    Nice build so far. If a finish is a concern when hammering the lead sheet like you do, then it would be a good idea to place a sheet of metal over the surface and hammer that to keep it flat. But if ot will be hidden go to town! Thanks Nigel, just saw part 2 posted, and its added to the queue!

    Hi Nigel. Does look to be one of airfix's better kits . I would build it with everything open possible and the folded wing's. Very good bay detail . Should be very impressive. I hope you are well. M

    Nose weight I managed by accident went over I think min overall is over 10g but I think you can be a bit short and it will sit ok.
    The fit is so good on the kit my tail plain and making wings aren't glued just push fit

    Beautiful kit to build. The only criticism I'd aim is at the at times vague instructions and the flimsy wing fold detailing/links which are susceptible to damage and breaking off. They perhaps could have been better thought out. Incidentally, I would suggest putting in far more nose weight than Airfix suggest: it really, really is a massive tail sitter if this is anything but over their own recommendation.

    These clever weight boxes actually reduce space available for the lead weight. What is the point?

    • @NigelsModellingBench
      @NigelsModellingBench  หลายเดือนก่อน

      But they give a nice solid location for the weights.

  • @markgordon2260
    @markgordon2260 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I just received mine, and looking forward to your build. I have just started mine, and the only comment regarding it is that the sprue attachment points seem a bit thicker than usual. I will need to source some RAN decals. Regarding the forward weights, I saw on another build is that if they are forward of "that line" they can be seen from outside - there is a gap in front of the instrument panel. To allow more weight the builder put in a flat blanking plate. Also, will the box allow for the large amount of weight? Maybe a test build showed that not enough weight could be added using the box, and the instructions were amended?

    • @NigelsModellingBench
      @NigelsModellingBench  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think the weights will be seen if forward of the line.. I think it's to clear the engine intakes. I think I proved that you can get the correct weight in the box, well, 0.3 grams less in reality.. I looked at the space in front of the IP. I think that is visible through the windscreen? That's why I put the extra in the sides.
