This video is 4 years old now, how has the truck held up? toddlers are masters of destruction in my experience haha. Has it been tossed down a flight of stairs?
@@John_Malecki I made a little jeep out of solid maple - used the silhouette CJ logo for the shape of it - and it's been broken and glued back together a few times already. haha. I think only those old metal tonka trucks can survive a toddler's wrath.
Awesome truck! I love the sipped tires! One weakness I've learned with the trucks that my dad built for me and those in my 2 boys collections, over the years, the axles may be a bit on the light side. When he sits on it ( and he will sit on it and try to ride it at least once!), they may break. The wheels and axle block are so big on this truck though, it would be really easy to go back in with bigger diameter dowels (or steel rods?!) the next time.
Great video John. I've always wanted to build stuff like this, not only for my kiddos but to give away to others. That beautiful flag at the end of the video was the best addition! 'merica
Best part of this video is you didn’t use the CNC machine ! Most of the people who follow you don’t have that kind of stuff . We all have modest tools and wives who say we can’t afford that. Keep on keeping it real ! Oh and I might make one of these
John Albrecht I do have one. Here is a video of my initial start up. It's based on Dave Gatton CNC. I hope you didn't take the comment the wrong way. I was just joking. The list of thing's to make now is really long. 😀 th-cam.com/video/YmDRxOIDS8s/w-d-xo.html
Was scrolling TH-cam on my Xbox and saw this wooden truck video, I thought it might be cool to watch, then I realized it was Squirrel Nation and I knew it would be 😎
A present that's made means more than you think to someone handmade no matter what it is means more than you ever would think it would that's a awesome truck u made
Nice job now you can help Santa out haha. Great fun making those . In the past I myself have made canoes and other toys similar to that and It was fun. Maybe it's time to make another to go along side yours John. LOVE the BUILD
Awesome. You dida amazing job. I'm going to take some of your ideas, and build a convertible 4x4 for my granddaughters 14 inch dolls to ride in. Wish me luck.
It sounds like wood heresy but I'm going to make my truck with long tenons at every joint. I have been making cabinets and furniture since '73 and am making a monster truck out of white oak. I'm starting a business doing cabinet work and have a channel called T wagner on TH-cam. Wood has both seasonal movement and shrinks over time not to mention moving even more if it's not dry.
Completely and utterly awesome! Makes me want grandkids to make stuff like this for. Just wondering why you had to readjust the fence to cut the wheels? Unless I'm missing something, couldn't you have cut all eight pieces that make up the wheels the same, flip four of them around and then glue them together?
Love it! This has inspired me to make my kids something this year for Christmas. Something like this would also be a cool challenge for the podcast lIsteners to take part in or a MFP vs Modern Makers challenge.
That's an awesome truck! I know the challenge of designing vehicles in layers! I'm also making wooden models, on my bandsaw. You're always welcome on my TH-cam channel to take a look !
Wow John, that's awesome! Love the truck! Oddly enough, I just posted a video making a Wooden Fire Engine with a CNC today. LOL, how weird is that! Take it easy and Happy Thanksgiving man!
After all that work I think that l would probably keep it for myself.... The only thing that l wasn't sure about was should you of used thicker dowel for the axle wheels
It would be way too difficult with how many things i just added on late in the game. But woodcraft sells some plans similar to this one you might wanna check out
HI JOHN you are very talented man ,I am making one but I could not fallow that tire making , what is the angle you set on miter gauge .please let me know ,Thank you John
sweet. This'll live on for generations. More wooden toys! Thanks for sharing.
Hmmmmmmm, 4 years later......I gotta make some toys lol
This video is 4 years old now, how has the truck held up? toddlers are masters of destruction in my experience haha. Has it been tossed down a flight of stairs?
It’s a pile of dust. Only the tires survived hahaha

