Nice thing about this route is it is essentially flat with just a few short hills mostly around Glenmore. You can make it a bit more challenging if you want some ascents by climbing up into the neighborhoods around Fish Creek but then you may also find that you miss a turn or have to do some backtracking. Be prepared for lots of walkers, runners and particularly bikers on the weekends. There are long sections that are pretty quiet because they are far enough from subdivisions but in the major parks and downtown keep your eyes open and be prepared to brake.
Thanks, Erika! I do a portion of this loop every weekday on my way back and forth to work - I feel so fortunate to be able to enjoy the beautiful Glenmore Reservoir every day and some days, go as far as downtown to meet a friend. Also live proximate to Fish Creek so know that let well. I look forward to doing the whole loop this summer - thanks for sharing! When friends ask me what they should do if they only have a couple days to visit Calgary, I say "Rent a bike!" (and visit me, of course!😉) I look forward to your other guided tours!
I have 3 favorite routes in Calgary,,, with my e bike :) I live in the NE so that's my starting point. Similar to her route but I take it all way down to Fish Creek Park, bike across the park to the other end and ride up to Glen more reservoir and back to DT and up to NE. The trail that leads to the tip of NW from NE to DT and cycle straight NW all the way to the end, beautiful view's. Last but not least the trail to Chestermere from NE, Ride is fairly flat but relaxing.
The one bad thing about the ride to Chestermere are all the cracks on the pathway near the start! Sometimes there are also a lot of mosquitos by the canal. Other than that, easy and flat!
Awesome, Erika. I will have to try your route sometime. I am in Parkdale, and I tend tend to go up to the zoo, past Science Ctr., past golf course, and up to Nose Hill area, where I usually get lost! Eventuallly find my way home, but it is a good one.
Thanks for the video. We did two sections over two days. Fish Creek Simoke Lake to Harvie Passage and the Simoke Lake west Fish Creek. Loved it. Wouldn’t have thought to come to Calgary without your video. We cycle on e-bikes with a Burley trailer for our pet goat, Boots.
Great video. This is one of my favourite bike paths in the city too. You got a great day for footage…you really showcased Calgary well! It’s such a beautiful city, we are lucky.
I've been on your route, it was very nice before they put in the freeway, a nice path around the west side of Glenmore. When I lived downtown, my favourite loop was downtown, up the deerfoot valley, around nose hill, then down through Edgeworthy, past Market Mall, and down that hill on Home Road, that lead down to the river and back downtown. The path we took had very few places where we had to deal with lights and busy street crossing. There are bridges and tunnel cut in all the right spots for a convenient underpass in all the right spots.
Such a great video! One of my favourite loops as well. The only bad part about it in my opinion are the frequent 'pits' (maybe not the right word) when riding in fish creek park just before and after Annie's cafe. They are small but frequent and when you do this loop a lot they become really annoying. I sometimes tie this loop together with one that goes around the north which is about 40km and when you get back you'll hit almost exactly 100km.
I love this loop too! I would highly recommend stopping by Scotsman Hill to get a picture with the best view of Calgary Downtown. After Lindsay Park, go up the pathway instead of the one you took @5:30 of the video.
Eyyy this is also my route! Long enough to have a good time, but also short enough where you don't need to pack much. Few snack spots along the way if needed as well. Annies in Fish Creek, Patisserie de Solei along with a bubble tea shop in Woodbine, and Chinatown or Mission downtown.
Thanks for reminding me that I need to do this specific ride! I've ridden it all in separate journeys, but never one go. I will add that the Fish Creek pathway on the eastern end has gotten pretty bumpy in recent years, and it gets a little sketchy between Lindsay Park and Stampede, but this is definitely among the best rides in Calgary.
Another loop is start at baker park, ride alongside the north side of bow river until hitting DT, and come back to Bowness park from south side of bow river
There is a path from the West most side of fish Creek up to Glenmore reservoir. Turn on the bicycling option on your Google maps and you should be able to see it
Disagree with your choices, but it is nice to Make a video regarding regarding this. You need to venture outside of center SW a little. Try nose hill. Bowmont and New discovery are very nice. Actually, maybe I will keep them to myself haha.
Many thanks for that gpx link Erika. We also enjoyed reminiscing about our ride thru Cortina, Dobbiaci, Val Pusteria, etc while watching your other recent video. Be safe out there!
My Only problem with calgary pathway is their stupid speed limit. A lot of these paths are 10km max, which is hilarious and ridiculous at the same time. My friend got ticketed $400 for going faster than 10km on his Carbon bike around calgary Zoo. Which is crazy when I usually do 15km on my run days when I'm not on a road bike😂😂😂
No that’s not true. The speed limit on the multi-use pathways is 20kph unless otherwise posted. In areas that are popular where you will encounter a lot of people using the MUP you can expect to see a sign lowering the speed to 10kph.
I have cycled around the north MUP on the north side of the Bow by the zoo many times and there are only a couple of spots where there are 10 km limits and they are near blind corners and reflect the fact that there are runners and walkers using that path. And the only time I have seen police officers anywhere around the area have been when they are working on moving people suffering from homelessness out of the area or the area west of the zoo where there are frequently a lot of people suffering from homelessness but also addiction. I have no idea why you think that someone on a carbon bike thinks that somehow gets him/her a pass on sensible speed limits in a potentially congested area but I suspect it wasn’t 20km/hr that got the ticket but a much higher speed. There are a lot of the paths with long sightlines. Feel free to open it up on those.
Man, if only people went even 30 km/hr. So sick of people screaming up behind me- no bell or yell. Stressful to walk on the paths. I've never seen Enforcement out. Probably only downtown in very busy spots.
Wonderfully done.
This encourages me to buy a bike & start slowly on these parks.
Thank you making this clip.
That's awesome :) thanks for watching

Great video. I live in Calgary and ride the pathways often. Your video reminds me how fortunate we are to live here.
I agree that we are very fortunate ☺️
Thanks. I live in Airdrie and am looking forward to the day the two cities are connected by a bike path.
I would look forward to that day too! Also Calgary to Cochrane....very close to having a connecting path except for a few short sections
As am I! I recently had a medical issue, but I'd love to do something like this before the summer ends.

