    You are a great teacher. Im going to try this. I now understand the importance of counting stitches, using marker and the difference between stitching in the round versus slip stitching to next round. There was so much learning and i didn't feel overwhelmed. Oh, oh the way you explained increasing in the double single crochet spot was superb. Thank you. Finally found a beanie patern and instruction i feel comfortable trying.

      I am so sorry to hear about your daughter - you both will be in my prayers. I am so happy she loves the hat - I have a few tutorials on lining hats if she needs something really soft agains her skin I recommend the Chenille Fleece - so incredibly soft and warm. XO

    • @LcJohnson7962
      @LcJohnson7962 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much for your prayers. I couldn't bear to lose her. I saw the tutorial on liners for the hats and I will try that. I have been a knitter since I was 16 but tried crochet a couple of times. Couldn't get the knack of it until now. You are a great teacher. I love how you went to a smaller needle the last three rows and it really brings it in. Since Melissa doesn't have hair it snugs it up to her face and neck. ❤️

    I'm a beginner crocheter and started making this hat yesterday, however it seems to be quite large. I'm using a 10mm hook and a super bulky yarn (lionbrand thick & quick). Could you suggest a smaller crochet hook size that might work better for the project? Thank you :)

  • @LcJohnson7962

      Made another one almost just like this one tonight. It was Lion Brand super bulky in Fossil color. Took about three hours with me following along with you. I may be able to do the next one without watching every single thing. I've ordered the faux fur balls for the top and can't wait for them to get here.

    Thank you very much!
    If we make the same one, with hdc how we will join?
    With the same way or with ss and chain one?

    • @prettydarnadorable
      @prettydarnadorable  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can just use the HDC instead of the sc. Don't worry about joining. Measure when you get close to being done because you won't need to do as many rounds.
      Good luck!

    • @prettydarnadorable
      @prettydarnadorable  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andrea Muse yes exactly. You would need to add or subtract the number of rounds depending if you are making it smaller or bigger

    Can somebody PLEASE help me! Everytime I crochet a hat from top to bottom, the shape turns out like a Pyramid almost Or like a triangle. I follow the directions very carefully and even count my stitches after each row. But it NEVER turns out like it should. It's Very very wide at the base and doesn't taper in. On the contrary, when I crochet hats starting at the bottom and going up, they fit perfect and turn out exactly as they should. Can anybody please give suggestions on what might be happening!??! I'm limited on what I can make because I ONLY choose patterns that start at the bottom. Thank you in advance. I really appreciate it!

      Her tutorial shows using one size smaller hook the last three rows. I've made two this week using this pattern and they turned out perfectly. Curves in slightly at the bottom. She's a great teacher.

    • @rosesareblue73
      @rosesareblue73 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty Darn Adorable ...Okay well I took the 1st hat I made completely apart, so unfortunately there was no picture of it to email you. However, I recrocheted the hat all over again & found my mistake! For rows 7-15 where you do the same thing with no increase or decreases, I did NOT count the stitches in those rows. Somehow, I was increasing because when I would go back to my work after crocheting a few stitches (I was making this while taking care of a 1 1/2 yr old, so I only could do a little at a time) & I was crocheting back in the same stitch without realizing it. So that is how it turned out sooo wide at the base. For clarification, you are an awesome, very thorough teacher. I knew it was something that I was doing wrong. So please don't think or I hope nobody else thinks that I was questioning your pattern or explanations. Now I know how important it is to count yr stitches after EACH & EVERY row...lol!!!!! I will send you a picture of my 2nd attempt which turned out awesome! I have 3 requests from family members so I will be busy making more. Thank you so much for responding back & offering to help figure out where I went wrong. You're so kind. Take care.

      That is awesome!! All that matters is that now you figured it out - you are really going to start enjoying it! And umm I am familiar with the task of trying to do things with a baby around :) Except mine are getting big now. XO
