You guys: PLEASE watch the "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story" mini-series. It's *sooooo* unspeakably great!!! And it really makes you view Charlotte's character (and her tragically beautiful relationship with the King) in an entirely new light throughout the rest of the main series. 🥹
A day in each city? Colin was gone for the entire summer season. Which was probably about 3-4 months. He’s not lying about travelling, but he’s rather putting on this new “player” personality because it’s what’s considered cool among the young noble men.

Why do you guys hate pen so much? Last season she outed Eloise’s less damaging scandal to save her from the more damaging one. Eloise can’t see that past her hurt but we can.
Eloise is so sheltered and entitled, and it’s honestly getting more apparent. In s1 she’d always throw a stray barb at daphne or act superior. She talks at Penelope and not with her, if you get my meaning. No one truly regards pen which is why whistledown has lasted so long. It’s not a good look that a friend cannot even humour the possibility that pen has the wit and similar writing style to be whistledown. I’m sure her and Eloise have exchanged letters and gossiped. She didn’t hear her voice in whistledown ever? You know, I think pen saying Colin (and in extension Eloise) is embarrassed by her may not be irrational. They are petty and care about the opinions of others. They take her for granted. I won’t say Eloise deserves hate and I love her for all her quirks. because I want characters to have flaws or little things about that that aren’t perfect. Everyone would be boring if everyone was just perfectly pleasant. Pen gets sooo overhated. Meanwhile she really is the kernel in the show that makes it all interesting. If pen had no fans then I’m dead. 💅 How amazing is she for a woman in her time to have a column in the news? Back then, women centred muckraking columns were a real thing and it was rather anonymous. Having her represent that history is interesting and to create a fortune from that meanwhile being constantly abused by the ton and ignored/neglected by her friends and family? To have that secret hold on them all? Phew, she’s that girl. She should be treated as an inspiration. She’s the history maker, like it or not. Everyone saying she is mean spirited or there could’ve been other options then outing marina and Eloise, I think it’s not that simple. in the end it all worked out. The glaring offence I suppose is the marina plot. It was lucky her man’s brother came through and collected her, but I honestly don’t know what would’ve happened to marina if she didn’t have that to fall back on. She was never about that life in the ton, anyway. They are all pompous so she dodged a bullet. I get why pen did it, because even if she did just tell the truth in private, the ton would not believe it, they would make the ball roll away like crazy and say Colin was the father and it was all an elaborate lie to cover the fact Colin compromised her before wedding her. It had to be public and from whistledown’s mouth. It’s not a great situation, but pen’s a teen girl with a unique situation in her hands.

@@tonystonem9614 the fatigue of that kind of one sidedness? I feel for pen always being the emotional support and validation for others. It feels like She’s just a cheerleader they enlist. I’m not saying it’s a horrible friendship between them all overall, but the communication is horrific. They no doubt have their moments and love for each other. The few moments Eloise and Colin try their best to protect or support pen in difficult moments are sweet. but pen is largely ignored and a second thought, generally. Colin lacks purpose and felt really good in knowing he can fill this protector role for pen during the whole cousin jack stuff. Eloise seems the only person that was concerned for pen when Colin left and her father died. Those gestures are appreciated. But…it’s just the surface level way they talk at Penelope. They just talk about themselves ad nauseam. I had a friend like that for years. If something hard happened with her I’d bring food over and check in, I’d make personal gifts for birthdays, I’d listen to her talk about whatever at me and I dare not disagree with anything because she’d get disgruntled similar to Eloise. It was draining and when my mental health suffered or I needed to talk to someone it almost felt like she looked down on me for it. Don’t think Eloise is that bad, and she’ll come through in the end, but it’s not a good sign that I was reminded sm of this empty friendship I had.
You guys mentioned the balloon: I mean… I personally don’t know anyone who liked that scene (it was WAY too much even for this show) but I’m curious what you guys (and the rest of the comment section) think about it
I think if they had made more explicit that Pen got distracted thirsting over Colin's arms or had her trip and fall sooner instead of just standing there it'd have been better. Or if they had Debling actually attempt pushing her out of the way. Still, flight or freeze, right? It's a silly scene, but I don't mind it much

Though, in fairness, it wasn’t just the balloon thing itself. It was the whole scene that felt like it was from a different show to me and that’s why I couldn’t really get behind it
I’m hoping they’re watching QC as fast as they can before part 2 of season 3 drops. So far QC’s storylines haven’t really affected season 3 too much. So far it’s just light Violet Bridgeton beats, but I imagine that will ramp up in part 2, so again with any luck, the crew can catch up before part 2 drops.

