@@paulleate5768, glad I can help. There is a steep learning curve with repairing mechanical clocks but once a remedy is learned and tested to work, it can be applied to other similar type movements.
Ok done this now. It looks to me that the gathering pallet is a replacement as the cog wheel’s pin has been (quite crudely) filed to receive it. However, it’s now gone back on with a couple of light taps with a hammer. I have an excellent art deco Smiths clock with the same problem so I’ll have a look at that one too. Cheers.
Great video. Gathering pallets confuse me, but it seems that the most important thing is that the pallet catches that pain. I just picked up a German Grandfather clock that has the wrong gathering pallet. It's not shaped to catch the pin, so I may need to construct one. Unfortunately I don't have that skill set!!

How do you suggest pulling the pallat safely? Its one of the parts i havent figured out on my kienzle.

Got a nice wall clock from 20s but it will lose sync on chimes/time every few days. 8am chimes 7 etc. Easy fix?
