  • 2 PART VIDEO. HOW TO SING LIKE VIDEO ON CHRIS CORNELL AND J BON JOVI.
    What I would like to get across in this video is only do what you can do at your stage in development. Start smaller not so big in other words don't try and sound like the artist right away. Get a clean map of how to sing it then add your style and rasp/distortion breathiness. This is in no way in place of a lesson. Its what I could squeeze in a video, in about 6 minutes.

    I just love Chris Cornell's voice, so I've built an alarm clock to wake me up with random selections of his screams.

  • @Hirokiji
    @Hirokiji 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    This is Chris Cornell in his later years after years of early grunge belting.. His vocals are scarred, and tired and he was still world class until the end.
    While you and others can reproduce his recent vocal range which I admit is fun and consoling and more importantly beautiful of anyone who wants to sound like him. His range in his early years was ridiculous and not many could reproduce it even nowadays...
    Damn fine voice you have there Daniel, I’m jealous...

    Alot of people fail to recognize just what kind of range Chris really has. You're going to have to be able to hit all the notes he can before you can even think about adding anything to the voice....and I've heard songs where he has spanned 3 octaves. Good luck.

    Love your approach to breaking it down trying to get it in straight tone first that’s how I told myself too! And you are right you don’t get it at first. You keep trying a word by stanza then one day out of nowhere you can just do it and that’s when you can start adding what I call Colors to it

  • @Anjohl
    @Anjohl 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    That was really awesome. You put into words the techniques I know but can't describe! A lot of Cornell's style is breath management, IMHO, and knowing when to "dig in" vs. "roll back".

    My weaknesses is vibrato, which you have. I got the distortion, I think. When you sing clean, it's not all in the throat, but to sing like Chris, a lot of head voice and muting with his mouth and teeth.

  • @themusketeer9458

    I just don't understand how to make the clean note not head voice sounding. I can sing "paaaaaaiiitentleeeyyy" just fine, but the second part of the word I have to alleviate some pressure to not strain, and then my voice suddenly is in head voice. There is no break, but it naturally wants to go there. I don't get how I can get that head voice very clean boyish sounding tone to sound like my chest voice, like you do here. I am not trying to distort, I just want to be able to sing like Dio, or Iron Maiden stuff! Avenged Sevenfold... but I keep running into the problem that in that range, if I push to try it with chest voice, I choke. If I let the pressure in my body alleviate on the way up, I hit the notes, but I sound like a boy. How do we make head voice sound bigger? I feel like my entire head voice range covers all I need, but I can't find a way to strengthen it to sound manly. I might have to get a lesson with you if you have available classes...