I came here for the specific purpose of saying, "Wait! You have to watch Queen Charlotte first!" because there are some side stories that take place in between seasons 2 and 3, even though the vast majority of the show is 50 years earlier. It wasn't clear, but I think the crew was saying they HAVE seen it, they just haven't released their reactions yet.
I remember being shocked when I saw you guys were reviewing Bridgerton, but ultimately thrilled. It's so common to get many thoughts from women on these types of shows that it's really nice to get men's perspectives too. Looking forward to seeing your reactions to the rest of the season.

So excited for this!!! I love that you guys watch this show and seem to genuinely enjoy it! This season we’re getting, as the romance fans would call, friends to lovers story!
Hannah Dodd is the new actress playing Francesca. It’s her first season. The previous actress was only in a few episodes in season 1 and 2 and the character was off “learning piano”.
Even if Bridgerton ain’t ur thing. You gotta have an appreciation for the production. The costumes, set designs have some talented and passionate people working on them. Even if I’m not intrigued by the plot I’m just looking the dresses & suits, the architecture even the flowers got my attention. Don’t even get me started on the hair. Plots aside everything envolved in the show is an art piece. Fun fact: the piano in the Bridgerton home is an authentic 300 y/o piano that needs to be tuned by a professional every day because it’s such a delicate piece.
For me it’s 50/50. I’m really impressed by a lot of prop, production and sweet choices, choreography, way of speaking and specific details to the era. And then they make some very obvious or lazy mistakes that drive me insane (e.g. almost anything having to do with live music) 😄
Colin did travel, the thing that Whistledown and even Eloise pointed out is correct, he seems to be showing off and trying to show himself in a certain way that is so uncharasteritically him that you can't help but wonder if he is being thruthful, and you were also right, he keeps looking for soemthing, his purpose which is something that is being carried from past seasons this is definitely Pen and Colin's story, since they are already friends and Pen is kinda giving up on Colin and deciding to marry, I'm really looking forward to your reactions!

The book storyline order is: Daphne, Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Eloise, Francesca, Hyacinth, & Gregory. So far the TV storyline order has been: Daphne, Anthony, & Colin.
I agree that Benedict is next but I’m not sure on the next ones after that since, in both Francesca and Eloise’s stories, two sad things happen to make those stories work…unless they do a time jump forward.
@@JaneseCarstens they would have all of Benedict's season to set up Eloise for the following season, and then Francesca would be in the background for both seasons, her story progressing. They already time jumped with Colin, so that isn't a big deal. Francesca's story has the one year, then a major event, then four years before the next major event, they can easily have that first major event happen next season and then the four years becomes one during Eloise's season, setting up her story for season 6. The event that starts things in motion for Eloise could happen at the end of this season or the beginning of next, with her doing background stuff during Benedict's story like she did during Colin's for the book.
I love it that you guys react to this show. Trust me, I'm a huge Marvel, Star Wars, fantasy and science fiction fan but I like watching shows like Bridgerton too. When I'm done watching a crazy episode of the Xmen I go and watch other types of drama 😅

Having read the books it makes complete sense that they have a little focus on Francesca. I can’t say much more without giving spoilers (however vague it may be). Essentially what happens with her character this season will be essential background information for her season.

I think Eloise actually kind of agrees with LW about Colin. She basically said the same thing to him herself. She's still angry about being thrown under the bus last season. Over the summer, Cressida was the only person besides her family that would talk to her. She's still angsty about marriage even though she's giving in a bit. She misses her BFF, but she still feels the betrayal big time.
Makes it even more better knowing how close Nicola Coughlan (Penelope) Luke Newton(colin) really are they even said themselves they loved doing scenes together and felt safe with each other they said it was nice having them be Friends first it made it more comfortable for them when they did the romantic scenes if you watch there interviews there so adorable

