  • Investigations are continuing into the circumstances that led to the tragic passing of five children in Soweto, Gauteng, this past weekend, with one child still in hospital under intensive care.
It is alleged they consumed poisonous food bought from a local spaza shop.
This incident has yet again raised concerns and renewed calls for the enforcement of food safety compliance and businesses adhering to the city by-laws.
For more on this, we are joined virtually by Dr Mgcini Tshwaku, City of Joburg's MMC for Public Safety.

I always find it amazing after these innocent little souls were taken by snacks .Instead the foreign shop owners were told to pack up and go instead of removing them and lock the shop for investigation. He is long gone integrated into another community These politicians absolutely have no clue. All they probably talk about all day is party politics and tenders .They really lost track of

Eff sought top protect these foreigners that's why he is quick to close them all down now. He knows further investigation into all of these shops will bring up non compliance.

Please close all these spazas. Pur kids are dying. We never used to have them growing up and spazas were owned by South Africans and we never had a person dying because of that food consumption.
My people please stop buying from them. Please

So this shop owner might have killed more than these children with his poisonous food, we need a commission of enquiry like we had for the for victims of the fire in hijacked buildings. Why even think of giving someone like that documents. He should be jailed for causing the deaths of all those children, if its found goods come from his store. He connects all those children..

They close the spaza shop in Soweto and go open in Tembisa and some they go to other provinces. Those spaza shop owners definitely are not legal in the country and they don't comply, what makes them not be arrested like restaurant owners and their employees????
