I've never driven my z06 at the track before or even autocross when this was filmed. In my very first session, I was peacefully learning my car and getting used to it while these two Asian men in S2000 and MRS are right on my rear view mirror hitting Vtec lmao. Helph
@@olivevideogames its roughly the same balance. There's a video later in the catalogue where he counterweight his friends k24 turbo mr2 and the difference wasn't drastic from a 2zz setup
I have an autocross background too. biggest thing ive found was just trying to slow down my inputs a little bit so I didn't upset the car, once you are slideways you're losing time! If I enter too fast I get sideways too so thats probably a good assumption. the best thing about autocross background - quick reactions and no worries when you are sliding cuz its normal lol. Nice driving.

It looks to me like the common AP1 issue where on long fast left hand turns the oil in the engine doesn't drain back down properly (fast enough). There are fixes for it tho
In the video you mentioned you're running 225s in the front and 255s in the rear. I've been having outside clearance problems with my PHI R 205/40-17s and 225/35-17s. So I'm trying to find the right wheel size, offset and tire size combo. So what are your wheel sizes and offsets?
4:006:0026:00 your friend in the Z06 should start behind you or wave off your point by on straights. You loose momentum and are help up in a lot of the track. If someone keeps coming up in your mirror at corners and there is no one holding you up, you should give point by to them. This was a good chase video because you keep running down the Z06. The is a road course with corners not a highway. Have fun and be safe.
I got a question for you. Have you ever addressed the ease of maintenance (access) differences between the sw20 and the zzw30? I'm deciding between the two. Factors like: Rust, reach (engine bay access for regular maintenance items), and such. The sw20 is the better daily, had it not been for being old.
I know this post is old, but the zzw30 is literally better at everything except power but that can be fixed with a few mods. For a daily is much better because the engine is very fuel efficient, more reliable, and because its newer its easier to find the parts and fix. It's literally a Corolla engine. For performance the Spyder is much lighter, and has a better chassis. Get a turbo kit, some coilovers and an LSD and you're set. Just make sure you get a 2003 or later because of pre-cat issues. As for access, you have to remove the tail lights, the rear bumper and then you got plenty of space to work. The SW20 has the trunk so its worse IMO. Also you may have to lower the engine if you have to work on the intake manifold side but 90% of the engine is accessible. Hope this helps.
@@Zeriel00 I ended up making the smart move and bought a zzw30. an 01 - the aforementioned issues of precats are a non issue on mine. it's been removed a long time ago. car is currently approaching 60,000 miles too. as for daily practicality, the trunk on the sw20 is definitely the pro, not the con. practicality for every day is not the same as ease of access for the dozen or less times you're in the bay. This couldn't have spoken louder than my last year owning a spyder. My daily driver is a 2021 ND RF 6sp and hilariously enough, it has even less space than the mr2. I can fit my motorcycle stands in the passenger seat of my MR2, but i can't fit them anywhere in the ND. The recaro seats are also an awkward shape and I don't want to poke them with metal edges and cause damage so this is an L for my daily, W for the spyder which has all cloth (tweed?) - near indestructible seats. The hard top that came with my car looks amazing, but it also is not "on a whim" like an Sw20's removable panels. That gets a little annoying, but I went into it knowing this, because I had an 04 NB back in 2019 which had the exact same gripe. This car is much quieter than the NB though, even as the earlier model. There are zero rattles in the body or hardtop. only the folded soft top makes chatters going over bumps and thats great. Luckily, my ND takes up the slack again here, because the RF can go targa with the push of a button and I use it often. Whilst I also win because the spyder - with some effort - now affords me a full convertible experience if I really really want it. (never been motivated enough to make it happen yet though.) MPG is also a non issue to me because both cars are platforms for my joy and development, not daily drivers. once again (and ironically) the ND shines here too. the 2 liter gets me 40mpg consistently when I'm not in a rush. it also has 2zz like power, so I never feel like im without fun no matter which car i'm driving. Where the ND can never win (or most any other unibody car for that matter) is the spyder's unique bolt-on bodywork. I freaking LOVE that I can completely remove all 360 degrees of body panels + hard top and tend to any dents or corrosion directly and swiftly. I wish all cars did this. But I'm glad at least the spyder does. it also makes painting the car 500x easier. in theory, I could order a widebody kit and paint every single exterior part of the car without the car ever being inside the booth, bolt them all on, and change the cars appearance in an instant. it's sweet.
@@twrcrew8852 yeah I have a 02 I decided to get as it was cheap. Now the issue I have is that it won’t rev past 5k in gear but there is no lifter tick or rod knock
@@v8_sami old car. questionable engine. I think the only right way to come into a spyder is the same way one would come into a 240sx. You throw away the stock engine the minute you want to actually begin tuning and predetermine that you want a 2zz or K series and start learning how to go about getting one. Set aside 25-30 grand for this if doing K series. or about 6-8 grand for the 2zz. this will cover all maintenance and wiring to make sure you have a real turn key build that won't have you posting on groups asking why things aren't working etc.
