I have heard that it is more recently revered as expressing hope for Korean reunification. That was a traditional gown she was wearing and some of the staging was reflective of Korean tradition. Now that you've done Arirang alone, follow up with You Raise me up, Lean on Me, I Will Always Love you, Amazing Grace, Stay, and Misty in whichever order you feel. Last should be Everyone. You will go on a journey of her singing different genres, like Mori. Again, everything after that is just icing on the cake. Her Begin Again Series is much softer anf stripped bare in nature and her live concerts from end of 2021 and beginning 2022 shows how her voice has only gotten better with age. What blows me away is the dynamics between the different sections. As the strings fade a bit you get a more aggressive sound with the horns rounding it out. Her arrangement is absolutely incredible.

This is a traditional folk song that most recently has been used to represent the dream of unification of the Koreas and this arrangement was composed by So Hyang and her
husband to take advantage of her ridiculous range and breath control. You will discover

and she's stated many times that her primary mission is to comfort people
rather than pursue traditional fame/recording deals etc.
She has turned down More BIG record companies than most artist would ever get.
Sohyang lost to Jo Tongdal and his son and grandson. Only his son is a famous singer, not his grandson. Though I didn't agree, it makes sense why the audience gave votes to Jo Tongdal. Jo Tongdal was also beaten by Song So-hee, another famous traditional folk singer. It makes sense she sang last and the theme of the episode was folk songs. The voting audience is also equally divided into different age demographics from the 20s to 60s.

So Arirang is a traditional Korean folk song that’s been around for hundreds of years so it’s very well known. It’s considered the unofficial national anthem of South Korea actually. This version Arirang Alone is a take on the traditional song but it modernizes it and really speaks to the hope of reunification between north and South Korea enabling families who wore torn apart by the divide to see each and be United once again. It’s a very emotional and meaningful song. I think literally every Korean person knows the song in some shape or form.

Hi, I love your reaction. It's true that So Hyang has ability to play with somebody emotion. Arirang Alone is a folk song which popular in Korea. So Hyang make a rendition of it and sing it in this show. She has also make a rendition of "You Raise Me Up" in this show with Shane Filan as the guest. Unfortunately, while singing "You Raise Me Up", she is in not a good condition. She suffered from Pneumonia since 2017 till now. Yet, she nailed those high notes. She is still active in doing concerts and lectures in universities. #subscriptionsquad

What blows me away is the dynamics between the different sections. As the strings fade a bit you get a more aggressive sound with the horns rounding it out. Her arrangement is absolutely incredible.