That sounds like a lovely commute! Have a great summer
What a wonderful place to call home, I'm so envious! 😃👍
Being close to the mountains is the best part! Thanks for watching Tony 😊
I feel very motivated! Great video.
Haha fantastic
Awesome overview of our best paths and parks at YYC! I love this loop too!
That's awesome!
just came across this and I learned a new loop! great video thanks!

Thanks for posting. This is exactly what I want to do when I visit in a few months! This is the loop I want to take for sure!
Have fun 😊
Moved to Calgary last year and have only just been able to order a new XC bike. I will definitely be doing this loop!
Have fun 😀
Super cool bike path! I had no idea there were so many nice parks in Calgary🧌

Ah yes the path by deerfoot!
I've probably done this exact loop over 20 times. Def a classic.
Awesome 😎
Thanks for this video! Moving soon and we love our bikes! I’m excited to explore ! Happy riding
Thanks for watching and have fun 😊

That's amazing to hear. Thank you for letting me know and I'm glad you enjoyed your time cycling in Calgary
I finally did this loop and it was great! I did it in 4 hours on my hardtail. It was slow but fantastic. Lovely Fall colours!
That's so awesome to hear!!!!
Great video. This is one of my favourite bike paths in the city too. You got a great day for footage…you really showcased Calgary well! It’s such a beautiful city, we are lucky.
Thank you for your comment 😊
Thank you. Great summary of the many locations to see on one circuit.
Thanks for watching!

Sounds great!
We bike a lot in Edmonton because that's where we live. Thanks for sharing this route. I think we'll try this on our way to Johnston Canyon!
Nice hope you had a good trip
Yeah that's a great loop! I really like the Mattamy loop, it's bit more industrial but I always see neat things (once a hobo camp!).
I did almost this exact loop about 2 years ago. Started at Sikomie and went to downtown , so the same loop but in reverse basically. Was a great ride.
Nice!!
Looks like so much fun!!!
Thanks for watching 🎉
Nice video!
I live in Calgary as well.
Awesome bike paths here!
Thanks you!
Love it. Reminds me of good times
Good times indeed 😊
I've been looking for ideas for a good loop to ride around Calgary. This is perfect
Excited for you to try it 🚴♂️
Hi. Just want to ask what’s your bike setup? Thank you so much. Great vlog.
Nice job on the vid! I'll keep this in mind to experience Calgary one day! (currently doing the Toronto thing).
Excellent video. I’ve done all those pathways but never did it as a loop. Definitely have to try it out.
@@mako88sb awesome 💯

Oooo I know exactly what you mean!! The cracks on the pathway every three meters or so.... they are not enjoyable at all.
If we make it up that far north then that route is definitely on our list. Great video.
Thank you David! 😊
I love this loop too!

Ooo yes that's a great detour

Great video, been riding Glenmore reservoir but might try your big loop this weekend!
Have fun!

Such a nice bike trip and nice editing. Hope to do those trails soon. Will film with a gopro 12 chest mount, should be fun, thanks😊
Thank you!
I like going from Edworthy park to Chestermere, its about 75km round trip, pure Zen!
That's a long but great one!
It's definitely on my list this year. See you on the pathway.
Thanks for watching ☺️
love this circuit, have taking it many times! Great video

Thank you for watching!
How did you get from Fish Creek Park to a Glenmore reservoir? It’s all streets riding in traffic.
There is a path from the West most side of fish Creek up to Glenmore reservoir. Turn on the bicycling option on your Google maps and you should be able to see it
@@erika_pablo along Stoney trail on W edge of Woodbine Cedarbrae Oakridge?
@@brucemadu8535 yes on the West edge of those communities and East of stoney trail. It should be 100% bike paths to connect fish Creek and Glenmore

Are you using insta 360 cam?
Yes!
Thank you for making this video!
My pleasure!
Nice looking ride. Is there a gpx track posted somewhere for this?
ridewithgps.com/routes/35205548
try this!
Many thanks for that gpx link Erika. We also enjoyed reminiscing about our ride thru Cortina, Dobbiaci, Val Pusteria, etc while watching your other recent video. Be safe out there!
How do you plan and save the bike path? I don’t want to get lost.
You can plan on komoot or just use Google maps bike option
Side note, do you notice people are unsubscribed? I'm positive I was during your trip to Canmore but not now...
I'm not sure what you mean with your question haha
I will try it
Have fun!
weldone this information help me to ride on this loop
Great to hear!
One day 😊
Does every park in Calgary have a highway running through it?
🤷♀️
How long does it take to do the loop roughly
I would say 4-5 hours
How long does it take?
Around 4-6 hours perhaps
How long did it take you to ride all that route.?
Depends on your speed but anywhere between 3-4 hours!
