In a nutshell, I ‘m an avid dumpster diver, scrapper, picker, treasure hunter and underwater connoisseur. I prowl the city streets in search of dumpster loot, curbside treasures & scrap metal as well as scour the river bottoms for lost valuables during the summer months when I can scrounge up enough money for gas. I had the pleasure to meet this legend today at the scrap.
I looked at the comments so far and seen 2 that said the fiber cable is worthless so far none of the ones that told you to take it.
Mike you be you. It was nice of you to try to help those folks that said you should save the cable.

I was watching closely to see what the ends were on those fiber cable and I didn't see LC connectors. I think the last ones he came across were Blue with LC Connectors.

23:00 Magnaflux uses a dye with magnetic fields to look for cracks in metal. They magnaflux engine blocks to determine if they have hairline cracks that could leak water into the oil for example. Also used for inspection of critical welds or load bearing parts subjected to stress.
Dang, I just knew it was to check a flux capacitor!
I work in final inspection in a place that forges steel parts. I load the parts onto a magnaflux machine where it's sprayed with the water and dye solution, then it's pushed or flipped onto a belt that takes it to a darkened crack detection booth. It's checked for cracks under a blacklight or a type of UV bulb and either sent to the next step in the process or cracks are marked with a paint marker and sent to rework. Someone will then use a grinder to get rid of the cracks and/or slight defects. It's then put back through the magnaflux and the process is repeated if needed.
Years ago I worked for a carnival in Illinois and once a year the arms on the Octopus would have to tested for cracks and a portable magnaflux system would be used for that.

So, the other day, I'm a lady in the grocery store. I have my list of the most important stuff to get (think copper, brass, aluminum). I pick my items out and leave the junk food on the shelves. I pack my things carefully into my cart. I arrange my items neatly, filling the empty spaces, going vertical when needed, leaning flats along the walls.... I look down at my filled cart like MTS standing on the tailgate showing us the load, and realize I may watch WAY TOO MANY metal scrappers on YT! ☺ Thanx guys for all you have taught me💖

I was at a scrapyard and they had a “Beware of Moose” sign by the scale. I asked if I could buy it and the guy just gave it to me!

That Thermodyne case is a 19-inch wide equipment rack and it looks to have seals around the covers and shock mounts for the gear inside. Likely worth a pretty penny.

Over the years, I've found total of 6 mini fridges and a mini freezer while dumpster diving. 3 worked perfectly, 1 had a bad compressor, other three only required an EZ replaceable $8 load regulator to bring them back to life. BTW, those are fiber optic patch panels. Some of them get pricey. Worth a look, dude! Stay safe, Mike.

Magnaflux is a Non Destructive type of inspection. It uses fine iron filings in a fluorescent solution. You apply a magnetic field to the part and the particles will gather around any cracks or defects. You hit it with a black light to see where the particles are.

You get me about half the time when you holler close your eyes!
You have to pay a deposit for Oxygen & Acetylene tanks. Even baby ones like you found. You could run a cutting torch with that little set up & get the tanks re-filled w/o paying a deposit for the tanks. Anyone can take the tanks back to a supply house & get the deposit refunded to them. I use to run helium tanks for balloons, same deal. Any of those tanks you can find like that , just take to Airgas or something like that & you can get money, No scrap yard wouldn't be the place to take them. Ty for taking us along.

Magnaflux introduces your very own glow in the dark Mike the Scavenger.
Those are oxi/accetlene torch tanks. The magna flux kit is for testing welds for cracks, engine builders use it to detect cracks in engine blocks.
Engine heads too! I used them at the head shop i worked in to check valve seats the bottle has a metallic chalk that shows the cracks

That might be a wheelchair battery. It looks like the ones that are in my wheelchair. My chair has 2 large sealed gel cell batteries in it. About 80lbs of battery. The chair weighs in at a little over 350lbs.

@24:29 Haha, that is a 24-hour urine collection jar. If you have kidney issues, like kidney stones or other stuff, you pee in a jar for a day, then the lab gets a sample to find out all kinds of stuff about your kidney function. It's not fun, believe me.

Magna flux is used for finding cracks in iron cylinder heads or blocks. It will have a container of fine iron powder. You clean the surface of the head and dust on the powder. Then plug in the handpiece and hold the ends onto the surface of the head. The powder will highlight any cracks. its old school but good. It was common to have one in a engine repair shop.

Used to pack up "Field Offices" for a tech firm years ago, that case was the kind of thing the computer tower would be in as to prevent the water in the water cooling system from breaking intransit on dirt roads and back hills.

a magna flux tester is designed to check a iron based part for cracks. Basically, you plug in that electromagnet and stick it to a part, like a cylinder head off a car, then you use the powder in the kit, which is just an iron powder, and sprinkle it on the surface of the part. If there is a crack, the magnetic flux induced into the part will cause the powder to gather at the crack and make it visible.
Mike take all the fiber optic cable. If you decide you don't want it after then you can give( lol) it away.
As a fellow scrapper, make sure y'all get a tetanus shot every 9-10 years. Take care of yourselves out there. Peace.
