    I blame us as South Africans for giving them our money and consuming their goods and also the landlords for even allowing them a space to rent our government has never intervened on anything and it's been a decade crying about the same issue seems like we have a very sort memory when it comes to this but what do we do????we give them money so they can continue operating 💔💔💔condolences to the families affected

    My word this community leader is well spoken.
    Her request for health inspection to be done ,is pertinent for these shops to be accountable for incidents like this. Very sad ! Education to children on purchasing food or snacks is pertinent ,only to prevent loss of lives thru some food poisoning ,or expired food.

    Sister is a wise leader. We need more women like her. My suggestion to the government would be that the government empowers umphakathi, esp. youth in starting their spazas. We used to have Small Business. Empowerment. Economy must be revived by opening old food production factories and plants and more jobs created for local citizens.

    Where are the councilors and the minister of small business in all of this, can SAPS confirm if its food poisoning or something else. Not so long ago there was a syndicate killing children for body parts to be sold on the black market ?
    Do a survey of all spaza shops.
    Establish a spaza shop association, landlords to play a part.
    Charge a once off initiation fee and monthly admin fee for new and existing spaza.
    The association to appoint and handle inspections, lease agreements, business document's etc...
    Government to subsidize. Unfortunately this not something you can blame apartheid for.

    If someone doesn't buy a food product for 4 years it's still sits on shelve. No matter who runs this spaza shop this will continue. A compliance auditing system should be in place from government

What have we done since 2 yrs ago about the hundreds of kids who were left brain dead and handicapped by the LISTERIOSIS TIGER BRANDS CASE? What are we doing to stop our children killed by TRADITIONAL circumcisions each year? What is Government doing to get rid of pit latrines in our schools? OUR KIDS ARE DYING.....

    The problem is not the spaza shop as such but the wholesaler and or manufacture of these goods.. you can close or change the spaza but the new spaza owner whether SAcan or Pakistani will still buy from the same wholesale ..mxm

They don't get deliveries from reputable distributors but get their stock from one company which then distributes goods to the 'distribution' companies which is one and the same. They call it the spiderweb economy. Money never leaves their web

    South African has fallen! No matter what is happening, there are Authorities to take action in terms of the law. They should call the Authorities instead of doing justice with their own hands. This is anarchy in the country by even giving hours to a shop to close. It is sad to see our kids getting ill and dying but why not to blain the authorities as well?
