom exhaust it's so expensive.
    If i could buy the big pipe > standard size then i'd be able to get it weld on and buy a cheap exhaust but nope.. you have to buy a kit to get that adapter and, usually, the mufflers that come in the kit are too loud, even with the DB killer in.

    • @rebornspawn
      @rebornspawn 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If your interested I have a scorpion slip on can for the XJ6 that you bolt to the stock exhaust. But I don't see why you couldn't cut off the end and weld her up for a straight through? 🤔 I live near spicy110

      @@rebornspawn you can but you have to weld the fecker and it's TIG welding.. horrible with the argon gas etc :'3 nah don't worry, before tuning it i have to see why TF my engine is knocking at low RPM when hot.. happened right after the official service :/

    I have a 2010 XJ6-N, riding in the Sydney heat I definitely get the ball cooker issue. I have a full Two Brothers system that has the can under the engine just like the stock system. The one issue with that exhaust is that its actually for a FZ6R so you either have to delete or remove the belly pan due to the headers sitting further from the engine. Love the vids!

  • @MrDomo85
    @MrDomo85 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have an fz6 s2 even though they are different bikes with pretty much the same engine I totally get you with the ball cooker! Rather toasty which is not helped with the exhaust under the seat..

    Number 1 suspension...
    If you are for example a GP Spec Rider let's say 5'6-6'0 with 75kg weight.
    Does soft/er suspension actually do anything if the bike doesn't even feel your weight on it?

    Spicy, here's an idea about your fairing. Years a go, 1990-ish, I had a red and white Kawasaki AR125 (oi! Stop sniggering at the back there!!!).... Haaaanyway... Being 17, and wanting to trade my financed bike back into the dealer when I passed my test to get a Blue/White GPX250R, I came up with a cheap way of filling in the scrapes I had on the cockpit fairing. Tippex. Yup, that old correctioner paste... Again, stop laughing as it piggin worked! I just kept adding layers til it filled the gouges and then lightly rubbed it back so the surface was smooth, then rattle canned the fairing (rubbing down with T-Cut between each spray), and bingo! Even the dealer could'nt see any marks under the mirror finish hahahaha haha 😉😁😎

    Hey Spicy, Thanks for the video. She looks so new for 50k. I've had my 2011 Diversion S for 1 year now. Its a slightly damaged one but only 13k miles and only £2k so still a great machine and probably got years of life left. I was wondering if you knew what the cheaper option would be to get better sound. Your Black Widow exhaust looks very expensive. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Maybe if I keep this bike for years I can justify the cost as you never get your money back on these extras. Have you still got the bike?

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I still have the bike nearly 55k on it now. As the exhaust is an all in one I am sorry to say your only option is the full system. Black widow is by far the cheapest one I know of so it is kinda that. For me the sound transforms the bike but that is just me.

    • @ewanstevenson4721
      @ewanstevenson4721 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spicy110 thanks for reply. So you've persuaded me and I've just ordered a black widow. The basic stainless steel 300mm low level. How many BHP do you think you get? I'm sure I will feel the difference with 5kg less as well.

    • @5mattcolour
      @5mattcolour 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had one as my first big bike ten years ago, it was okay. Steering and suspension were vague and uninspiring and it always felt quite big and heavy to me compared to the power it put out. I grew out of it pretty quick. If I was passing my test these days I'd probably sacrifice the extra CC's and get something like a Ninja 400, R3, or an SV650, something light and good handling which you can really develop your skills on, ride for a coupe of years, then upgrade.

  • @easternmenace
    @easternmenace 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the opposite problem on the ninja 250, the suspension is so hard that my spine acts as a shock absorber. Also when you go over a big bump the plastics sound like they are breaking lol. The bike literally doesn't go down when I sit on it, might have to look if the suspension is set to the hardest setting or something but I don't know much about suspension. I'm afraid that one day something is gonna break off or the frame will crack lol