I've always had compassion for the "unlikable" characters, Lady Featherington and Cressida, because this is not an easy society to live in as a woman. It's fine if you have a husband, brother, father, or son that has your best interests at heart, but the Bridgertons are the ONLY family in this show that have that. So it's obvious, even without that heroic moment that Lady F got last season or the more details we're learning about Cressida this season that they are TERRIFIED of the future because they have so little control of it. I actually HATE the cliche of pretty much every TV show out there that it takes freaking forever for a couple to get together. And then if they do, it's a dumb on/off thing. I wish it was more common to have shows where the couple gets together in the first season, and then they tackle life together for the rest of the show, maybe have some marital issues in the meantime, but ultimately they are in it together for life. Outlander is literally the only show I can think of that has that. Bridgerton has the potential for that, if they were willing to put the effort in to come up with some kind of drama that Simon and Daphne or Anthony and Kate could tackle. It was supposed to be this huge accomplishment that Daphne married a Duke and put her in a place of prestige in society, but she's barely been IN society since she got married. And I know they don't want to go this route because they want us to still like both Kate and Violet, but realistically and historically, it causes drama when a dowager has to step aside in favor of her new daughter-in-law. Even today some mothers have a hard time when their sons marry. Game of Thrones actually got that right when Cersei felt so threatened by Margaery swooping into King's Landing to marry her sons. Not that I expect Violet to blow up a church, but a more realistic story line would be Kate starting to make subtle changes to the house, menu, etc. and that really rattling Violet because she's had things her way for 30 years. It then could escalate to her taking out walls and getting rid of beloved paintings or furniture. The novel Agnes Grey by Anne Bronte has a side character of a new young wife wasn't sure how she wanted to run her new household, so she just let her mother-in-law keep things her way, but then once she decided she wanted things her way, the dynamic had already been established that the dowager still had control, and the not-as-new wife couldn't get the control back. So it was kind of a warning to get your mother-in-law out of your house when you marry. (Anne Bronte was a somewhat didactic writer that felt that all of her works should have some sort of moral lesson or warning.)
Violet would move to the dower house that's already on the country estate and get her own house in London. In the books, Violet was quite insistent about taking another house for her and the children. The show likes to keep them to that house as long as possible, I suspect.
@@HuntingViolets Haha, you're probably right. The show already spends so much money on the sets, costumes, props. etc. It would have been a huge undertaking to establish another "Bridgerton house" set where Violet and the children live.

And when Anthony and Kate have children, they may even have Violet stay on then (this wouldn't actually be a terrible thing -- the generational family living model can have several positives). I suspect K&A will be offscreen a lot even though technically still there as the focus is on everyone else.

So excited for this!!! I love that you guys watch this show and seem to genuinely enjoy it! This season we’re getting, as the romance fans would call, friends to lovers story!
Hannah Dodd is the new actress playing Francesca. It’s her first season. The previous actress was only in a few episodes in season 1 and 2 and the character was off “learning piano”.

Even if Bridgerton ain’t ur thing. You gotta have an appreciation for the production. The costumes, set designs have some talented and passionate people working on them. Even if I’m not intrigued by the plot I’m just looking the dresses & suits, the architecture even the flowers got my attention. Don’t even get me started on the hair. Plots aside everything envolved in the show is an art piece.
Fun fact: the piano in the Bridgerton home is an authentic 300 y/o piano that needs to be tuned by a professional every day because it’s such a delicate piece.
For me it’s 50/50. I’m really impressed by a lot of prop, production and sweet choices, choreography, way of speaking and specific details to the era. And then they make some very obvious or lazy mistakes that drive me insane (e.g. almost anything having to do with live music) 😄

Colin did travel, the thing that Whistledown and even Eloise pointed out is correct, he seems to be showing off and trying to show himself in a certain way that is so uncharasteritically him that you can't help but wonder if he is being thruthful, and you were also right, he keeps looking for soemthing, his purpose which is something that is being carried from past seasons this is definitely Pen and Colin's story, since they are already friends and Pen is kinda giving up on Colin and deciding to marry, I'm really looking forward to your reactions!

The siblings by order of age from oldest to youngest are: Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, & Hyacinth.
The book storyline order is: Daphne, Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Eloise, Francesca, Hyacinth, & Gregory.
So far the TV storyline order has been: Daphne, Anthony, & Colin.
And I think the order of the next three seasons will Benedict, Eloise, Francesca.
I agree that Benedict is next but I’m not sure on the next ones after that since, in both Francesca and Eloise’s stories, two sad things happen to make those stories work…unless they do a time jump forward.
@@JaneseCarstens they would have all of Benedict's season to set up Eloise for the following season, and then Francesca would be in the background for both seasons, her story progressing. They already time jumped with Colin, so that isn't a big deal. Francesca's story has the one year, then a major event, then four years before the next major event, they can easily have that first major event happen next season and then the four years becomes one during Eloise's season, setting up her story for season 6. The event that starts things in motion for Eloise could happen at the end of this season or the beginning of next, with her doing background stuff during Benedict's story like she did during Colin's for the book.

