- Back in May 2021, Rever was running a Memorial Day Sale on their Premium Memberships - dropping the price from $40 annually to roughly $28 annually.
I decided to make the purchase and give the app a try. These are my impressions so far.

Very cool and thanks . Looking forward to what near you.
Thanks 👍
It seems like that since the application is based on GPS from your review, it seems like the GPS is not a very good functional application and doesn’t that make the whole app kind of worthless?
I have used Rever for almost 2 years now. Your review is spot on. However, Rever has improved at a consistent rate since I began using it. I do NOT use the tracker. Only because I forget about it. My bike has Ride Command so it has a built-in GPS. Where Rever shines is creating routes on a PC at your leisure. While I have used Rever's TBT routing, I ran into the same issues of it not being able to skip waypoints and the voice instruction coming too late to make a turn.
If you choose to just use the web browser function, then be aware you may have to download your route in multiple formats prior to importing into a GPS like Ride Command or Zumo.
I still rate Rever high compared to other similars.
I have a bad habit of forgetting to turn on the tracker at the start of a ride. By the time I remember it isn't worth stopping, fishing the phone out of my pocket, and enabling it mid-ride.
Even with its quarks, I've been very happy with Rever and don't regret the Pro Subscription. My favorite feature is easily the custom maps and I use it a fair bit for ride planning. The Turn by Turn directions are better if going from Point A to Point B without waypoints in between (this is where the "Twisty Route" comes in handy).
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
For creating route on pc, is there any tool better than google maps? Gmap is very easy to use.
@@richardthibert3222 This is subjective -- Rever is far superior for route planning than GMaps.
Good review, I have used Google Maps for years and was looking for an alternative that doesn’t change the route once I create it.
One positive thing about Google Maps is it will reroute when there is an issue, i.e. road closure due to some current condition. Does Rever do anything like that?
I just purchased Rever (discounted offer) and am going to experiment a bit. Getting ready for a multi-day trip and figured I will probably plan he trip into daily saved rides - maybe even less smaller segments.
Thanks for the review…
Good review Walt! I think once they iron out all of the little bugs it will be an app worth buying. The twisty roads feature would be especially nice for us riders. But I will probably wait till it gets updated.
The cool thing about the app is that it seems like it is getting attention from the developers. I got an email the other day that they just incorporated a privacy shield to hide your Start and Finish Points so that you don’t have to worry about that info being public (part of my problem in the first clip - I made tractor supply my start point and I didn’t get close enough for the app to count it as meeting my waypoint).
Hopefully they put some additional time into the turn by turn directions. It is my only real complaint at this point
@@WaltInPA oh that's cool. At least they didn't just put it out to the public and leave it be.
Hi there, do you still think it was worth it? Could you help me to clarify a doubt. Do I have to pay separate subscription for app and web? 39 + 19
Good review, but you need a CarPlay or AndroidAuto device on your handlebars with that so you don't need to keep pulling your phone out.
Walt. I watched a couple of your videos, so clean on the go-pro, including audio. Maybe direct me to your blog set up? I’m getting a new GL1800, and reports of their nav system is a disappointment.( I can get past that by adding a Garmin Zumo) everything is expensive nowadays. But, thanks for the info. My Wandering Wings chapter of GWRRA has some experienced members I am going to get schooled by my fellow wingers as well. JT ps. I’ve relatives in Pa., I never visited yet. That’s on my agenda if my new bike ever arrives!
I tried the free version and never remembered to turn it on so I just deleted it, great review!
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
I had a bunch on my phone at one point in time (Calimoto, Rever, Scenic, and one or two others). I had to clear them all out and stick to just one otherwise I wouldn't use any of them.
Just got REVER pro on a Black Friday discount. Like you said …I’ve spent more on worse. Worst case is I have it for a year at half the price and then cancel but some of the other comments seem to indicate they have been improving the app. I hope so!
Absolutely - since this video they've made several improvements.
Seeing the developers working to make the app better definitely makes it worth it (especially if you can pick it up on sale).
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Anyone on a Harley with Apple Carplay use this app? The waypoint issue that you discuss might not be that big of an issue for me if I can just touch my bike stereo screen and skip it. Thanks for the review!
I've got no way to test with Carplay but being able to easily skip the waypoints like that would make a huge difference.
Thanks for watching 👍
Hey Walt! I'm in Coatesville, would love to find someone to ride with!
Hi,
I'm not terribly far from Coatsville - I'm out in the Boyertown area (a few miles from Martin Moto).
If you are interested, I have a Discord Server. There are a few of us in the area that get together and ride.

@@WaltInPA cool...my parents are up in Coopersburg, so I go thru B'town when I take the back roads, usually only when I'm in the bike...345 thru the park is sweet!
Seems a bit of a faff, and I spent way too much on a TomTom to use anything else. I would like to find an app that tracks my ride across a map to show where I’m going in videos though.
If you use the GoPro Quik App it will let you add overlays. You have to setup GPS Tracking but with it you’re supposed to be able to add a Map, Speed, Travel Direction, and a couple of other things.
I thought of adding a map and doing it manually but it seemed like a ton of work and I scrapped that idea rather quickly 😂
@@WaltInPA that’s interesting and worth investigating, thanks Walt.
Yes keep it simple 🤣
I am looking for a decent free app that will let me record my rides and play them back in a 3D format, if there is such a thing. Not sure if Rever free version does this. I was certain I was already subbed to your channel, but it looks like they unsubbed me. No problem, I just subbed again. Thanks for the vid. Ride safe.
Thanks for watching and subscribing 👍
I believe the 3D Map Feature was only available to Pro Subscribers.
A while back I tried an App called Relive. I think it is primarily geared towards hikers and bicyclists but it has the 3D Map Playback and I’ve heard of several motorcyclists using it to record rides.
Rever was a very good app but these days I’m using Calimoto (primarily so that I could review it much like I did in this video)
@@WaltInPA Cool, thanks for the info.
''very nice video like it friend ''
Thanks 👍
Merely use follow the line route, not turn by turn and you’ll have none of the issues described in this vid. Shame to dismiss the best MC app bc not using it correctly.
A major selling point to me was the turn by turn directions. Otherwise, I like the app and think it has some great features.
I think I would just go purchase a dedicated GPS for motorcyclists.
The phrase “Jack of all trades, master of none” comes to mind in regards to Smartphone Apps. It seems like they do a bunch of things fairly well but there is always one feature that they simply miss the mark on. I think if I were doing a lot of touring I would definitely pay the premium and opt for a dedicated GPS unit.
If only you had a quad lock on your handlebars. Oh wait. Nevermind.
What's wrong with Google Maps (or Apple for the iSheeple)?? It's never steered me wrong...and it's free. Just sayin'.
So it's a hook up app
From what I hear it is better than some, worse than others when it comes to the community aspect. I haven't explored that very much.
So let me get this straight, you use an app way different than most and it is the apps fault? Skip the waypoint and move on… you have a damn quadlock…
