Hey you two! Just found you on here- can't believe it, I made the same bike ride two years ago! Maps.me said it was a secondary road (which I suppose it is).. Had to camp just beyond the splinter bridge, luckily found a spring at the peak for water. Saw nobody! Was not as loaded as you, camping stuff and a guitar- no food. Not sure if I would recommend that route, but it was the best part of my Lao trip!
Hi Nealvagamundo. That's so cool! There was hardly a soul there when we drove through it as well. It was our best cycling stretch in Laos too. Would recommend it to anybody with enough resourcefulness and experience 👍🏼
Hey cycling around the world. A cross the country it is hard beacause you dont know the livel of the road it hard for the biker up and down thes two biker allmost 4 mont all over the cross country. Tamp up gay. @ weels to wander@@WheelstoWander
Hey you guys I have to say you have my utmost admiration and deep respect. I have watched all 55 vlogs in 5 days and its been both epic and emotional. There were days there when it was so tough for you both it hurt me to watch but you were so positive and full of joy at the world. Having spent a lifetime travelling I know that it is a huge education and such a power for personal growth and change. I wish you both well, stay safe and I look forward to the next installment. Love and hugs Paul
Hi Paul, traveling is certainly a life changing experience, the best education you can get!? Did you document your journey somewhere? Thank you for the wonderful words! 🙏 All the Best, E&M
@@WheelstoWander Hi Guys - at 17 I made my 1st journey overland to Afghanistan, Nepal and India in 1969. I walked and hitchhiked and took local buses and trains for 18 months. I came into an inheritance on my return and studied tunnel engineering. Got my 1st job as an engineer in 1975 and have lived and worked until today building tunnels. I have worked on every continent except Antarctica, I have worked in 47 countries for anything from 6 months to 2 years, I have traveled to 94 countries in total. I am still travelling for 6 months a year and doing short contracts of 2 to 3 months to finance my travels. I spend the autumn each year at home in Catalunya about 160 kms south of Barcelona. For the most part I still backpack. At the end of each contract I tried to spend 2 to 3 months exploring the country I had just been working in. I stand by the "best" education statement - clearly you can get an education about a specific subject in a university for instance but there is not an educational establishment anywhere that can teach you about yourself, life, other cultures like traveling. Stay safe and stay well. Paul.

It's so badass how you've gone all over all over all over, really true adventurers and that its a team of you makes it that much more special
I met a young Englishwoman in Khong Chiam (Thailand) a couple of years ago who was going solo up Laos on her pushbike. I admired how brave she was. We didn't exchange details, which I regretted as soon as she was gone (well, I'm 70 and she was early/mid 20's, so nothing in common, hey). Anywho, I often wonder how she went. SE Asia (especially Laos) is probably the only part of the world where you could even contemplate such a trip coz the people are so affable.
Beautiful job. We love Laos. My wife and I spent our 50th anniversary in Luang Prabang and although we did not arrive by bicycle we took a wonderful bike trip to the waterfalls. Keep up the nice work.
That was one of your best , I feel that morning, what an adventure yes tuff for sure, nothing takes that away but both of you I bet wish for such adventure again such beautiful memories ,you feel that bumpy ride the fresh air and the sun on your face, so cool 😎.
Hi David! It for sure is one of our favourite days in South East Asia. Tough and wonderful. We are planning to do something like that again in the future.... 😉 We hope you are safe and sounds back in Scotland!? 😊 E&M
I love watching you two go. I am itching to get back on the road with no end in sight for the covid thingy. That makes videos like this all the more enjoyable. If I cannot travel myself, I will travel through your eyes. Thanks again. Michael from Ireland.

I took the same track in the other direction during the wet season. Needless to say it was one of the toughest days in my trip. From Van Vieng to the house in 8:12 took me 3-4 hours... I had a great night sleeping in that house! I was really happy to see in your video! Thanks

Nice tour guys! I live in Indonesia and enjoy touring. I cycled Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang. Very lovely. Vietnam and Cambodia also great for touring. Hope you make it to Indonesia one day!
Glad it was just a small fall. That road looked so tough. There where some good rewards at the end. Hope the gearing got fixed. Nothing more annoying as when your gears don't change. Take care and stay safe, Al
I saw it from the bike and it looked like a nasty fall. Lucky Maudi only picked up a bit of dust and some minor scratches. Her drivetrain turned out to be worn down so the chain kept on skipping. We tried to get it fixed but had no luck finding the right components. Thanks as always 😊 E&M
That looked though. Was there ever a moment you were thinking ‘lets go back’, or did you just keep on cycling? :) Some great shots, such a beauty over there, so it was definitely worth it. For us at least. 😂
You two are tough! That is really tough going with all the up and down and a loose track to navigate. Maybe mountain e-bikes! My wife is from Nong Khai, Thailand, just by the bridge to Laos and the people are truly beautiful. Glad you are living in the moment and seeing Isaan up close and personal.
Thanks Dave, we do our best 😉 Mountain E-bikes would be great but it would also feel like cheating 😅 We will try to put the bikes on a diet for the next time around. We loved our time in Thailand and hope to be back one day 👍🏼 All the best for you and your wife! E&M

