A russian person here. I'm quite new to the discourse and am not sure if it was ever spoken of, but! In russian Immortel has a different surname. "Бессмертник" (Bessmertnik) which means deathless or someone "without death". However, this word has another meaning - Xerochrysum. A flower. And i think they tried the wordplay with Immortel, because it sounds very similar to Immortelle (Helichrysum italicum). Im not good at botanics, but I think these flowers are from the same species (or used to be) Anyways, I just find it interesting - the connection with the flowers. Mark Immortel is an interesting figure in the story.
Actually there was another interview in Russian here: th-cam.com/video/Dv5EiOW7MhA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=l57tD2Oh3364eeQJ Not sure how you are going to verify it but Nikolay said the following: 1) "Apathy" and "psychosis" are rather technical terms for opposite emotional sates. So the names may change. The extremes are detrimental but slightly leaning into either has its merits and you'd want to oscillate between them. 2) The game will start on Day 5 with choices you as a player won't have context for. During progression you'll be able to go bit by bit further into the past and the future. 3) We're getting an hour-long demo on Steam Next Fest. 4) Nikolay said he's still determined to create the Changeling route and make it different from the other 2. Even though the team has recovered from P2 burnout due to Bachelor's unique mechanics, they are generally fed up with the franchise. Taking that into account, Nikolay even considered making a "visual novel" for Changeling. It likely won't be the case but the game will probably end up simpler than P2 and P3.
Honestly, that's okay. Different people live and act differently in the world. Clara going straight visual novel wouldn't bother me. I'd miss walking across the town and wordlessly soaking in the atmosphere, but gameplay wise her route is suited to 99% storytelling
A good example of the unreliable narrators is the first conversation with Lara in Pathologic 2. Neither Lara nor Artemy remember how long he was away for well and there are 3 possible beliefs they can express 5, 6 or 7 years
If you like a creators choices, or have choices they made in the past you really like, you can do that creator a kindness by seeking their feedback email and telling them what you liked and why you liked it. Individual, subjective, raw reactions are solid gold to an artist of any stripe After finishing House Flipper 2 I loves that the devs included pics of themselves and their pets, and sent an email to their community handle sayin so. Got a personal response within a week, and got to squee some more and hear some stories of development FROM A PROGRAMMER. Really cool, and you'll bolster the creator's confidence at the same time. Reachin out is scary, but that means there's someone Deeply Greatful on the other side when ya do the thing. They Know Its Scary, and you did it anyway. If you've got a creator or team of creators who make a thing you think of every day, just saying I Think Of This Every Day is a HUGE deal, and more valuable than you know ❤
It seems that all remakes are stories about unreliable storytellers. But in Daniel's case, these words are especially true, since Nikolai Dybovsky told a lot about the game in a recent interview. He literally revealed half of the plot and the mechanics😅
andy, won't you try a walkthrough for path2 in russian localisation. I think that wouid be kinda a different experince just because I am more that certain you don't expect to see familiar characters with new lokking voicelines. I'm really into seeing this. Just for the meme
Sick video man, I never played the original only the second one. Im a bit confused as to where the Bachelor and the Changeling differ from Barakhs purpose?
