Tarja O`Holy Night - Dark Christmas Out Now.
Tarja has a Dark Christmas album, she released a couple weeks ago. Her daughter and friends apparently picked the songs, like "Frosty the Snowman" and she added a dark twist to them. I believe her daughter also sings on some of the songs as well as plays the drums.
Tarja has a new Christmas album out called Dark Christmas and her version of Frosty the snowman sounds like it should be in a psychological thriller or a horror movie.

Yeah, i have the old one (score for a dark christmas where this song is from), and its really different, it gives christmas a completely different feeling. While the normal versions of those songs deliver the feeling of joyfulness and happiness with your family, her versions are more akin to the feeling of spending christmas alone in your big empty house, mourning all those that can't celebrate with you anymore. It gives feelings of melancholy more than creepyness/fright

It is really good for a Christmas album. SO dark. Really refreshing way of doing the same Christmas songs.

Tarja has new album called "Dark Christmas". There is more creepy and dark Christmas songs.
Can't decide which one is more of a masterpiece so i'll say they both are in different ways!
Tarja has two of these dark Christmas albums out, first one came out six years ago and featured this song, and another one was just released a few weeks ago. Most of the songs on both are these darker interpretations of traditional Christmas songs.
the black and white adds to the creepiness suggesting old history. her voice is beautiful and looks like a vampire, again due to the black and white. the cartoon effect and the increase in music really adds drama to this-enjoyed this greatly-love to hear you do this.
Tarja has two christmas albums with dark versions of well known christmas songs and carols, and she also have her own songs on both albums, one for album. Idea for these dark albums is that christmas is not happy time for everyone, there are so many people that are alone for christmas, who lost their loved ones etc, from many reasons it can be very sad, hard and painful time, so these people can't enjoy happy christmas songs, these two albums are for these people. Tarja said that for her, after her mother died, christmas was very hard time and she couldn't enjoy it, so she decided do something for people who feel similar like she felt. And in this music video you can see two sides od christmas, that happy and warm, but also sad and cold, both characters represents both sides, there is great scene where white Tarja and black Tarja are shown from bird's eye view and look like yin-yang, both sides of christmas always exist together, always are people who enjoy this time and who can't.

This is a song from Tarja's 2017 album Score for a Dark Christmas, which features darker versions of lesser known songs. A few weeks ago, Tarja released a new Dark Christmas album, where she added to the spooky and epicness. She let her daughter and her friends choose the songs for this album, so it contains rather covers of well-known songs such as Frosty the Snowman, O Holy Night, Last Christmas or All I Want For Christmas Is You. The album also features her own song Dark Christmas. Some people can't take the horror concept of some of the traditionally happy songs like Frosty the snowman and Jingle Bells, but it's a damn awesome album and Tarja's voice is fantastic. Each song has its own video released. The most known is probably Frosty the Snowman and Jingle Bells, but the most favorite among fans are O Holy Night or Dark Christmas.
Lesser known? Maybe for Americans, in Germany every child knows this Christmas Song.

Originally the song is not a Christmas song but is based on a traditional folk song about tragic love. Evergreen fir symbolizes faithfulness.
The song O Tannenbaum was a Christmas staple in the mostly German neighborhood where I grew up in New York City. One does not usually think of Christmas as creepy. Yet another Christmas staple, A Christmas Carol, is a ghost story! And when you get down to it, it is really creepy! Loved the video, enjoyed your reaction. 🎄

Tarja is a huge fan of Christmas, every year she does a dedicated christmas tour, when she first started the tour was just in FInland but now I think she goeas allover Europe at least, and she just released her fourth christmas album 'Dark Christmas'
Her Christmas concerts are amazing. I was there for the first time last year in the Czech Republic and I'm going again in three weeks. It was already a gothic experience last year. I think that after the concert for the new Dark Christmas album I will be afraid to walk in the dark for a while.

There's this annual 'Bing Crosby of Finland' talent competition in Finland, but the closest talent to Bing we've found so far is M. A. Numminen here: "M. A. Numminen: Stille Nacht". The Germans seem to like him. As a side product talent like this has emerged: "Christmas With a Twist - Finland’s Got Talent".

"O Tannenbaum" ("O Christmas Tree") and "Stille Nacht" ("Silent Night") are two of the more popular Christmas songs (particularly the latter) that originally had lyrics in German.

I loved it, I like dark stuff like this. I don't recall seeing a tannenbaum in the video, it's mentioned in the lyrics all the time; yet it's absent. Trim a tree for Maggie, do you like stringing lights or hanging ornaments better?

I was never a fan of Tarjas 'operatic' voice. Its too thick and almost exaggerated to me, but her more contemporary voice is great. Just a sneak of opera added to it here and there is very nice.
I'm shocked you haven't tried Pat benatar.
I think she did, but not one of my favorite of Pat's songs. I could be wrong.
