Personally, I've been spending money on this game REGULARLY for 10+ years since I started playing. $10-40 a month depending on new skins at the time. Judging by my "achievements" tab that tracks how many skins/icons you have, it seems I'm in the top 0.1% spenders for League. I have not bought any RP in months now. Riot showed me that there is no point trying to keep a full collection (including event chromas and borders) for champions I like because inevitably one day they will drop a $150-500 stink bomb on my head. They're taking for granted how much people care about League but greed QUICKLY disillusions people and kills their dedication. Unless Riot drastically changes (which they won't because money) League will just slowly degrade over time instead of being the "multi-generational esport" they said it would be.
Same. I paid over 15-20k so far, between TFT and League, but now with the constant nerfing of passes, rerolls, and the like, I gave up. It's quite refreshing, to be honest. I don't gotta worry about buying orbs anymore.

last one hard to do, but the first two are simple to implement with the vanguard and way the client is now even playing ads while not open unless close both to keep getting more $, but it could time open the client for pop up ads while your doing other things if it is open in your system tray force closing other games or vids.

Theyve been progressively getting more and more greedy and less community based since the drop of prestige skins. They use to preach they would never release a premium skin for someone with money because it just doesn’t sit right with them and they want everyone to have a fair shot at getting decently priced skins. And now we got all this overpriced stuff that has no real world value and is an absolute down grade from the $35 ultimate skins. The price jump for prestige skins over time went 100, 200, now 250. Yes you can grind and get a “free” one with the battle pass thats also been getting more expensive over time. Things getting expensive is whatever. It’s the jump from $35 to what we get now and the quality is terrible compared to what we use to get. I’ll take every ultimate skin over any prestige skin and “exalted” or whatever. Ultimate skins get animated wallpapers. What prestige skin has? What gold colored chroma with glitter has anything cool added to it?
When I got my first Prestige, I was so disappointed. I never bothered to watch skin spotlights, because I wasn't going to buy a pass for a prestige I didn't like. So when Renata got a prestige skin, I took my chance and got it. Only to be disappointed that it doesn't even have custom voice lines.
The issue is that people still buy them. So even if most of the playerbase doesn't partake, as long as those select few keep spending money, they will keep making profit.
I bought some prestige skins, notably the Sett one because he's one of my faves, but Rito is on crack if they think I'm spending 200 smackaroos for something that isn't that much better than Spirit Blossom (a skin 10 times less expensive)

I got my Xayah skin for free thanks to the free battle pass (mythic from chests and orbs). I was hoping to get a prestige Nami, but kinda sounds like it's a pipe dream now. as a jinx main (who tried the skin in PBE for like 20 games), it's not worth it. The auto attack animation feels wonky and the sound gets super annoying. The rockets feel like they have 0 impact and some of the voices lines are VERY annoying. Is it ever going to be better than star guardian jinx? No.

@ My comment on wow may have been misplaced to be frank I only ever played to get the hs skin from levelling to 20 and got insulted for not perfectly knowing all the first dungeons mechanics as a level 15 which honestly just didn’t make me want to stick with it, but I’ve seen lots of players coming back to wow or trying it out recently so it must not be as bad as I said

Like Setts new skin has the mom’s gift choice and it’s literally five seconds of a picture of Setts mom popping up in the corner of the screen. The grit cost to even reach a second grit purchase takes like 30 minutes in game.
As someone who owns all the skins, I hope to god somehow they fuck up and add this skin to the loot pool by accident. I’ll be checking… otherwise FUCK them cause Sett just got one too.

Since the beginning my point is the same : you can make a 1 000 000$ skin and hope for some people to buy it, I don't care. You know, this is how luxury and economy go : even if the price is indecent, as long as there are some people willing to match the offer it is not my problem, and I'm not to judge neither the buyer nor the seller. But when it comes to the gameplay, I believe that this sort of thing is disgusting and dangerous. It is not ok to harass people with pricy skins, as it is not ok to create a gambling system in a pay to win game (which is not the case of LoL... yet.)

It’s just like Steve Jobs said, a company with a great product grows and hires people to help them make more money, it continues to grow and they hire more people that make money while people that know how to make a good product are being let go or leave. They fired Garena, then decided screw it, we are going to produce our very own Garena garbage instead, but for everyone everywhere. What a pile of absolute garbage. Riot games is just a joke of a company now. What a tragedy.

They were greedy since long ago. I still remember how they tried to put a event with no missions to get the same stuff by playing instead of cash basically forcing us to pay for literally pixels. That backfired hard but not that hard, they just tested the vibes discovering where lies the limit of their absolute madness where they can safely fuck with their customer base and get away with it and this is just another test from them: if they get away with it, they will not need to find another approach to fill our asses with cash bags visual reworks in form of "EXALTED SKINS" and they know it, they *FUCKING* know it.

