- Queen Padmavati is happily married to a Rajput ruler until a tyrant Sultan, Alauddin Khilji, enters their life and calls a war on their kingdom due to his obsession with the queen.
Padmaavat is a 2018 Indian Hindi-language epic period drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Based on the epic poem of the same name by Malik Muhammad Jayasi, it stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati, a Rajput queen known for her beauty, wife of Maharawal Ratan Singh, played by Shahid Kapoor. Sultan Alauddin Khilji, played by Ranveer Singh, hears of her beauty and attacks her kingdom to claim her. Aditi Rao Hydari, Jim Sarbh, Raza Murad, and Anupriya Goenka featured in supporting roles.

That's because Rawal ratan Singh was not a very strong king. His diplomacy wasn't good. I personally think that they showed his character stronger than he was in reality. If you read the regional historical texts and summary of the actual Padmaavat, you'll get to know that he wasn't very strong, whereas as Allauddin khilji was the sultan . Captured many territories, defeated Mongols, was very cunning and a great administrator.

@@adityavarma990 well i am not aware of that, and it could be true, and i don't support nepotism at all too, but the truth is, sushant had a long way to go, he could've been a better choice in physical appearance, but in terms of acting, he wouldn't have done even 10 % as compared thn to shahid. Shahid nailed his role.
