Just bought the guide and I'm scanning it at the minute. Do you need to carry your passport around Korea for any reason? e.g. to avoid paying Tax, for ID at bars, anything else? Or is carrying a driving license enough
Hi Megan! I’m sitting in Korea right now for the first time - your videos and guides have been incredibly helpful in getting thru everything! Just wanted to let you know I appreciate your resources a lot!

Thanks to this channel, I was over-prepared when I arrived in Korea today. I didn’t need the K-ETA, like Megan said. And they aren’t even checking Q Code anymore. The only things I needed to show were my passport and the arrival card, so it’s still important to know the address and phone number of your hotel.

I had to come and leave a comment, I went to Seoul during the pandemic for a study abroad so you would think that I wouldn't be nervous to visit Seoul again. Not the case! I get really nervous and this time I am going alone and, I just wanted to say thank you for your video! It has eased my anxiety and helped me to prepare! And of course, I'll be watching more of your videos!!
Hi Megan, I arrived in Seoul 2 weeks ago. I knew I didn’t need K-eta or Q-Code, but I had both. I’m glad I did because all I had to do was show my passport to the official. No questions asked, just finger prints taken and then I just walked out and down to the train. No forms to complete on arrival. Others on my flight from Australia were madly completing the yellow health form. This is my second trip and has been challenging with the heat, but I have noticed a lot more tourists than were here 11 years ago.
Megan, we just came from our 11 day trip to Korea. I got a CC with no international fees, thanks for the advice. We ate at the Tteokbokki place you recommended (I bought the foodie guide before leaving). It was really good and although the staff was not very helpful, the other customers were. A couple of college students helped us with the ‘how to’. We enjoyed it and had a nice time. Thank you for your advice on the T-card and the subway system. We used the Subway daily with no issues. We really enjoyed Seoul and Jeju. We will have to go back to continue exploring South Korea! Thank you for all the advice! It was very helpful. We almost melt everyday, but we enjoyed all of it!

Hello Megan. I watched a lot of your videos before taking my trip in May 2023. Thanks for all the directions and advice. The only quirky thing that happened was actually in the US when trying to depart from Logan airport in Boston. Although I had already filled out the K-ETA, and was approved, Logan required I show them a hard copy. Of course, I left the hard copy at home because Korea didn't require it. I did have the screen shot on my phone but what a pain to email it to the luggage supervisor so he could print it off.
Hi, Megan! I just returned from being in Korea for the World Scout Jamboree. Thanks for your advice on getting a cc with 0 international fees and getting the TMoney card. KakaoT was so helpful with getting a taxi.
i saw this video 2 days before my flight to korea n at first i was like, OH MY GOD MORE DOCUMENTS? it's just my first trip n im really nervous thank you for explaining everything, im glad that i have absolutely everything n even more ahahha, thank you for my confidence!
just to add, singapore passports are able to use the self automated machines too😊. i’m not sure about other countries passport holders and do not bring any fresh fruits/ produces even if it’s for own consumer or it will get confiscated 😅
That's good to know! I'm flying to seoul in November. Do you happen to know if it would it be safe to store dry food like Kaya spread and crackers in the luggage (meant as a gift for my Korean friend). 😊
Just came back from korea a few days ago .. when i arrived in the Airport Terminal 1 i had my Q-Code ready but it was never asked for so im guessing its finished now . Super simple to get in , Finger printed picked luggage Done .
When I went in April they had JUST stop the KETA, after we had already paid for it. 😑 And then it was about 3 hours to get through customs. We were not given the form to fill out. We just saw them on the way. Me and another guy who was on my flight happened to grab one, because we didn't really know if we needed them or not. So grateful we did! After waiting a couple of hours I would have hated to have to go through that long line again! fun fun.... But that was really about the only truly awful part of my trip!
Things have DEFINITELY changed since then! I’m really sorry to hear your experience was like this though… this spring/summer was the highest tourism has ever been in Korea so I’m sure that didn’t help 😔 Hopefully the rest of your trip made it worth it! 🫂♥️✨ For others: Customs has only been taking about 10-20 minutes these days and a lot of that is walking. You can fill out the Q-Code in advance if you want the chance of going through the line faster (some for K-ETA but I don’t think it’s worth paying money for - you’ll still be in the same line as everyone else).
