#Hijron

The literal meaning of Hijron ka Khanqah is a "Sufi spiritual retreat for eunuchs". It is one of the many monuments located in the narrow streets of a bazar of Mehrauli, in South Delhi. Khanqah is Persian word. It means a religious edifice where Muslims of Sufi religious order assemble to achieve spiritual peace. The word Hijron (plural of hijra) refers to community of transgender community.
It is a Pre Mughal Monument of the Lodi period of the 15th century. The care takers of the Khnqah claim that it is about nine hundred years old. The tombs are enclosed on the west in the prayer direction by a wall mosque. There are about 50 graves inside the Khanqah. But the main grave is said to be of, “Mai”.
