From Plumber to Farmer

  • I was a plumber for almost a decade. I thought I would be in the trade for the rest of my life, and then I started homesteading and it ruined it all, in a good way.... Today I tell you my story on how I went from a successful Plumber to a Farmer/homesteader.... Whatever you want to call it.... I like animals and I love Self Sufficiency, okay?

Another very good episode, thank you for a bit of a back story about how this Farm homestead journey began for the two of you. I'm really impressed with the level of commitment, determination and thoughtful decision making that you and Ashlynn both as younger adults put into the big life change and move. It's great hearing how much joy your decisions now allows the two of you to experience. I'm not bragging and it's no pressure on you but I have had a pretty good track record of coming across a few new TH-cam channels that I still follow and only after a few years they are well above 1 million+ subs Justin Rhodes is one of them and although his success really has nothing to do with me! I'll say honestly I believe that I could see that something special in those TH-camrs practically in the same way from when I watched the first episode from your channel. I'll just say that I believe you all exactly what it will take in becoming successful small farmers/ TH-camrs just keep doing what you have been doing and what ever direction that takes the two of you! Just remember that you have real fans of the channel but to yourself be true ! Because you have already shown us that you have the Confidence to achieve great things 👍🏾

It’s so incredibly clear that The Holy Spirit is working inside of you. It’s remarkable that you listened and had so much insight and self reflection at such a young age. Your grandfather was absolutely correct. However, you started seeing life in straight lines much earlier than most these days. I hope this channel continues to grow so it can inspire other young people about the true meaning of this life, especially in this day and age. You’re in my prayers for God’s prosperity. Keep putting the videos out, you have no idea how many lives you’ll change for the better.

I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life until I was put in jail for a short 9 months, and all I knew at that point was I wanted my freedom, and to spend a lot more time outside enjoying nature, fresh air, and sunshine. It’s amazing the things we take for granted, but sometimes you have to lose everything to realize what you need in life. I hope someday to be able to grow my own food and have enough to share with my community. I’m currently learning on the job how to do carpentry. I hope one day I can save enough to buy land and build my own homestead. I decided to dedicate my life to learning how to live off of the land, as much in harmony with nature as I can. After my release I got heavy into fishing and started learning to garden during the pandemic, at which time I essentially quit drinking and other self destructive lifestyles. I truly believe that fishing and gardening creates a balance in my life, which is all that I needed to live the “sober” life. I’ve never been one to shy away from hard work, but with homesteading it’s amazing to see how your hard work can pay off. Really enjoying your videos, please keep making them because I have so much to learn before I’m ready to run my own homestead.

What a great video - thank you for sharing how you got to where you are.
It takes a lot of guts to leave everything familiar and secure to follow your dreams and you two kids put a lot of time and thought into your plans.
Your families must be so proud of you.
I really hope your channel continues to grow too, your videos are a treat to watch.

Guy u make your parents proud! Made me proud! You’re very fortunate to have a good foundation… you spoke about your business with passion. That is what people lack these days. Anyone can do anything if they dedicate the time and effort to focus and be passionate.
Although it’s nice to know you owned a business and was successful, I don’t recommend putting a video about it. When you reminisce what good you had, I don’t want u to fall into this pit once in a while of self doubt because you’re not making as much which may lead to regrets in the future. You closed that door now focus moving forward…

Hi Zach, it is great to see both you and Ashlyn so happy with your new life in Kentucky. I'm glad that your families can spend time with both of you and experience some of your homesteading experiences. In the video that you did with Ashlyn's side of the family planting the trees, they looked so happy to experience it along with you. They got to experience operating the tractor and working out in the sunshine. The customers that you had from your business were probably very sad to see you leave as it is hard to find honest hard working people that you can trust to do the job right. Looking to the future, if you decide to start a family the homestead is by far the best as you can grow and raise your own food as much a possible. Wishing you both the best Zach and Ashlyn.

Be sure to plan for when you're older and no longer have the physical capabilities you have at this moment. Save, save and save some more money! You can't rely on social security as it's just a pittance in reality. Don't forget that you still need to eat to survive later in life - not to mention medical care as you age. Given the financial differences between WA and KY there's no way you could sell there and afford to go back. Financially the states are worlds apart. Just some sage advice to remember. ;)