No mention of the Q-code... but just read an advisory effective July 15, 2023 that it is no longer needed. Not sure though if it is just country specific.
Me and and my girlfriend took a 3 day trip to Fukuoka to extend my time in Korea after 90 days during a recent visit. When I admitted this to the US customs officer upon returning to the States, he was incredulous. Lecturing me about how you can't leave to go to Cancun and reenter the States to reset a tourist visa. Well, fortunately not every country is as restrictive as our customs is! Seriously, I have always found the South Korean customs people to be incredibly chill compared to US customs.
Wow… crazy experience 🥺 Korean customs can be chill but I don’t recommend ever needing to go to the Korean embassy (those workers are no joke). So don’t overstay your visa or make any jokes with them 😅
Hi, thank you so much for the amazing summary! I would just like to confirm, to be extra sure: if I’m not from any of the countries that are currently exempt from the KEta visa, do I still need to fill it in or can I just fill in the travel card handed out in the plane?
Hi Megan, We'll be traveling to Seoul in October from CA and would love to see your update on how to travel by taxi or subway from Inchon IAP to Seoul. Great content.
So exciting! October is beautiful~ Safe travels!! 😍 I explain everything about taxis, buses and subways in detail (with pictures) in my airport guide: ko-fi.com/s/360972b2c3 Downloading this is also a way to support my channel and I promise, it’s worth it! ☺️🫂✨
Hi Megan, I love your video it was so helpful! I have a question about the Q-code, is that still required for US Citizens? I saw on some websites that is it not but I want to be 100%, I will be traveling there at the end of the month
I willalso be travelling for the first time in mid Septmeber! The Q-Code part confuses me too and tbh I'd rather have it than have a unpleasqnt surprise. Howwas your journey to Korea ? Did you arrive well ❤
Hi Megan! I was referred by someone to your videos! I have seen plenty of them. Thank you for all the helpful information. I will be in Korea very soon, end of September. Questions so do I still need the QR and also what is a cc?
Update : Arrival Card is a must to fill in ( get from flight staff or near the immigration counter . Q code ( walk through health check checkpoint and they didnt ask for it), Custom declaration form unless you are required.
Hi Megan new subscriber here. So happy I found your channel. I'm going to Seoul in Dec and researching the entry requirements. So no more KETA and Q code to fill out in advance? Please let me know if there's anything I need to prepare in advance. Thank you
Hi Megan!! Thanks for the great video :) I'm going to SK next week so it's really helpful! But something I've been really confused about is wether I need to declare any of my goods or not, because I wanted to take my prescribed medication with me. The information online has been really hard to understand for me.
do you have any recommendations for eating in the airport?? I am a transfer I guess as Korea is not my final stop but I do have several hours. Just looking for some authentic food. Havent found a good video yet for that. Thank you for your videos.
Hi Megan! This was so useful, on the arrival card what do you write as your address (of where you are staying) if you are staying at more than one location? Thanks! :))
I just purchased your airport, travel guide, thank you for all the GREAT information! Quick question, do you suggest buying a Sims card or the Wi-Fi egg? We will be going to Vietnam and Thailand as well. Thank you in advance.
Hi, I don’t have anything to say about SIM cards because my phone wasn’t paid off when I went to Korea (and couldn’t get a sim easily), so I used the wifi egg. It was great, fast, and let me share with 1-3 other people at a time. I shared with a friend and we just brought it with us in bags everywhere. O inconvenience is if you have to split up, one of you wouldn’t have service. But if you feel safe and make plans on where to meet at it’s not a big deal. Haha. To rent it, I used trazy. It sometimes turns off randomly even when properly charged so just try turning it back on again. I recommend it. It’s also super easy to return in the airport! Just go to the counter. Consider taking a photo of you returning it. Other users recommended that because they were concerned it doesn’t appear that the company has a good enough paper trail of returns so you might get charged extra time if someone makes a mistake. I didn’t have any issues and I have a feeling they just check it at the end of the night and have a list of who had which device number.
