3:23 Dude, it's the Ferengi. Exactly what else were you expecting here? Edit: If you find it offensive, feel free to contact your local branch of the Dominion War Veterans of Earth. I'm sure they'll know what to do.
Maybe my expectations for this episodes were too high but i felt very underwhelmed by it. The potential of visiting Ferenginar again and having the original voices of Leela a Rom gave them the perfect opportunity to make this a fantastic episode. Instead of showing us more of the Ferengi culture they kept it quite shallow. Almost as if they were afraid of adding any additional lore. Also the voice of Rom felt "wrong" in a way that i almost didnt event believe it was the same person voicing him. All in all this was the worst episode of this season for me.
What are you talking about? We got to watch Ferengi TV! We saw their public libraries and their Dominion War memorial! We met their surprisingly polite biker gangs! How does that not count as "more of Ferengi culture"?
I re-watched the episode yesterday and regret some of the points in my comment. Their way of showing us Ferenginar was pretty well done. The Quality of this episode was on par with the previous ones in this season. @@Brasswatchman
Its hilarious, the self aware joke series is more star trek than the big budget dreg Kurtzman keeps pumping out. LD remains a bright spot in the dark void between galaxies.
This is the first episode of Lower Decks that *I didn't crack even a smile* . Rom written as completely idiot, Leeta as... wtf was that, all the dinner scene with Rutherford and Tendi was a mess. Maybe it's me but I think was a missed potential in this.
I'm sure in the future that Rutherford and Tendi will finally confess their feelings 💖for each other and be a couple for real.
Presumably the title of this episode is a play on 'Garth Marenghi's Darkplace', the dark comedy UK Channel 4 TV series from the early 2000s.
It was nice seeing ROM and Leeta after all this time.
7:04 That's the thing, though. He wasn't dumb. He was *playing* dumb to give Leeta an opening, as Freeman correctly pointed out.
This episode makes me miss Nog (may Aron Eisenberg rest in peace).
Yeah, a Nog nod would have been appreciated.
The mariner subplot did give us detail that she is repressing something.
5:53 Hey, that's a good one. No judgment here. 😆
They mentioned stim bolts!
Dear Trek Central, do you plan to do some coverage of the new Star Trek Infinite coming on this Thursday (October 12)?

I so thought Rom was going to get the DS9 season 1 treatment the whole episode.
Anyone else find it weird that Ferenginar place signs are all in English?
Chalk it up to either translation convention or this particular area being aimed at Federation tourists.

Did you even watch the episode? Rom wasn't dumb, he was PLAYING dumb. He and Leeta have clearly leveled up as negotiators.
@@BrasswatchmanTHANK YOU, he even praises Captain Freeman for seeing through his and Leeta's ruse!