I am cho gath main so I did put a bit of money in the game, but to me, paying this game 50$ for the whole time I played (and will play), and not a simgle coin more is ok. Though the more I see this bullshit (and not only skin/monetisation), but also that events / maps are too costly to make but then all of a sudden we get arena, the vampire survivor minigame, arcane aram, and the noxus map in pbe actually prove that we are being lied to : we were told it is too difficult, yet with laidoffs they managed to do it... honest to god, was there a single arcane skin that was actually not only good, but worth the price they are charging for, AND actually faithfull to the reference material? - Vi skin is a joke, a legendary priced ASU with over the top gooffy animations and straight up the main aspect of the skin, what you see the most, the gauntlets, don't come even close to representing any of the versions we saw of it in the show, nor it references any of the events of the show (not to touch on the point you are making a legendary that is basically the same concept/char as the base skin. The bare minimum you have to make to make it worth is go over the top quality, and this is bellow avarage). What the actual fuck? - Jinx is 3 very similar legendaries for in a $250 gatcha, so just no; - Viktor Rework is heavily unliked by the majority of the Viktor community, AND it actually (just like Brawler Vi) neither matches the show it refenreces to OR it's own splash art! those are two completly different designs barelly sharing the same sillouete and prompt. But it looks like who made the in game had no access to any material besides maybe some very early concept art on the show and some prompts on how it was finished; - Cait skin, tho what I saw of feedback for the interesteds when it was first shown, good, it is also a not much faithfull skin, and it's something that she barelly weared for 10 seconds on the finalee of ep 3. Eh, the game is on a slow decline anyways. It is painfully obvious riot is just milking all their playerbase in all the outside asia areas, so the moment they can't take it anymore they just move their 120% focus to asia and then league dies for the rest of the world. I like how there is " 1 Million daily active players" yet the queue in normal games as a sup range from 2 mins to 3 mins (only now and then you get the seconds queue as sup). People are slowly leaving the game and riot knows that, this is why they want to "shake things up" with the new season, but the cost of that is that everything will cost more. Eventually those 1350 rp skins will be 1820. The game is like a drug, no matter how much people complain, they still sink hours of their lives playing something that is otherwise not enjoyable.
Nobody is leaving the game...people were saying lol is dying for several years now. But it is actually not true. This year worlds had most views in history of LoL. I am not happy about their new tactics and monitisation, but i will wait until next season hits until i will make any conclusions.
People said "League is dying" for years, but right now it genuinely feels like it's becoming true. The casual parts of the game are completely gone, lore is gone as well and the game is e-sport centered. Anyway I am glad I left the sinking ship at the start of the year (even gave it second chance 3 months ago, but I wasn't able to enjoy the game even after long break). So yeah, good memories of League stay and time to move on.

They add some single player games like Sylas game or ruinnation with nice stories and expanding lore. The book novel Ruination was also rly good and arcane is great. You could buy over 20 books for $250. Everything from University textbooks to art, the humanities, novels, treatise. Enough material to eventually become proficient in a skill set that will set you free from your dead end corporate job, and allow you to live off your own means and live a happy and fulfilling life. I miss having the lore in the client, back in the team-builder days with the 5 minute queues it was great to just read about how these characters would romp around the league of legends before we took to controlling them, and before the lore became so self-serious

Personally, I've been spending money on this game REGULARLY for 10+ years since I started playing. $10-40 a month depending on new skins at the time. Judging by my "achievements" tab that tracks how many skins/icons you have, it seems I'm in the top 0.1% spenders for League.
I have not bought any RP in months now. Riot showed me that there is no point trying to keep a full collection (including event chromas and borders) for champions I like because inevitably one day they will drop a $150-500 stink bomb on my head.
They're taking for granted how much people care about League but greed QUICKLY disillusions people and kills their dedication. Unless Riot drastically changes (which they won't because money) League will just slowly degrade over time instead of being the "multi-generational esport" they said it would be.
League will never degrade, yes to you westerners but no to estern.

last one hard to do, but the first two are simple to implement with the vanguard and way the client is now even playing ads while not open unless close both to keep getting more $, but it could time open the client for pop up ads while your doing other things if it is open in your system tray force closing other games or vids.

Theyve been progressively getting more and more greedy and less community based since the drop of prestige skins. They use to preach they would never release a premium skin for someone with money because it just doesn’t sit right with them and they want everyone to have a fair shot at getting decently priced skins. And now we got all this overpriced stuff that has no real world value and is an absolute down grade from the $35 ultimate skins. The price jump for prestige skins over time went 100, 200, now 250. Yes you can grind and get a “free” one with the battle pass thats also been getting more expensive over time. Things getting expensive is whatever. It’s the jump from $35 to what we get now and the quality is terrible compared to what we use to get. I’ll take every ultimate skin over any prestige skin and “exalted” or whatever. Ultimate skins get animated wallpapers. What prestige skin has? What gold colored chroma with glitter has anything cool added to it?
When I got my first Prestige, I was so disappointed. I never bothered to watch skin spotlights, because I wasn't going to buy a pass for a prestige I didn't like.
So when Renata got a prestige skin, I took my chance and got it. Only to be disappointed that it doesn't even have custom voice lines.
The issue is that people still buy them. So even if most of the playerbase doesn't partake, as long as those select few keep spending money, they will keep making profit.
I bought some prestige skins, notably the Sett one because he's one of my faves, but Rito is on crack if they think I'm spending 200 smackaroos for something that isn't that much better than Spirit Blossom (a skin 10 times less expensive)