I’m so glad it’s been helpful!! I listed my recommendations in the description box of this video and in my airport guide but here are the links~ SIM Card: www.trazy.com/experience/detail/korea-sim-card-international-shipping-service?ref=MO1226&label=SimCard&ad_id=5285) Wi-fi Egg: bit.ly/3EnbOa7 eSIM: bit.ly/3Cmy2Hl Maybe eSIM would be great because you can have it all on your phone for the different countries! Safe travels 🫂♥️✨
@@KcKc13 thank you so much for your in-depth response, I think that’s what we’ll do. Do you know if you can use the same egg if you travel to Vietnam and Thailand? Or do I have to get a new one for each country?
imma travel to Korea on the 18th of october. planning on staying for a month. Thanks so much for this. Calms my nerves. Anyway if I am not sure when I'm leaving. might be 4 weeks or 8 weeks if I really like it, would they mind at the desk were they ask you questions? I guess that is for giving you the visum right so they need an exact date when you leave... How does this work cause i'm not sure.
Hi, we will be in SK in October…landing in Seoul, but only as a stopover for about 2 hrs and then the plane goes to Busan. I don’t think we are supposed to leave the terminal. Do we need to go thru the same process in ICN, including customs, even if we are not supposed to exit the airport in Seoul? I’m curious if we need to go through security again, in order to get on our Busan flight. Please advise. BTW, great job on the transportation series! Thanks!
Hi Megan! I will be landing into Gimpo Airport in Seoul from Japan next January and I am wondering if the immigration process is similar to the one in Incheon? Thank you very much for the help!
Hey, Megan! Thank you for a wonderful video. I am travelling to Seoul soon and I am very worried about the custom process. Are there any updates about the QR health declaration form?
I've been there often recently. I do the q-code ahead of time each time. I still fill out the arrival card on the plane (just in case). But in my experience, the immigrations officers have never asked me for it in addition to scanning my q-code. They only took it from me on my first trip there (when quarantine was still a thing).
Yeah - they haven’t asked about it in a while (but a few months ago it was mandatory). But it’s such an easy document to fill out quickly - it’s kind of like… why not! Safe travels ☺️✨
Thanks for the tips!! I love your videos ❤ they are super helpful!!! 😊. Q: my friends and I are going to Korea for the first time coming from US at the end of Sept. We fly to Jeju with a layover at Seoul, but flying out of Gimpo to get to Jeju. Does Jeju require anything that you may know of that we’ll need prior to arrival? And another dumb question sorry, but am I safe to assume our check-in luggage will be transferred during that layover or do we need to grab it before we head to Gimpo and re-check it in again?
No dumb questions!! ☺️ If you have a question then someone else probably has it too and that makes you smart for thinking of it 🫂♥️✨ *Anywhere in Korea to Jeju, from my understanding, has no requirements! It’s entering the country that matters. But please check the immigration website for updates on everything! *When you enter a country you usually have to get your bags re-checked. I am not sure if they will do this for you or if you will have to do this yourself. When I transferred through Seoul I don’t remember rechecking my bags but things may have changed. However, there will be signs that clearly say “transfer”, just make sure you’re going to the right one (transfers in Korea). Also, when you check-in for your first flight, you can ask them this question and they will tell you if you need to re-check the bag yourself or not. Safe travels ☺️✨

Hi, Megan! I just returned from being in Korea for the World Scout Jamboree. Thanks for your advice on getting a cc with 0 international fees and getting the TMoney card. KakaoT was so helpful with getting a taxi.
I’m so glad I could help! Hope you had a wonderful trip … and didn’t get too… too hot 😅😩🫂✨
That is a video I would love to see World scout Jamborees!
LOL...I felt like I was roasting at SaeManGeum. When I got back to the US, 33C didn't seem so horrible.😅@@MeganOsten

just to add, singapore passports are able to use the self automated machines too😊. i’m not sure about other countries passport holders and do not bring any fresh fruits/ produces even if it’s for own consumer or it will get confiscated 😅
That's good to know! I'm flying to seoul in November. Do you happen to know if it would it be safe to store dry food like Kaya spread and crackers in the luggage (meant as a gift for my Korean friend). 😊
i'll fly to Korea in 3 days to study there for one semester. The timing couldn't have been better!
