Great reaction. :) Tarja's dark covers of christmas songs are amazing. Yes, it's from album "Dark Christmas" that was released in 2023, it's her second christmas album with dark covers, first one is from 2017 and is titled "From Spirits and Ghosts (Score for a Dark Christmas)". Idea for these albums is that not for everyone christmas is happy time. After Tarja's mother's death she couldn't enjoy christmas for many years, that's why she wanted to create new dark versions of popular christmas songs for all those people for whom it's also sad and difficult time, there's so many people that lost someone or are alone for christmas, or for any other reason it's not happy time for them. I think it's brilliant idea, to be honest, first dark christmas album helped me a lot in christmas time in 2020, after my mom's death. Second album is more spooky I would say. I really recommend "O Joly Night" from second album, and from first album "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" and "O Tannenbaum", both have music videos and there's story in it, so I recommend to react to it in this order. :)

I love the album Dark Christmas absolutely.. Her interpretations of the songs are so creative and simply beautiful. And to see her perform the songs live had been the highlight of my Christmas time last year. I hope she will be giving Christmas concerts in Germany next year.
Tarja knows her audience. I would pay serious money to see her do a Dark Christmas set live. She has done more than one Christmas album. I REALLY want to play them for the extended family when we host the cold soggy yule celebration, but I keep getting voted down. C;mon... the youngest grandkid is 4 now. It's time they see beauty in it's mani-fold forms. Here's hoping the orchard's bloom went well and the moths and grubs are leaving your trees alone.

The album released as 12 videos plus a bts interview/making of. the kids picked 20 songs. Tarja paired to 11 plus the album track. She will perform some live in her Christmas tour over the next 2 weeks in the Czech. Republic and Hungary.
I have never listen to any Tarja's cover that didn't surprise me: Whitesnake, Alice Cooper, Linkin Park, Paul Mcartney, Peter Gabriel...she have mount of it, all amazings