I love it that you guys react to this show. Trust me, I'm a huge Marvel, Star Wars, fantasy and science fiction fan but I like watching shows like Bridgerton too. When I'm done watching a crazy episode of the Xmen I go and watch other types of drama 😅

Not to spoil too much, but the Francesca B plot is necessary for her eventually being the main character in her own season (assuming Netflix has 8 seasons in mind.)
Since a few of these books take place at the same time, they could double up a little and cut out some of the other subplots.
They had to recast Francesca because the original actress was a main character on another Nefflix show, which unfortunately has now been cancelled.

Having read the books it makes complete sense that they have a little focus on Francesca. I can’t say much more without giving spoilers (however vague it may be). Essentially what happens with her character this season will be essential background information for her season.

@@justKOZM as a non-book reader, i personally believe benedict might be next while they could MAYBE explore elessida (though i dont see it) and then it'll be eloise's turn, with enough time having passed for marina to d word. also francessca might get married either by the end of this season or beginning of next one and we'll get to her story after eloise's of course.
p.s. also idk why but i have this strange feeling that tilly arnold is gonna turn out to be Sophie's step mother. but to be fair idk what the step mother's name is in the books

I think Eloise actually kind of agrees with LW about Colin. She basically said the same thing to him herself. She's still angry about being thrown under the bus last season. Over the summer, Cressida was the only person besides her family that would talk to her. She's still angsty about marriage even though she's giving in a bit. She misses her BFF, but she still feels the betrayal big time.

Luke Newton(colin) really are they even said themselves they loved doing scenes together and felt safe with each other they said it was nice having them be Friends first it made it more comfortable for them when they did the romantic scenes if you watch there interviews there so adorable

I've always had compassion for the "unlikable" characters, Lady Featherington and Cressida, because this is not an easy society to live in as a woman. It's fine if you have a husband, brother, father, or son that has your best interests at heart, but the Bridgertons are the ONLY family in this show that have that. So it's obvious, even without that heroic moment that Lady F got last season or the more details we're learning about Cressida this season that they are TERRIFIED of the future because they have so little control of it.
I actually HATE the cliche of pretty much every TV show out there that it takes freaking forever for a couple to get together. And then if they do, it's a dumb on/off thing. I wish it was more common to have shows where the couple gets together in the first season, and then they tackle life together for the rest of the show, maybe have some marital issues in the meantime, but ultimately they are in it together for life. Outlander is literally the only show I can think of that has that. Bridgerton has the potential for that, if they were willing to put the effort in to come up with some kind of drama that Simon and Daphne or Anthony and Kate could tackle. It was supposed to be this huge accomplishment that Daphne married a Duke and put her in a place of prestige in society, but she's barely been IN society since she got married.
And I know they don't want to go this route because they want us to still like both Kate and Violet, but realistically and historically, it causes drama when a dowager has to step aside in favor of her new daughter-in-law. Even today some mothers have a hard time when their sons marry. Game of Thrones actually got that right when Cersei felt so threatened by Margaery swooping into King's Landing to marry her sons. Not that I expect Violet to blow up a church, but a more realistic story line would be Kate starting to make subtle changes to the house, menu, etc. and that really rattling Violet because she's had things her way for 30 years. It then could escalate to her taking out walls and getting rid of beloved paintings or furniture. The novel Agnes Grey by Anne Bronte has a side character of a new young wife wasn't sure how she wanted to run her new household, so she just let her mother-in-law keep things her way, but then once she decided she wanted things her way, the dynamic had already been established that the dowager still had control, and the not-as-new wife couldn't get the control back. So it was kind of a warning to get your mother-in-law out of your house when you marry. (Anne Bronte was a somewhat didactic writer that felt that all of her works should have some sort of moral lesson or warning.)
Violet would move to the dower house that's already on the country estate and get her own house in London. In the books, Violet was quite insistent about taking another house for her and the children. The show likes to keep them to that house as long as possible, I suspect.
@@HuntingViolets Haha, you're probably right. The show already spends so much money on the sets, costumes, props. etc. It would have been a huge undertaking to establish another "Bridgerton house" set where Violet and the children live.
@@MeyaRoseGirl Yes, I'm sure they'll put it off as long as they can. And when Anthony and Kate have children, they may even have Violet stay on then (this wouldn't actually be a terrible thing -- the generational family living model can have several positives). I suspect K&A will be offscreen a lot even though technically still there as the focus is on everyone else.

watched a lot of reaction vids to bridgerton and this is by far my fave. the way they break down the details and the story and the characters! they really are into it and not just in it for the spicy scenes or looking for the sexually charged tension every step of the way like the other reactors do