AHHH!! So exciting 😍🫂✨ I know you’re probably a mix of emotions but safe travels and Korea is waiting for you 🤭♥️
Oh! And safe travels!!! 🤭
thanks for the "including Guam". Very much appreciated. we're planning on joining a group tour in October or November .
Happy to help in anyway I can! Hope to see you in Seoul ☺️✨
Welcome Welcome!
Just came back from korea a few days ago .. when i arrived in the Airport Terminal 1 i had my Q-Code ready but it was never asked for so im guessing its finished now . Super simple to get in , Finger printed picked luggage Done .
Thank you for this video, I always like to be prepared so videos like these are perfect. Also great to know that it should be easy.
You’re so welcome! Thank you for leaving a comment to help support my channel as well 🫂♥️✨ Safe travels and have a wonderful trip!!
Wonderful job on providing images that provide context to what you are saying! Love your editing!❤❤
Awww thank you so much!! 🥹🫂♥️✨ Happy to help~
For others: Customs has only been taking about 10-20 minutes these days and a lot of that is walking. You can fill out the Q-Code in advance if you want the chance of going through the line faster (some for K-ETA but I don’t think it’s worth paying money for - you’ll still be in the same line as everyone else).
Hey Meg nice to hear from you. Thanks for the update info❤
Happy to finally get another video up 🤪🤭 More to come! 🫂♥️✨
I want to go someday. I’ve never gone abroad by myself and it’s very daunting. I wish I could travel with someone.
No mention of the Q-code... but just read an advisory effective July 15, 2023 that it is no longer needed. Not sure though if it is just country specific.
I love you Megan; you’re the best 🎉
You are the best..Many Thanks!
So helpful thank you!
This is great, thank you! We will be there in about a week!
AHHH!!! So exciting 😍✨ Safe travels! 🫂♥️
@@MeganOsten Thank you!
the Arrival card is a must . What about Q-code ( health declaration form) and Custom declaration form? Tks
So don’t overstay your visa or make any jokes with them 😅
Got it. Thanks@@MeganOsten
this video helped me a lot, thank you!
I'm so glad! You’re very welcome ☺️🫂✨
😍 I explain everything about taxis, buses and subways in detail (with pictures) in my airport guide: ko-fi.com/s/360972b2c3
Downloading this is also a way to support my channel and I promise, it’s worth it! ☺️🫂✨
Thank you for this! Is Q-Code still a thing?
Yes, I was wondering the same. I have tickets for October and was told Q code is necessary. When do I do it?
@@MyBelchi did it before hand but they just asked for your arrival card and passeport aha
@@MyBelchapply for q code 72hrs before your flight.
thx@@lunahya515
@@lunahya515 great, thank you!
Thank you for the updates, Megan. ❤
You’re so welcome 🥹♥️✨
(Thank you for leaving a comment to help my channel 🥹🫂)
Update : Arrival Card is a must to fill in ( get from flight staff or near the immigration counter . Q code ( walk through health check checkpoint and they didnt ask for it), Custom declaration form unless you are required.
I read that the KETA exemption is only until the end of this year.
Hi Megan new subscriber here. So happy I found your channel. I'm going to Seoul in Dec and researching the entry requirements. So no more KETA and Q code to fill out in advance? Please let me know if there's anything I need to prepare in advance. Thank you
Thank you so much for this!!! We are going in October for the first time, I’m super excited and cannot wait! 🫰🏻
I’m so excited for you 😍🫂✨

@@MeganOsten Thank you! i got 79 more days to plan. :)
Hi Megan!! Thanks for the great video :) I'm going to SK next week so it's really helpful!
But something I've been really confused about is wether I need to declare any of my goods or not, because I wanted to take my prescribed medication with me. The information online has been really hard to understand for me.
This is so helpful thank you!!
You’re so welcome and I’m so happy to hear this 🥹🫂♥️✨
thank you so much for this video.😁
You're very welcome! ☺️🫂✨
do you have any recommendations for eating in the airport?? I am a transfer I guess as Korea is not my final stop but I do have several hours. Just looking for some authentic food. Havent found a good video yet for that. Thank you for your videos.
@1:15 +Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries, k-eta not required. 90 days stay period.