While gameplay in the original was mostly the same with a slight difference in rudimentary mechanics, they are now going all in in the remakes to make these mechanics stand out. These 3 characters had completely different perspectives on the same story. They were hanging out with different people, uncovering different mysteries, and drawing different conclusions, which you as a player would have to play all 3 to get the complete picture of what's really going on in the Town. Of course, their stories are often intertwined in a dramatic way, so the other 2 characters you don't play look completely stupid or even malicious with the knowledge you had as a character you play. Only to flip the story ones you play as the other character. A lot of events that seemed random at the first POV weren't exactly random once you got the different perspectives, either. As for the exact difference, the Bachelor is a man of mind. He's all about science, bacteria, and all that stuff. At first, he completely rejects any superstitions and mystical things and loses his mind with the Town savage tradition. As such, he can't even see the herbs as it hides from him, and of course, he had never met the Rat Prophet. The first and the only "miracle" he meets on a side quest on the day 10 or something, and still it's like a glimpse of Bigfoot from a distance he still can't believe and keeps rejecting. He hangs out with the Kains ruling family, which you barely interacted with as the Haruspex and will be completely deprived of as the Changeling. He got inside and learns the secrets (well, parts of it, as the other part is the Changeling story) of the Kain's biggest creation - the Polyhedron, which you can only look upon as the Haruspex. As such, the Bachelor got invested with the architect of the Polyhedron, too. He got invested in Eva's story, - this looney girl you spoke exactly once as the Haruspex on the way to the Bachelor office. He gets a different perspective on the Inquisitor and more invested with Yulia, the military, and the Theater. However, the full extent of these characters is revealed in the Changeling story. On the other hand, he is completely unaware of Souls-and-a-Halfs and all the children wars. You literally have zero interaction with these children in his play in the original. He has seldom and rather unpleasant interactions with the Kin, and the very moment he gets inside the Abattoir, he gets beaten to nearly death and never sets foot there again. As such, he doesn't even know the Abattoir chief's existence and never learns about underground under the Town. He barely interacted with Grief, actually worked with Rubin to develop the vaccine (the story Haruspex has only a little glimpse), and got a different perspective on Lara, the Haruspex never had time to learn. But even those were the public faces, as the personal depth of all 3 is, again, explored by the Changeling. And of course, as Haruspex, the Bachelor has as little interactions with Saburov family, graveyard, the mob, the "kin revolutionary", and Anna Angel, as this is mainly the Changeling perspective.
Danil Dankovsky, The Bachalor; Medicine is a science and, with sufficent study, humanity Can Obtain Immortality By Defeating Death Artemy Burdahk, The Haruspex; Medicine is a practice and art of humans ritualizing survival, as death is Core To Our Beings and none of us can live without dying. Death is Part Of Us, and need not be faught; mearly appeased until the day it cannot be denied. Clara, The Changeling; Death and Life are both miraculous, and require faith to understand. If you refuse to understand, you'll live your whole life in suffering confusion. Accept miracles, accept mystery, and Demand Hope when its nowhere to be found. Gameplay wise, Danil has rich friends who protect him and his reputation, keeping some of the worst survival mechanics Non Factors. Artemy is of the poor folk, native to the steppe, and cannot pretend away the blood spilt in the follies of the ruling class... so his reputation is always tanked and you p much can't exist in town without getting murdered on sight bt townsfolk. Clara is treated as a child, is harder to pilot in combat, and has her weapon selection limited based on Small Hands. All three are healers, but their baises and philosophy characterizes their gameplay start to finish
I haven't fully played through the games, but could "Unreliable narrator" be code for "There will be a sequel"? There seems to be a theme of retelling the story from different angles, and in both 2 and 3 they've mentioned that previous events weren't told exactly as they happened, could they be saying story in P3 might not be the whole truth leading to a follow up?
That was the whole point of 3 different perspectives in the original game. All 3 stories were half-truths, despite characters (and you as a player for these characters) being certain they had uncovered the only truth. Of course, there will be (or at least intended to be) a sequel to P3, as there's the Changeling story left to be retold.
Pathologic is genius, Pathologic 2 is the best gaming experience I've ever had, and Pathologic 3 looks like it will be just as good. I always praise Ice Pick Lodge as a games studio like no othdr but then I have to begrudgingly remind myself that Dybowski is (probably) a sex offender.
@@junjukerv1246"very credible". They are so credible, in fact, that as far as I was able to find all accusations were completely anonymous and with no proof
I think the time travel itself is the unreliable bit Maybe Path 3 is actually set after the events, and the whole game is just Daniil reliving the trauma in his mind, trying to fix his mistakes... while also being a game being played by children... while also being a game being played by me...
im a spanish speaking latin american and, iirc, its because the spanish speaking market tends to coalesce around pvp/online games while portuguese speakers have a stronger community around narrative driven games and brazil is a juggernaut. (also, and this is personal, spanish has so many dialects and accents i physically recoil when listening to mexican spanish or actual spain spanish. even the more neutral accents can sound weird while portuguese can be a bit more uniform)
I originally wanted this video to be out way sooner but things got in the way. Pay no attention to me starting the vid with "last week"
more like last month now lol

I hope the games visuals get changed slghtly towards more of that sickly yellow/greenish tone, rather than the colder blues we can see right now.