I got my Xayah skin for free thanks to the free battle pass (mythic from chests and orbs). I was hoping to get a prestige Nami, but kinda sounds like it's a pipe dream now. as a jinx main (who tried the skin in PBE for like 20 games), it's not worth it. The auto attack animation feels wonky and the sound gets super annoying. The rockets feel like they have 0 impact and some of the voices lines are VERY annoying. Is it ever going to be better than star guardian jinx? No.

Like Setts new skin has the mom’s gift choice and it’s literally five seconds of a picture of Setts mom popping up in the corner of the screen. The grit cost to even reach a second grit purchase takes like 30 minutes in game.

Since the beginning my point is the same : you can make a 1 000 000$ skin and hope for some people to buy it, I don't care. You know, this is how luxury and economy go : even if the price is indecent, as long as there are some people willing to match the offer it is not my problem, and I'm not to judge neither the buyer nor the seller.
But when it comes to the gameplay, I believe that this sort of thing is disgusting and dangerous. It is not ok to harass people with pricy skins, as it is not ok to create a gambling system in a pay to win game (which is not the case of LoL... yet.)

- Vi skin is a joke, a legendary priced ASU with over the top gooffy animations and straight up the main aspect of the skin, what you see the most, the gauntlets, don't come even close to representing any of the versions we saw of it in the show, nor it references any of the events of the show (not to touch on the point you are making a legendary that is basically the same concept/char as the base skin. The bare minimum you have to make to make it worth is go over the top quality, and this is bellow avarage). What the actual fuck?
- Jinx is 3 very similar legendaries for in a $250 gatcha, so just no;
- Viktor Rework is heavily unliked by the majority of the Viktor community, AND it actually (just like Brawler Vi) neither matches the show it refenreces to OR it's own splash art! those are two completly different designs barelly sharing the same sillouete and prompt. But it looks like who made the in game had no access to any material besides maybe some very early concept art on the show and some prompts on how it was finished;
- Cait skin, tho what I saw of feedback for the interesteds when it was first shown, good, it is also a not much faithfull skin, and it's something that she barelly weared for 10 seconds on the finalee of ep 3. Not only some details were completly different, the mood too;

Eh, the game is on a slow decline anyways. It is painfully obvious riot is just milking all their playerbase in all the outside asia areas, so the moment they can't take it anymore they just move their 120% focus to asia and then league dies for the rest of the world. I like how there is " 1 Million daily active players" yet the queue in normal games as a sup range from 2 mins to 3 mins (only now and then you get the seconds queue as sup). People are slowly leaving the game and riot knows that, this is why they want to "shake things up" with the new season, but the cost of that is that everything will cost more. Eventually those 1350 rp skins will be 1820. The game is like a drug, no matter how much people complain, they still sink hours of their lives playing something that is otherwise not enjoyable.
Nobody is leaving the game...people were saying lol is dying for several years now. But it is actually not true. This year worlds had most views in history of LoL. I am not happy about their new tactics and monitisation, but i will wait until next season hits until i will make any conclusions.
People said "League is dying" for years, but right now it genuinely feels like it's becoming true.
The casual parts of the game are completely gone, lore is gone as well and the game is e-sport centered.
Anyway I am glad I left the sinking ship at the start of the year (even gave it second chance 3 months ago, but I wasn't able to enjoy the game even after long break).

They add some single player games like Sylas game or ruinnation with nice stories and expanding lore. The book novel Ruination was also rly good and arcane is great. They will eventually update lore of other champs too.

GTA6 = 10 years+ of development, a full game -> probably $100
Exalted Skins = few monts of production, People have been complaining about every single one released, lower quality than skins from 5 years ago, if they ban your champion you can't even play it -> $250
to add to this: gta6 will not be limited, and will probably frequently go on sale, crazy how people buy this stuff
I think in a while will be like Call of Duty, you hit play and they sent you to the battlepass and store page, then you go to the play tab again and search for a match while receiving pop ups of the BP and Store items.

You could buy over 20 books for $250. Everything from University textbooks to art, the humanities, novels, treatise. Enough material to eventually become proficient in a skill set that will set you free from your dead end corporate job, and allow you to live off your own means and live a happy and fulfilling life.
Or you could buy a useless skin for game that makes you unhappy.

I miss having the lore in the client, back in the team-builder days with the 5 minute queues it was great to just read about how these characters would romp around the league of legends before we took to controlling them, and before the lore became so self-serious
