This is the Yak-3M, a modern replica. As far as I know, there are 3 authentic units left, 1 in the Le Bourget museum and 2 in Russian museums. _"In 1992, Strela launched production of aircraft under the name Yak-3M (American designation Yak-3UA) at the Orenburg NPO Strela. This aircraft has the following features: all-metal construction with elements from composite materials, lack of armament, Allison 2L engine (reconditioned V-1710), Hamilton Standard propeller, modern flight and navigation and radio equipment. The aircraft is intended mainly for museums and private collectors, as well as for participating in various air shows. As of September 2001, 12 copies were issued. The estimated cost of one aircraft is 500,000 US dollars."_
I think there were -9s in the batch as well. At one time, one -9 and two -3s were at our local airport--Sean Carrol's -9 looking for a permanent home, a -3 getting painted, and another -3 getting engine maintenace by a young man who prefered the Allison over the RR. When Sean showed up in Maryland from taking delivery (I think in California), I was there when he landed. I asked how 'authentic' the replicas were, and he pointed out the right landing gear cover, which had ripped off during the trip--just like the real thing. I wonder if any running Klimov's still exist?
WOW!!! Excellent video. One can imagine being there with the sights and sounds. Easy to get caught up in all the excitement. Thank you so much for sharing.

@Волнорез. Як-3, как и Т-34 - эта именно та техника, которая помогла разгромить люфтваффе и панцерваффе соответственно, одних - на земле, других - в воздухе. Параллель в этом.
Unfortunately, the latest and greatest version of the Yak-3 has never been launched. Instead of the M-105 engine on this model was the M-107 engine. This aircraft had a speed of 720 kilometers per hour instead of 650 in the model on video. Subsequently, Yakovlev managed to increase the maximum speed of the aircraft to 745 kilometers per hour. This Yak-3 model was excellent at low and medium altitudes. But it was July 1945. Having made the first test flights, this aircraft landed to never fly into the sky again!
745 km/h was at higher alts, when the Yak-3 engine was weak. On the deck the Bf-109 K-4 was much faster. 646 km/h (401 mph, 349 kn) at 4,100 m (13,451 ft). At 4100 the K-4 was faster, D-9 aswell.
happy sky spraying to get a milky cold refridge layer and nobody has the mind to detect that. Oh the sound of a V12, great. you all have to pay more to get your living room warm.
I would really like to hear an authentic Klimov engine sound, in comparison. If only some wealthy collector/museum/committee/enthusiasts could recreate one...
there is a Dewoitine D551 replica in build: they will be fitted with a Hispano Suiza Y12-51 (built under license by Sauer in Swiss for they Morane Saulnier) who is relative similar to the Klimov 105, because this engine is a evolution from the Hispano...But the association who built the D551 had financial problems...
If the production of Yak-3 was established in the United States using American technology, this aircraft would become the best fighter-interceptor of World War II!
@@Альберт_Кронштейн Lol great German pilots destroyed soviet planes so easily. This is why people don't take russians seriously when it comes to ww2. They insist that their soldiers were the best when they clearly weren't, except for a couple of exceptions. It's not debatable that the Bf 109 was a great plane especially when flown by a good pilot.. and soviet planes were.. meh
No wonder the Russians liked the P-39 so much. Still, I had no idea that they had a V-12 engine that delivered a couple of hundred more horsepower, and a 10-20 mph airspeed advantage over than the Merlin powered Mustang and Spitfire. Imagine if they hadn’t the production quality or overheating issues that plagued this little fighter. I’ll bet a lot of German bf-109, fw-190, ju-88s, etc. would have had a shorter lifespan and war career if this had been the case.