I was asked to make a tank but I had no idea where to start. Thanks for the foundational idea!
I dig it! I'm sure that will be a favorite for years to come.
I now know what I want for my 42nd birthday.👍🏻👏🏻🇬🇧
That was actually pretty great! I lived the Old Glory sequence at the end. I'm sure the kid will love it!
Thanks Jim, It was a fun cool project. Im glad you enjoyed it!
Cool truck! He’s gonna love it. It reminds me of some of the old original Ford Broncos.
Love myself a good old ford bronco!
Probably one of the coolest builds I’ve seen on TH-cam lately. Good stuff!
Glad you dig it my friend, I had a blast building it
Gorve
Is it possible to have the plan for that truck?
You know you need to give that to your nephew. Looks like you need to build one for yourself as much fun you had while you were building it.
Yea he's going to love it !
Cool build, Jack will love it! Reminds me of a 60's Bronco.
Haha yes I love the 60's broncos
Thinking the same thing JB... I have a 1970 Bronco! 😊 Nice build there John! 👍🏻
I think he's talking about the 60s Broncos football team
Love how you did the tires brother ;). Thanks for sharing
The tires are my favorite part, they came out awesome. I now wanna make them for my actual 250!
Great little build, brother! Fun to see you doing something so small :)
Thanks dude, doesn't always have to be huge!
this came out great! MERICA!!! Hope Jack gets many years out of this awesome lil truck
I hope so too, knowing him tho, it will probably be destroyed as soon as he sees it

Good thought bother i'll for sure keep that in mind !
Ah man got my first grandson earlier this year, think I just may have a go at this myself. Thanks for the inspiration great video!
Glad you dig it, be sure to share how your truck comes out!
Great video John. I've always wanted to build stuff like this, not only for my kiddos but to give away to others. That beautiful flag at the end of the video was the best addition! 'merica
Haha we thought the same , the flag at the end was awesome hah
That was pretty awesome. I especially like the football tuck on the router. Bold. Bold is good btw. Thanks for putting the build out.

Glad you enjoyed it John, I try and do the best of both. So im glad you could take something out of it
Hey John, if you are looking for some other toy ideas without a CNC machine, you are always welcome on my TH-cam channel! Come say hi!

Great build John. 😎. Reminded me of a toy combine (farmer thing 😁) my father built me when I was a youngster..
That sounds so cool!
Great Video!! 👍😍👍 I gotta make one for my nephew.
Love it! This has inspired me to make my kids something this year for Christmas. Something like this would also be a cool challenge for the podcast lIsteners to take part in or a MFP vs Modern Makers challenge.

After all that work I think that l would probably keep it for myself.... The only thing that l wasn't sure about was should you of used thicker dowel for the axle wheels
6:54 safety with John
excellent truck I love to get the plans I was going yo ask about maybe a stainless Philip screw to the axle as a hubcaps
Cool build. I know you said you freehanded the template but could you make a set of plans. This would be a great project for a rainy day.
It would be way too difficult with how many things i just added on late in the game. But woodcraft sells some plans similar to this one you might wanna check out
Nice
Cool build!
John, how do you get the wheels to spin, without the axel sliding back and forth. Spacers? Would love to make this. Thanks
Cool
Sweet
Thank you so much, So gladd you enojoyed it
HI JOHN you are very talented man ,I am making one but I could not fallow that tire making , what is the angle you set on miter gauge .please let me know ,Thank you John
OMG! 😍
What did you use for axels? Wooden dowel or metal bolt/screw?
Amazing build, do you have a pattern you can share? Thanks for the video!!!!
Do you have a pattern for this project?
I don’t normally put likes on videos. But when you added Old Glory I had to like your video!!
Love thisone but culd you make a tractor🚜
Trucks only! haha a trasctor would be fun, but life size
Your very awesome bro love your vids
Would turn better if the wheels wwre independent and not on a shared axle
Why didn’t you just use a 2 inch hole saw for the wheels?
Dude I just found you and think your story is awesome! However, I don’t own half the tools lol awesome truck though my sons would love it
I bet you played with Stompers when you were a kid....
Thanks Michael, I have no clue what those are but yes!
Do you have the measurements for it please?
Wish you were my dad
Young malecki
What is the tool being used at 6:22?
Thats a hand plane
I prefer to build with Woodglut plans.
Nice
