I actually enjoy these podcasts. It's unfortunate that you don't make money at it. If you could keep it as close to this and make a little, that would be great. I tend to want to listen to things that aren't scripted. There's a sincerity to it. Anyhow... Great stuff and good luck from Canada.
You’re likely more in tune with this than I am, but for channels that make their money off sponsorship reads I believe they work with an agency that’s a go-between with the advertisers. Gerald Undone made a video about it a while back where he had his ad agent answering questions. As far as the audio versions of the podcasts, in addition to the above I believe some platforms can populate evergreen ads mid-roll, a la TH-cam. But again, you’re probably more in tune with that since you actually have a podcast.
Shame on anyone who watches even just one of any of your published segments, no matter the length, and doesn't learn something. This series has been AMAZING!
I've been a working commercial photographer for 40 years. I've used my Nikon d3x since that model came out in 2008 and I think the last piece of kit I've purchased was a new B+W UV filter this year and prior to that, it's been years. I have my own very inexpensive studio and a 13 year old car I love. I understand the need to start shooting one thing in one style to begin however the market I am in gets requests for just about everything under the sun. So I shoot fashion, corporate, editorial and more recently, product which I like doing very much. I get compliments on my work yes, but I think that is a direct result of me only shooting what I like to shoot. I have a distinct sense of taste that makes me say "no' to something that doesn't move me. So thank you Scott for these podcasts. It helps to have someone articulate what I've tried to do even if the result are not at the level I'd like.
Love this series of videos/pod casts. I would rather you get a sponsor and keep it on TH-cam than put it into Patreon. I am always on this platform and I don’t go to Patreon. This platform is more accessible. I can also share this with other photographers on this platform. I don’t care who sponsors you. I am here for the information and the banter. You both give good perspectives and bring great experience to the subjects. I hope there is a Season 2. I really love the Information I get from these.
I really hope that you manage to get a podcast sponsor deal set up. It's been quite interesting listening in these last 12 episodes! Best of wishes with getting that deal in house!
I will miss this honest repartee, but the busy season is upon us so on with the client show. So much honesty bits that are gems. Keep it up, looking for the next steps. Kudos for really executable real stuff, no fluff zone ...
Yet another great podcast, I've really enjoyed them and have been able to take some extremely useful from all of them. Personally, I'd go down the sponsorship route and hopefully, they will be back soon.
Sponsorship. I really enjoy the relaxed format so hope you don't become too 'professional' in Season 2. ;) I would be interested to know how you maintain your love for your personal photography, does shooting film differentiate it sufficiently from your work?
podcast thing was fun little distraction, pop it into a playlist, let it do the long term burner and see what the returns look like in a few months, maybe the pod casts are more slower on the revenue compared to the shorter content, ether way if its losing money and not something that worth the time, bin it, season one will forever be online and who knows maybe one day that mid life crisis gives us season two
I would prefer a sponsorship to paying for Patreon - unless episodes are non-exclusive. If you opt for Patreon with a delayed release to the public, that'd be cool too.
i would really love to get a synapsis on this. I dont have 42 minutes to watch a whole interview...so many things on the internet and i can barely work enough as is
We are actively looking at ways to be able to make a second season of this podcast and are very much open to suggestions.

I’m sure you will find an appropriate sponsor as the series is very interesting.

Sponsorship.

One podcast per month and two videos per week on the business side of commercial photography and or daily/weekly life/business.

I really enjoy these and hope to see more but you’ve given so much advice and inspiration that you need to make something more for it

Tim you should’ve just gotten a ghostwriter for the book.

Just do like 50% of photography channels do: "This video is sponsored by Squarespace"! 😄
used that rode mic and was caught out with the power switch on my first video
Best thing to listen to when trying for 5km on a manual treadmill. Now what will I listen to?
Excellent insight guys thx again
Nikon D5 DSLR.. the biz!
Congrats on the volume of viewers!! Almost a thankless effort
Thanks!
IFITS A BIND DON’T DO IT …SIMPLE. GO WHERE YOU HEART IS ..NOT ALWAYS ABOUT MONEY .
An Impressive 36min21s before you swore.
Yeah, you gotta make money. It's you're not gonna do it goodly if you don't make money.
What is the largest item that you've shot? Is shooting large-scale objects a different skill set/ genre?
Fanta Zero Sugar for the sponsor maybe? 😆
Transfer the time spent on the podcast in having a rest. Your TH-cam is going well. Stick with that.
still no luck with the Fanta sponcership yet! Boooo Fanta!
Well done! A sponsor would be best!
Product placement , Fanta should be paying you , LOL
Sponsored by Fanta lol
