Finally got the nerve to try and make these today. I believe I may have added just a little too much flour. They tasted good, but I think should have been a bit lighter. I THINK Costco sells it, I know Gordon Foods sells it..... here is a link on Amazon so you know what to look for! During Covid I bought it off of Amazon....it is only $1.50 more and I didn't have to waste gas driving 45 min from my home to go hunt for it. haha I have it on subscribe and save, and I store all of my yeast, open and still packaged, in my freezer! What a wonderful dough to work with. I have been looking for the perfect dinner roll (my job to bring them to every family dinner) and so far they have all been lacking. Mine made exactly 24 2 ounce rolls but unfortunately, the family is only getting 23 of them as I had to sample. They truly are the ultimate dinner roll. So fluffy and just slightly sweet. What a great recipe. I have to copy this and make them. I too have a cold home. I don’t like it warm. Bread does not like that for rising. I use a cooler and put a warmed up rice sock next to my bowl and works wonderfully.

YES! You would hand knead it for about 10 minutes or so..... until your ball comes together like mine did when I hand kneaded it for a few seconds at the end.:)

I tried making these today, even though mine came out a bit doughy, they were quite tasty. Next time I will be more mindful of the flour. I normally make big cinnamon rolls, so I knew as soon as I took the dough out of my mixing bowl, it was a little too heavy
They look wonderful and easy compared to others. I have a question about your SS dough hook. I purchased the hook & flat beater and I don’t feel confident that they are good for my mixer. I have the exact same mixer as you. Maybe I need to raise them up. Great rolls and glad to see you doing better. God Bless.
If they are Kitchenaid brand, they will be absolutely fine. My SS hook fits on a Professional 600 as well as a Professional 5 according to others who have tried it. So you should be ok. Is it actin' funny?

this is soft, but it definitely can hold condiments..... if you are looking for something more crusty, I would choose a bread that uses oil instead of butter. it will give you a chewier bread! Like my baguette video.
I have not froze them, my family inhales them! hahaha they ate half last night and tonight we are using the other half for loose hamburgers. But, I dont see why they would not freeze well. Keep me posted if you give them a try!

Yes, it will work without the egg. The egg makes it softer..... you can add 1/4 cup potato flakes to it to make it soft. Like Instant mashed potato flakes!
It is so wonderful watching you make bread/rolls. you make them with such love and make them look so easy, they are beautiful.....I am new to the baking front, but am going to give these a try and see how it goes. I always have trouble with adding the flour.....too much ....too little....always intimidates me so I hope that I learn to be like you and enjoy that part. My mother (God rest her soul) was a bread maker and now she is gone I am trying to keep up the tradition especially during the holidays. :o) She always had the best rolls....we would all fight to take home the left over ones. We put them in a big bread bag, but you can use a gallon ziplock baggie too!

Hi, these rolls look great! Can this be done without a stand mixer?
YES! You would hand knead it for about 10 minutes or so..... until your ball comes together like mine did when I hand kneaded it for a few seconds at the end.:)

Have you ever made the rolls, let them rise, but before basting milk on top freeze them to bake later on??
I have not.... I if I were to freeze them, I would freeze them after shaping. Then bring them out, let them the and rise the 2nd time then bake.
I tried making these today, even though mine came out a bit doughy, they were quite tasty. Next time I will be more mindful of the flour. I normally make big cinnamon rolls, so I knew as soon as I took the dough out of my mixing bowl, it was a little too heavy

I spray it right on my pan, then lay down the parchment. Helps that paper to lie flat and not act up! hahaha
They look wonderful and easy compared to others. I have a question about your SS dough hook. I purchased the hook & flat beater and I don’t feel confident that they are good for my mixer. I have the exact same mixer as you. Maybe I need to raise them up. Great rolls and glad to see you doing better. God Bless.
If they are Kitchenaid brand, they will be absolutely fine. My SS hook fits on a Professional 600 as well as a Professional 5 according to others who have tried it. So you should be ok. Is it actin' funny?

Would this make a sturdy bread dough
this is soft, but it definitely can hold condiments..... if you are looking for something more crusty, I would choose a bread that uses oil instead of butter. it will give you a chewier bread! Like my baguette video.

I have not froze them, my family inhales them! hahaha they ate half last night and tonight we are using the other half for loose hamburgers. But, I dont see why they would not freeze well. Keep me posted if you give them a try!

Do you have a sandwich bread recipe that is as soft as the dinner rolls?
Do you think this recipe would work without the egg? I am allergic to eggs. They look so yummy.
Yes, it will work without the egg. The egg makes it softer..... you can add 1/4 cup potato flakes to it to make it soft. Like Instant mashed potato flakes!

It is so wonderful watching you make bread/rolls. you make them with such love and make them look so easy, they are beautiful.....I am new to the baking front, but am going to give these a try and see how it goes. I always have trouble with adding the flour.....too much ....too little....always intimidates me so I hope that I learn to be like you and enjoy that part. My mother (God rest her soul) was a bread maker and now she is gone I am trying to keep up the tradition especially during the holidays. :o) She always had the best rolls....we would all fight to take home the left over ones. I have a Proline 7, but the older model. The new ones were just changed this fall..... I have the 1.3hp motor in mine.
