    I've worked on quite few laptops and desktops, and I watch youtube for tut's on what ever model i'm working on. I think this is by far the most detailed one i've seen yet. WOW.. That was a very impressive tutorial ! I would like to suggest when you removed the processor, you should have mentioned the gold triangle location. I'm sure you will on your tut where you put it back together, if there is one. Nice video.

      ya I think so its causing start up and mouse errors from stuck keys.I should of left it alone making it worse. Is the single screw important too because it was broken?

    can we assemble INTEL processor in HP pavilion dv6 instead of AMD????

      You will likely need a different mother board.

    Is this laptop compatible with the amd a10-5750m? I've found a similar laptop on ebay and I have an a10-5750m from an older laptop that broke so I was wondering if it would work.

    • @RobertDIY
      @RobertDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the processor is married to the motherboard.

    There is a version of that machine that tends to overheat the graphic chip, the solder balls under it become disconnected, much like the xbox i think, im not into game consoles so dont quote me lol.
    if its the graphics chip then it will need to be removed with a reflow station and the board cleaned and mask solder depositing on the pcb before the chip is reflowed.
    I hope it is the cpu though, laptops can be a pain to repair at times :-(
    Laptops are a good source of spare screws lol, why fit just 6 pcb hold down screws when the manufacture went mad with 20, silly arses lol :)

    • @RobertDIY
      @RobertDIY  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      zx8401ztv I hope it's the cpu as well.

    Man how do you remember which screws go where and what stuff goes where? Laptops seems so difficult compared to desktops. I would work on a desktop any day, laptops...another story. Even if your take a picture you got to know where the cords go and the screws and stuff. How do computer guys do it?

    • @RobertDIY

      +Zzzzzz... The same day works best. lol.

    • @zzzzzz...9902
      @zzzzzz...9902 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Robert DIY Well ya I would do it the same day also but it is still difficult in my opinion to put it back together. Getting it apart is easy, back together however, well that is another story. I picked up a laptop from the dump, so it did not matter what happened to it. But I tore it all apart then could not get it back together. So I just took it back to the dump and left it there pretty much in pieces. Did not matter to me what happened to it, but still frustrating that I could not get that laptop back together. At least it was practice.

    • @RobertDIY
      @RobertDIY  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Zzzzzz... Don't let it bother you. We are created differently. Some people are "naturals" at putting things "back" together, that they take apart. Others are great at remembering what spices people like on their steaks. I always tell people, if you don't like working on your car, make sure you make enough money to pay someone else to do it.

      +Robert DIY Thats the thing, I want to be a computer technician and if I cant seem to put a laptop back together after fixing the motherboard or a CPU, not going to have the job very long. I know there must be Technics out there to putting it back together, just got to find it.

    I have a similar HP DV6, and it was suffering from random shutoffs (due to overheating, I believe). So, I ran the OCCT stress test to hit the cpu cores at 100%. It ran for only 3 minutes and the cores registered 63.8C before the laptop shut off. With your video, I was able to completely disassemble my laptop, clean out the HSF and apply new thermal paste to the CPU, and put it back together. I did not think it would work at all, but your video helped immensely. After it was reassembled, I ran the stress test again, and this time it ran for 10 minutes before I manually halted the program. The cpu cores registered 65C by the end of the test, but there was no random shutdown. I do not normally run the cpu at 100%, so I am hoping the issue has been solved. However, I do not think I could have taken it apart without your great tutorial. Thank you.

    Robert: Thanks a LOT for making and posting this video. I have an HP Pavilion dv6 just like the one in this video, and I wanted to make it bigger/stronger/faster by upgrading th RAM, Hard drive, ad CPU, all of which I found a LOT cheaper than buying a new machine, and this video is EXACTLY the one I needed to do what I'm planning to do to my computer. Your instructions and video are hands down farrr better than the others I have found while researching You Tube for videos to perform these upgrades. I rate your video and instructions a 10 out of 10 fo those who might want to watch/use it for their upgrades/repairs etc. Thanks again, Chuck Alexander

I would like to remove the m/b as shown GREAT then test transistor & power jacks/voltage. Hi Robert please help. My laptop start up when I change the CPU, works good until I turn it off, then, it won't boot windows again. I replaced the fan and cleaned, again its start fine until I turn it off, then don't boot windows again. I don't have any clue what to do. Blink error is CPU.

    • @RobertDIY

      CPU may be bad again. It may be overclocking. Have you replaced the mother board battery? I would leave it on if I were you. I leave all of mine on all the time.