Hi Megan, love your videos. Do you know why if coming from The Philippines or China, they have a separate line? Thanks
Hi Megan! This was so useful, on the arrival card what do you write as your address (of where you are staying) if you are staying at more than one location? Thanks! :))
I think the most important is the adress if your first arrival stay .
What if you changed your mind. So it's easy as that
I just purchased your airport, travel guide, thank you for all the GREAT information!
I listed my recommendations in the description box of this video and in my airport guide but here are the links~
SIM Card: www.trazy.com/experience/detail/korea-sim-card-international-shipping-service?ref=MO1226&label=SimCard&ad_id=5285)
Wi-fi Egg: bit.ly/3EnbOa7
eSIM: bit.ly/3Cmy2Hl
Maybe eSIM would be great because you can have it all on your phone for the different countries! Safe travels 🫂♥️✨
@@KcKc13 thank you so much for your in-depth response, I think that’s what we’ll do. Do you know if you can use the same egg if you travel to Vietnam and Thailand? Or do I have to get a new one for each country?
@@MeganOsten Thanks Megan! Your videos are making me sooo excited to visit! 🥰
imma travel to Korea on the 18th of october. planning on staying for a month.
Thanks!
Hey Megan, have you stopped your on line travel consultations? I don't see any open days on your calendar.
Hi Megan, I'll be traveling to S. Korea next week and wondered if the Arrival Card need to fill out one per family or one per person? Thanks!
Don’t worry! It’s very easy these days ☺️♥️🫂 no codes of any kind if you don’t want to! It’ll go very smoothly ✨
Just to confirm that i dont need a q-code now? Thanks.❤
☺️ If you have a question then someone else probably has it too and that makes you smart for thinking of it 🫂♥️✨
*Anywhere in Korea to Jeju, from my understanding, has no requirements!
@@MeganOsten you are amazing! I honestly didn’t expect a reply let alone so quickly! ☺️. I do travel a lot to other countries as well but this Korea one I’m so excited it’s throwing me off. Lol. I will check the immigration website as you suggested and great idea about asking the flight attendant on the first leg, will do that as well. Again much appreciated on the timely response and advice. You’re truly a kind person and I really enjoy your videos!! Keep posting and be safe 🫶💖
Howzit. Thx for tips. Last time i went korea i went to dmz freedom bridge and tunnels. Panmunjom was closed. Who do you recommend for cheapest easiest way to go see jsa/panmunjom? Thx for any info
Hi Megan, you noted COVID-19 testing upon entry isn’t currently required, however is there any vaccination requirements or obligation to report vaccination status?
Nothing of the sorts is required at this moment ☺️✨
Hi Megan, is there wifi at the airport? I’m coming in from the United States so I’ll need connection to reach the people I’ll be staying with 😌
But Keta free countries are only this years. Next year its obligate
Hi Megan! If I have a US passport but flying in from Manila, Philippines would I go in the Philippines line or the US line upon arrival?
PS your videos have helped me so much prep for my upcoming trip! ❤
There's no US line. We're not that special.
how was ur experience? did you just have to go through the "foreign passport" line? im in the same situation 😂
@@AshVlogs0515 Hey! I ended up in the general “foreigner passport” line. It was super quick for me, the airport wasn’t too crowded when my plane landed :) Hope this helps and excited for your upcoming trip!
@@yawnuhreyzhi i’m also flying to SK from Philippines, I also have a US passport (dual citizen), should I only present my US passport in the check in counter? Will they ask questions? Thank you for the reply
So Megan No Q code for quarantine?
Not necessary but filling it out could speed-up you customs process! ☺️

@@MeganOsten thanks for all your videos. We are spending 2 weeks in mid September. Your videos have really helped our nerves.
Hi Megan, Can i extend the 90 day limit by flying to japan on day 59 for 2 days and flying back for additional 90 day tourist stay?
Yep! You could ☺️ (as long as you’re from a country that is given 90 days - check the immigration website to see how many days you are allowed to stay)
Is QCode still required?
Hi! So I'm from the US so that means I need the K-ETA right? Also, do we get the arrival card on the plane or is there a place we have to get it?
I really recommend you watch my updated video!!
