6hp Yamaha 12ft Jon boat

This is a short video of my 12ft Jon boat with a built casting deck, 210lb driver, trolling motor & battery and lots of fishing gear being pushed by the Yamaha 6hp engine. Motor is not fast tops out my jon boat at only 10mph and that’s all I need for how and where I fish this set up. I still give it 2 thumbs up great RELIABLE motor from Yamaha! Thanks for watching🤙🏽

I have this motor but its a 2020 long shaft model running on a 20" transom. In fact I am on my second exact same motor as I took the first motor back with everyone thinking the motor was defective. Problem I am getting appears to be a spark knock on half throttle. Running premium fuel with no ethanol. Sounds great until about half throttle or so then it appears to be having a spark knock. Yamaha dealers are baffled but they have ordered me a 6 1/2" pitch prop in hopes to rectify this problem. Any owners here of this motor that is a long shaft experience this and if so did you solve the problem and if so what was the fix? Any help is much appreciated, thanks. Terry.

I just bought a 10ft job boat and I’m getting a 6hp Johnson and I’m also building a casting deck at the front

Ive got the same motor in a 15 on my 3.8 v bottom goes hard 35kmph 21.5mph

I just realised these are 4 stroke mines 2 stroke way better

Yup those 2 stokes are fast my 4 stroke putts along but gets the job done. Thanks for the comment.

Not sure I think I didn’t want to over flow and get gas everywhere was keeping an eye on the fuel level.

I just bought this motor (Yamaha 6hp long shaft) after researching the different brands. I spoke to a service tech at the dealer where they sell all the brands and he told me to get the Yamaha.

Very nice setup. Sweet rainbow. I like trolling for them. If you want too . Try to troll at 1 mph a gold castmaster one one rod and a super duper on another about 80 feet back. Very nice rainbows and Crappie