Hello everyone, welcome to Thailand. My name is Tom from Thailand. Live in Chiang Mai Oh my God, I have seen your journey. It is beautiful and inspirational. I want to travel. I want to come back again. Safe travel luck😊🙋🙏🙏🚴🚵
I love your approach and tempo! It is an absolutely perfect setting for biking away from traffic ... I would have liked you to take more time to film some spots and also details like what grows in the forest, the insects, the life around the freshwater points ... It would be interesting that you bring back plant seeds during your travels... Thank you for the wonderful moments shared and and I hope you will start the cycling adventure very soon!
Thanks Didier! We love to shot detail shots, it got a bit lost in all the other film work going on 😉 That's an interesting idea taking plant seeds. We could start a garden with plants from all over reminding us about our travels 😊 All the best for you!! E&M

I just find this video and I stop at 4.30 and decided to go all the way to your first video. If you guys ever visit Bandung, Indonesia, I would be honor to ride a few kilometers to the next town with you guys..
Loving the videos - have watched so many! Would be nice to see some of the destinations too - Bangkok, Vientienne, Vang Vien when you are there - we need a stop off from the cycling too!
Hello my friend hope you are well and having a great weekend so far. Just found you today and really pleased we have your videos are awesome. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us really appreciate it. Keep up the great work. Fantastic editing skills and great choice of music works really well. Blimey I thought you fell off the bike, hope you are okay my friend. Stay safe and take care. God bless you catch up soon 🙏❤️👍
"Op de slechtste wegen kom je de mooiste mensen tegen." (On the poorest of ways you meet the most beautiful (generous) people). I once heard that from another world traveller. Poor people seem to give away things much easier than so called rich people. Nice to hear that confirmed ;-) Have a good trip, you two!
Thanks! We have a stabilised lens, try to pan and tilt as smooth as we can and than use some post processing software to stabilise it even more when needed.
I have about a month off per year to do cucling trips. I think Laos has just climbed up my list. I wonder what tires you recomnend. I have marathon road tires but think I would need different ones for that trip. Any advice? And what would you recommend a good circle route of Laos would be if there was a 3.5 week limit? I tend to cycle 60-80 kms a day but with those roads and the heat probably more like 45-60 kms a day?
Have you tried pushing with one hand on the handlebar and the other holding the back of the seat? It can be easier that way on the very steep climbs on rough roads.
Hey, TH-cam just recommended this video to me. It's clear you're in Laos based on the scenery, the dirt roads and all the 'Sabaidee'' coming from the kids. But I wonder exactly where you're riding. My trip through Laos was mostly on asfalt/concrete, so I wonder if you're coming in from Vietnam going west along the smaller, unsealed roads.
@@alexmorgan3435 Thanks. I've been to their website, but I cannot see a detailed route anywhere. The route in this video looks pretty remote, and very interesting.
@@WheelstoWander Got it, thanks for your reply. I went on Google Maps to see if I could find the possible route you took, but it's hard to know which trails you were on. Anyway, going so remote is very admirable! :-)
Super mooie tijd gehad daar!! Big Hug, E&M
Wonderful video! I was cycling there a few months ago. The ride between Luang Prabang and Vang Vieng was tough but epic. The steepest roads I've ever cycled were in North West of Thailand though.

Always enjoy your videos, but your story telling has improved greatly. Great from the beginning, but now even better. Congrats, and take care.

I love your video so much, that was very challenging👍
Thank you Deny 😊
"Op de slechtste wegen kom je de mooiste mensen tegen." (On the poorest of ways you meet the most beautiful (generous) people). I once heard that from another world traveller. Poor people seem to give away things much easier than so called rich people. Nice to hear that confirmed ;-) Have a good trip, you two!
Thanks & All the Best 😉 E&M
Both of you are so strong have a great trip and be careful well come to my country ✌️🤘
Thanks so much Blondier 🙏🏼
Love the video awesome cycling
🙏
Love it...what are you using to keep your bike footage stable?
We tried it and it is a good technique we sometimes use. Thanks for sharing nonetheless 😊
They came from Thailand.
@@alexmorgan3435 Thanks. I've been to their website, but I cannot see a detailed route anywhere. The route in this video looks pretty remote, and very interesting.
Hi Peter! Like Alex said we came from Thailand, crossing at Vientiane. This off road section was before Vang Vieng coming that way...
Oehh yes we heard about the North of Thailand, sounds like an adventure 😎
Great touring you guys....respects
Thanks Haider 😊
Amazing scenery. Great job getting through those mountains.
Thanks! One of our favourite stretches in South East Asia 👌🏼
